I suppose I could but I'd have to pay them to deliver it. I have a modest little car and it has to be carried downstairs to the exercise area in my basement. Worth checking, though. There’s also TaskRabbit for assembly, assuming they work in your area. I've used TaskRabbit three times and every contractor was excellent.

I think they are way too pricy - at least in my area. People charging over 100/hr to put together ikea furniture.

Or rent a Uhaul if you buy an assembled bike stand. Of course that leaves you with unloading the stand when you get home. But maybe you can time that with BF visiting

But maybe you can time that with BF visiting I could probably put an assembled bike stand in my car or in the trunk. BF is a good guy but I'm in better shape than he is. He'll go to the gym regularly for awhile, then have a reason to stop (yeah, cataract surgery is a valid reason!) and then doesn't start up again. He'd be good as a "third hand" to steady things or a lookout to call 911 if I fall, but I wouldn't want to have him do much more than that. Maybe I need to trade him in for 2 35-year olds!

We have a recumbent exercise bike and it's super light. Easy to split in 2 pieces to move if needed and pop back together.

I have one. Took about 10 minutes to get it right. My son used it to train for his cross country bike trip

I made my comment bEfore I saw the other replies at how light these things really are. But just for the record, I never meant to say that BF should offload the stand by himself. I was thinking that you needed a second pair of hands, most certainly not that you are an "incapable damsel in distress"

Okay I am late to this discussion. I really thought we were coming out of the pandemic, but frankly major media has scared me over this Omicron/Delta variance shit. They want to mix them together when we know the people getting terribly sick right now are Delta patients that are unvaxxed. All reports so far have Omicron as being similar to a bad cold and not affecting the lungs as with Delta as of today. Wish the media would separate the reports on both variances for the public to make an informed decision. We are now considering skipping the big "mixed together Christmas gatherings" of siblings and the kids together as some are vaxxed, some are not. Last year we did the big group thing without spreading the virus by anyone having covid or giving it to someone. The politics have shifted in a year, whereas the story is 100% doom and gloom this year, and I admit that is because you do not have Trump bickering with the opposite side. That would be ok, but now the news is soooo negative.........and it seems like Biden is not following the science. My wife and I are of the opinion we do not know what to do anymore. Emotional gridlock.........

News on tv or in papers, both local and WSJ , seems confusing Wishing Biden would put together a group that clearly distinguishes who are going to hospital (and dying) and give weekly televised reports. Delta - % unvaxxed in hospital ( probably huge %) Omicron - % unvaxxed, % vaxxed in hospital??
Of all those many testing positive, what % are going to hospital? Yep many more positives but what are the consequences? Asymptomatic? Mildly Ill? Hospitalized? Long lines waiting for testing showing up again. Can the state/federal governments do anything so people can do testing at home even if needing to send for results I see little or no coordinated information being given to people. Just a lot of info on rising infection rates, broadway and Rockefeller shows being cancelled, football games postponed due to positive for Covid. But no specifics.
Family is all vaxxed (2 littles only first vaccine at this point) and mostly boosted of will by Christmas. But we’ve all pulled back from going out unnecessarily. I wanted to see new West Side Story but decided no. It would have been first time in theater and daytime when usually sparsely attended, I see omicron as a threat but if infection is only mild maybe needlessly worried? I don’t know if there is enough info on omicron that it is really a mild problem for most??

Well, we know that is not easy or even possible.........but so far the media justs lumps all the cases together and from the first day, science has said Omnicron is also tied to the common cold. No vaccine for the common cold. So is this variant just more like the common cold rather than covid in it's intensity? Biden and the media do not want to even consider this option. Yeh, maybe it is not, but at what point does the Administration say they see a light at the end of the tunnel rather than a locomotive coming to run you over? Even a year ago scientists were speculatiing later variences would possibly less virulent. Now we hear cricketts........And yes, I can be 100% wrong on this, but consider I now have emotional gridlock, and like a defensive football tackle, I do not know to feign left or right or go full speed ahead. And my view is, the Administration does not know which way to go, so we just go full speed ahead letting school children lose another year. How long before they are a lost generation? At what cost?

They don't know yet the morbidity for Omicron..... only that it is more infectious. (In as much as it hasn't been 28 days) Data is coming through and we should know more in a week or so. We have had 7 deaths in the UK from Omicron..... and infection rates are soaring.

Biden and his administration seem either clueless or just lazy about communicating what’s going on.

At this point, I think the people who care will seek out information, and those who don't will scream "fake news" regardless. Why stir the flames? Most are fatigued from the news, from what I see.
I'm still tracking local-to-me cases, which are down substantially from their peak. My entire family is all up-to-date with vax, and now that school is out, I'm not making them wear masks unless they're in crowds. I'm still wearing one in choir, but plan to stop after my post Christmas vacation. I'm currently masking less in the office. We're spaced out quite a bit, and all vaxed. I'm still masking more than everyone around me.

I read my daily paper(archaic, I know), but we have a treasure trove of Covid information in there on a daily basis. Right now, 75% of those hospitalized are unvaccinated, and they account for an even higher number of severe cases. You are 15-20 more likely to die if you are unvaccinated. 70-88% of all cases are the delta variant due to recent surveillance data. Omicron is not a problem yet, but it may be.
There is nothing but speculation regarding omicron. It seems to be more conservatives contagious. It may cause less severe disease. None of that is confirmed right now. We need to see how it affects people, and that takes time. And in reality, it really doesn’t matter. We have only a few tools in our toolbox. Vaccination, masking, social distancing. Since we have a significant percentage of our population who refuses to follow that advice, none of the rest of your worries matter. It will again peak, people will die, and we will argue about what can be done. Rinse, repeat. All you can do is protect yourself

Just a matter of how many will die before it happens

I just don't see how invested significant resources into detailed data collecting, analysis, and reporting would be of value.

Look at all the people lining up to be tested- more information probably would be welcomed by them All the many people already vaxxed and probably boostered would be receptive to more information. Should we just say well the (at this point) minority of people who won’t be vaccinated won’t listen so f… it, nothing new here, just move on

They are the most susceptible, they are the ones dying, they are the ones filling the hospital. Getting the vaccine and mitigation refusers to do the right thing matters far more than getting those of us who do the right thing to do more. The unvaccinated are the ones who are prolonging the pandemic. Until they have some form of immunity, the pandemic continues. All you can do is protect yourselves. And I didagree that there has been inadequate information. There has been too much disinformation, especially from those who were supporters of the former president. If they were to STFU, maybe you would not be do confused

More importantly, by the time we get some of the information people want, we will be in the middle of the next surge, and it won’t matter. People need to adjust their behavior now. Good luck with that

What is your issue in restarts yo that statement. We know variants would happen, but what they would be is entirely unknowable. And, since our options are the same regardless of the variant, advice does not change I was referencing VP Harris's response. Surely she, as well as President Biden are not, shall we say, " that misinformed"?

They should have known that these were the variants that would occur? They are aware variants would happen. And regardless, the advice on what to do doesn’t change
