I still call it Bidenflation, and yes, it has gotten really bad. Deny it all you want people, but National polling suggests Biden and the democrats will not do what is necesary to slow it down.

Other than the Fed tightening, which is SOP for fighting inflation, what do YOU suggest? I’m sure you remember the technique worked under Reagan to attack inflation twice as severe.

I prefer Putinflation, but whatever makes you happy. This war is affecting the supply chain. I can only imagine what the prices are going to be like in Europe.

Since the Russians are destroying land and infrastructure it will take years to recover. Was just reading about how Japan only supplies around 46% of the needed buckwheat for Soba noodles, the rest coming mostly from Russia.

Ukraine is a major exporter of grain, specifically wheat & corn. I don't think we're even close at hitting the top of food prices yet. They were just talking on the news that this is the time of year that the farmers in Ukraine are supposed to be planting their crops. Not happening. It's going to be a rough year.

Yes, imagine how bad it would be if Republicans were in charge, considering their almost perfect record at being worse than Democrats.

This is not a hard concept to recognize.

Gas prices have been creeping up for a while, starting during the Trump administration. www.cbsnews.com/news/gas-prices-record-high-oil/In the meantime, oil companies are profiting hand over fist. www.reuters.com/business/energy/big-oil-tell-congress-markets-not-companies-set-fuel-prices-testimony-2022-04-05/ Everything we consumers buy has a transportation component to it. Farmers use gas fueled equipment to plant, tend, and harvest crops and of the energy consumed by livestock farmers, distillate is the biggest energy component. And then farmers have to transport their product to consumers. Take out the gasoline costs ~~ to produce and transport everything we buy ~~ and inflation would be much lower, from the cost of a box of cereal at the grocery store to the cost of roofing shingles for a new house. Why are we not blaming the oil companies for the cost of a box of cereal or a pound of ground beef?

Well, I do believe that at least one solution has been suggested by either Biden or the Democrats or both and the GOP cried bloody murder. Tax the profits of these big companies that continue to rake in more & more. It's not Biden that is causing it, it's the big companies that vote GOP and also contribute to the GOP campaigns. Go talk to Koch & see what he has to say about it!

How about October 1? you are probably pretty good at math. for the YOY inflation rate to be 3.6% in November, the MONTHLY inflation rate will have to be WAY LESS THAN THAT between now and then.

Yeah, but I would be just fine if it stayed a bit elevated for July, August, and September before it dropped precipitously. Call me crazy.

And why would the Republicans go along with it? It's to their advantage (in order to have something to use to get people to vote for them) to make sure that inflation stays as high as possible for as long as possible.
