After dancing around hanging bulbs and lights, a visitor appears.

Christmas surprises have moved beyond from just under the tree.

I thought it was an unwritten rule, that nothing bad is allowed to be in a Christmas tree. Apparently no one told the snake.

When DD1 was in middle school, she told me about a friend whose family set their natural tree up on a Friday night, and they were going to decorate the next day. They woke up Saturday morning to find spiders and webs all over the area where the tree was standing. This was in FL. It doesn't get cold enough to kill stuff lurking in the trees. I was so wigged out, that I swore not to do natural trees anymore.

In Australia a Koloa wandered into a lady's house and took up residence in her Christmas tree.
I almost died from cuteness overload.

I could deal with a koala bear. They are adorable. Hell no to spiders. And anyway I can't have a real tree. Both DH and I are allergic.

My 4 siblings and I all got poison ivy from our Christmas tree when I was about 13, youngest was 2. Tree was cut from our own woods. Mom had Dad throw it out the front door so fast LOL.

My paternal grandfather was the teller of tall tales. Like the time he told us our dad as a young boy wanted a pony for Christmas. Of course no pony would be found on Christmas morning in their living room or anywhere else inside or outside their home. But my grandfather told us kids he put some horse manure in my dad's Christmas stocking and told my dad the pony ran away. About poison ivy. My grandfather told us kids he, my grandmother, my dad and uncle were on a road trip when my uncle said he had to take a bowel movement. As there were no restrooms around for miles they stopped by a stand of bushes and woods and my uncle walked into them to take care of business. Allegedly, and unknowingly, my uncle wiped himself with poison ivy leaves.
