Shit. I always miss that Target gift card day! We've spent $2700, but not all on gifts. That's just all our spending together, including $1000 for car insurance x 2 cars. Got a lot of clothes/shoes this year, which is simply pent-up demand. We hadn't been buying much for a couple years, and we tend to look for deals on that stuff on black Friday. Oh, and DH wanted a KitchenAid mixer for some reason. 🤨 Because everyone needs one!Lol, well, he made cookies from scratch once in our 13.5 years of marriage, when he broke my $4 handmixer that I owned even longer. Now we're on a diet, so I really don't know what it will be used for. Wanting to cook more doesn't exactly translate into doing so (with a KitchenAid).

I am proud of myself. DH half seriously commented he was feeling nostalgic and would love a new Lite Brite.
I was at Target killing time till the kids appointment and what should I find in the holiday section?
A desktop size mini Lite Brite for $7. It's going in his stocking. Proof I actually do listen.😁

The only thing I bake is banana bread and that takes 5 minutes by hand, as its a vegan recipe.

I always have a hard time finding something to use my kohl's cash on. Well, I wanted something different for the wall of my office/former nursery. I've been looking at starry night. Found one at kohl's for ~$52 with discount. Well, did you know they take off the kohl's cash first, and then apply the other coupons? I ended up using $60 KC, and still had to pay almost $10 for tax and shipping.

I did a lot of shopping in the zomg Supply Chains Broken! wave of early sales for DS. I don’t really want to know what the total was, and I just added another $700 or so today bc I got an email alert that the Lego Titanic set was back in stock [img alt="[img class="smile" alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png"]" class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png"] $100 on SIL, who likes Philosophy potions, about $250 on the Cost Plus shopping trip for aunts uncle and FIL, another $60 at Lowes for a couple of mini potted Christmas trees and other stuff for MIL and FIL. I don’t have any exciting ideas for DH so he’s getting work shirts, a car cover and an otterbox for his new to him iphone. Maybe some new umbrellas. And every year DS helps me make matching pajama pants for him and DH. This year’s flannel has campfires and s‘mores on it Man. I really suck at budgeting. Aww, don't beat yourself up. It' Christmastime and what better reason to splurge on the people you love/care about? Sure beats being a scrooge and not doing anything for them In a complete perversion of the spirit of this board, budgeting is currently a want, not a need And I was absolutely thinking that who knows which will be the last Christmas with various older relatives. Aunt L went downhill pretty quickly after Christmas 2020 and we lost her in May. MIL is the youngest of the lot at 76. Last thing I want to do is cheap out for the sake of saving $20. I know Aunt P loved having a little pile of gifts to open even if they were just things like German chocolate, mini jams and smoked salmon. DS, on the other hand, is young enough to get really excited about Christmas and I can justify a basically infinite number of books and Lego sets

I got one a few years ago on a black friday deal and basically solely as a status symbol. It typically gets a workout for a few consecutive days a year when I do the Christmas cookies, and otherwise just sits there taking up counter space. It is chiefly useful for preventing me from buying another one I did use it several times this past year for the tiered cake project.

I use the meat grinder attachment for chopping up onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños for salsas and to mix in with burgers. I use my pasta attachment occasionally. That reminds me, I should ask hubby for more attachments for Christmas.
