His idea of living according to biblical standards seems only to include the parts that he thinks give him the right to be cruel, hateful, misogynistic, greedy, and mean. Fairly typical of his ilk and the main reason I avoid any business that touts its "Christian" values (you know, like Hobby Lobby and Chick-Fil-A).

A number of years ago I needed some shingles replaced after loosing some in a severe thunderstorm. More severe storms were due by the upcoming late weekend so I wanted the roof fixed ASAP. On a Tuesday I called a roofer to replace them and he told me he would be at my home Friday to replace them. He quoted me an acceptable price. I took Friday off to be home. The roofer was a no call/no show. I called him Friday night to ask why he was a no show. He apologized and said he was too busy that day. He said he would come Saturday. Saturday came and he was a no call/no show. It was too late to schedule someone new. So I asked him if he could come Sunday. He said he would. He finally showed up around noon on Sunday and fixed the shingles. He apologized for not arriving first thing in the morning, He then handed me the bill and the total was double what he had quoted me. I asked him why the high charge. He replied he didn't work on Sundays. Therefore it was an emergency call. I paid the bill knowing I would never recommend him to anyone in the future. He handed me his business card which stated he was a Christian roofer. Yea right.

In my experience, those who proclaim their Christianity the loudest tend to be the folks who are the least honest and least ethical.

To piggyback on this, my aunt rented a cabin in the Adirondacks for a week. She mentioned it to my dad and he offered to check it out to see if it was habitable. My aunt’s response was that of course it was habitable. The ad for the cabin was in her church’s bulletin, she knew the guy and he was a church goer. He wouldn’t screw them over.
My dad dropped it. Turned out, the cabin was totally uninhabitable and my aunt and her family stayed one night in the hotel about 1/2 mile from where we lived. As it was tourist season, nothing else was available. Rather than talking to her brother, she was so embarrassed that they went home the next day. I have no idea if his sister ever did anything about the $$ they lost on that ‘cabin’.

Armpit bible thumpers I worked for contractor who was very religious but never spouted it. His actions spoke loudly enough for him.. We were remodeling the building and if anyone came in spouting I’m a Christian and I’ll give you a good price he told me to write them off. I found it interesting!

They are trying to convince themselves most of all.
