She took pictures of herself in front of her dad's casket with him slightly visible in it. Instagram model who posed by her dad's casket says there's 'nothing wrong' with what she posted after backlashJayne Rivera posted a series of photos on Instagram on Monday following the funeral of her father, 56-year-old Jose Antonio Rivera, who died on October 11, according to NBC News. Local NBC affiliate NBC 6 reported that he was a veteran who served in Afghanistan. Rivera, 20, is a social media influencer who has grown a following through her fashion and fitness posts. According to her website, she is also a fitness model, professional athlete, and OnlyFans creator. While her Instagram account is no longer active, Social Blade, a social-media analytics company, reports that she had over 80,000 followers on the platform. She has more than 300,000 followers on TikTok, where her account is still active, though she hasn't posted about the backlash as of Friday morning. Complete article here: linkMaybe I am getting too old to see folks always needing to be 'on'. Seems this should have been a private event for her.

Seems stupid. She could have posed outside or not posed at all. There's nothing right with what she did.

I'm 46 and avoid influencers as much a possible, but I get that they need to always "be on". However, there were better ways for her to do that. Being sexy with zero sign of sadness in front her dad's casket is 1,000% wrong. Shows what type of person she is IMO, and it sounds like a lot of her followers saw this as bad taste.

They often come across as rather shallow and self-centered to me.

I could get past posting that she was at her Dad's funeral. It's the nature of the pictures that bother me. She treated it like a fashion shoot. Even choosing to wear that particular outfit to her Dad's funeral is odd. She doesn't come across as a grieving daughter at all. If I had been one of her followers I would have hit unfollow after seeing this.

My mom would murder me. If she had gone first she'd rise from the grave to murder me. My grandmother would rise to devour what's left.
I'm pretty sure most normal humans understand that someone is not going to be on at a funeral. There are just some things you don't do.
But if being famous for being famous is her goal mission accomplished. She's made headlines and has way more than 8k people talking about her.
So beyond tacky but impressively strategic.

I do think there is a lot of pressure on popular youtubers/tiktoks/whatever social media people are creating for viewers to constantly produce new content. We've gone from being ok with waiting a week to see "our favorite show" to needing to see a new "episode" everytime we have free time to watch.
That said... if I saw the pictures with the only context being the woman's dad is in the coffin behind her... my first thoughts would be - wow.. his daughter seems rather happy her dad is dead. Must have been one heck of an awful relationship. And I can't tell who was the "bad guy" in the relationship from the pictures.
With the added info that the daughter is an influencer - I'm leaning towards she contributes to being the "bad guy". She willing to use a loved one for her own personal gain. which means maybe she doesn't really love them all that much.
I'm not that much of a stickler for proper funeral etiquette. So, I'm not shocked and appalled. But the pictures do seem to tell a story of little love between daughter and dad. I'm guessing there's friction with the rest of the family..

At my dad's wake/visitation, about 20 or so members and their director of the men's chorus my dad used to belong to sang three or four of their songs. They were respectful while there. Never had I seen that before but I was okay with it as they honored dad. The chorus used to and probably still do compete in men's chorus competitions in the northeast U.S. and Canada.

I find this both uncouth and crass. I am on the far side of conservative decorum for dress and privacy though.

Do Social Media Influencers Always Need To Be On? I think that the answer to this is "yes" because of the psychological profile of someone who works to become a social influencer.

I follow someone who is “Facebook famous”. When I first started following her, her Mom had died some months prior.
I watched a live where she was upset about something that had happened in her life and she ended up going to where her Mom was buried, I guess because that was what she felt she needed in that moment. But it wasn’t her being “on”, it was her being raw and vulnerable, tears and all. I could never put myself out there like that, but her lives had become part of how she tried to deal with her Mom’s death, so it worked for her, in a way that it would’ve never worked for me. And her sharing those moments was never disrespectful in any way to her Mom and her memory.
The woman in the OP, just tacky. I can’t see me standing in front of/beside/in the same room/on the same planet with the body of someone I truly love and posing for photos for my brand. I can’t see myself being so crass if I’m a social media influencer or the ruler of the entire Earth. I didn’t even have a real relationship with my biological father, and I still wouldn’t have done that when he died.

Look at all the “free publicity” she’s getting now. People who never heard of her will be checking her out now. Mission accomplished.
