Whoa, my Trump-approved R rep has come out IN FAVOR of gun control! Of course, the party has declared him persona non grata, and is scrambling to primary him out. Everything is wacky, because the gerrymandered maps were thrown out at the last sec, so they've all *just* figured out which new district they each want to run in, and the primary date was pushed out. Jacobs' district was the one cut and parcelled out to different adjacent districts. My area got added onto Higgins' D Buffalo district. Woohoo! So Jacobs is now running in Tom Reed's (mostly) old district further south - Tom Reed was embarrassed by a sexual harassment case and announced he wouldn't run again but would finish out his term, then abruptly quit last month. Conservatives seek primary challenger after Jacobs gun reform commentsI’m insanely jealous right now. I’m stuck with Marge Peach Tree Greene. Jacobs is generally a non-entity. He does nothing, has no opinion beyond official R marching orders, rarely in the news. He's just the rich guy in the seat bought by his wealthy business family dynasty (Delaware North Company). So it was noteworthy that he *had* an opinion, even more so that it was against R policy and actually was common sense, *for* the good of our community. So, ironically, his own party begins cutting him off at the knees. Before, he couldn't lose a bright red district, and had no opposition as Reed had already left the throne open for him. I disliked him as a Trump endorsed R who followed party lines, but now that he shows a bit of backbone and independent thought - the R party machine is full speed ahead to install a much more rabid right winger instead!

And... Jacobs is out - he knuckled under to Republican pressure to drop his re-election bid. Jacobs re-election & gun control Of COURSE Carl Paladino has rushed to put his name in, the man has negative morals. NO to Carl Paladino! The party is smarter than that - Paladino is polarizing and might just turn enough voters OFF to lose this bright red district. They will crown a sufficiently loyal party operative instead of a loose cannon.

I doubt if it will stem the Republican wave this fall but the Republican majority might be five seats or so closer than originally thought.

I see a recount in the future for the "Jesus, Guns, Babies" candidate. Trump loyalist who lost Georgia governor primary with just 3.4% of the vote is refusing to admit defeatcandidate for the GOP nomination for governor of Georgia refused to concede defeat even though she received only 3.4% of the vote on Tuesday. Kandiss Taylor, a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump, came third in the race. She received significantly fewer votes than David Perdue, who had Trump's formal endorsement, and incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp, who won by 73.7% and secured the nomination. After the results were clear, Taylor complained that the election was "rigged" against her, The Daily Beast reported. Trump loyalist who lost Georgia governor primary with just 3.4% of the vote is refusing to admit defeatthe MAGA crowd doesn't believe in elections. they believe in divine purpose. they should run for Dalai Lama. They don't believe in divine purpose. They just use it as a cover for their current POV. The Dalai Lama is not an elected post. Popes are elected though.

"Right now, you know what, I'm gonna say something I probably shouldn't. Do you know right now, I have something that can bring you into a building that would clean you from Covid as you walk through this dry mist. As you walk through the door, it will kill any Covid on your body. When you leave, it will kill the virus as you leave. This here product -- they don't want to talk about that. They don't want to hear about that."
"Cain killed Abel and that's a problem that we have. What we need to do is look into how we can stop those things. You know, you talked about doing a disinformation -- what about getting a department that can look at young men that's looking at women, that's looking at their social media. What about doing that? Looking into things like that and we can stop that that way. But yet they want to just continue to talk about taking away your constitutional rights. And I think there's more things we need to look into. This has been happening for years and the way we stop it is putting money into the mental health field, by putting money into other departments rather than departments that want to take away your rights."

That’s why he wouldn’t debate the other GOP candidates in the primary. Can’t string a line of words together to make sense. Of course that doesn’t matter. GOPers will still vote for him.

Never seen anything like it in my life and surely never expected so called conservatives to turn their back on everything they claim to believe in.

I don't think many shootings involve brothers killing brothers over an inheritance. Sounds like he's proposing massive govt investigation into young men's social media simply to not put restrictions on guns and who can purchase them. I have wondered if the shooting in Texas and Sandy Hook was partially because neither gunman felt satisfied after shooting their relative and decided shooting up where they worked would be another way to get back at them.

On a personal level, I think the second quote offers a troubling glimpse into Walker's mind and his struggles rather than a statement with political intent. On the political level, I see the two quotes as simply showing evidence of a person not suited to take on a major role in governance of our nation and have to hope enough Georgia voters agree.

You go into the polling place and they ask if you want a Democrat or Republican ballot. You can’t vote in both, but any registered voter can pick a team. The plot thickens with cross-over voting in Georgia primaries

Mike Lindell is insisting Kemp cheated his way to win the GOP primary for Governor- blowing out Trumps pick Perdue.
He claims it’s impossible Kemp got 70% of the vote, and once again blamed Dominion voting machines- they currently have a defamation lawsuit against him, so I guess that sue him twice, right?
Lindell said ‘they want our country.’
But the ‘they’ is a Republican.
So now the MAGA minions are fighting back both political parties?

“Did they not think anybody is going to look? No, they don’t care. They want our country,” he said.
The mysterious they who want to elect a republican who was in office prior? How does that enable anyone to steal the country? Has he forgotten Kemp was in office part of the time Trump was? Is Lindell ever going to stop acting crazy pretending he knows things about elections?

i agree with don. he is genuinely batshit.
having said that, i want to tell everyone here AGAIN about my dad. he went to Stanford. he was an engineer. he could definitely think. but under the influence of 25 years of Rush Limbaugh, he had drunk the sauce. he hated government, liberals, probably blacks. he became a very small, introverted person. and his news diet was almost exclusively right wing radio and FOX.
so, yeah. even a smart person can fall victim.
i am not convinced that Lindell is smart. he talks like someone who is about 2 beers short of a sixpack.

I don’t want to be an armchair psychologist but Lindell was an addict in his younger days, then got clean. I’ve known people with addictive personalities before who overcame a drug addiction and got addicted to something else. Sometimes they got really into working out, one woman I know became a shopping addict. It kind of looks like Lindell might have gotten really into making his pillow empire, and possibly into being a Christian, and then Trump and the MAGA cult pulled him in. He’s got that kind of glassy eyed look and overheated language that people way down a rabbit hole get. I actually feel bad for him - he so badly wants to help Trump and seems to revere him almost like a divinity but you know Trump would throw him under the wheels in a heart beat if it served a purpose for him. Trump doesn’t give a shit about him.

Totally irrelevant factoid: Herschel Walker played for two years on the Trump owned New Jersey Generals of the old USFL link. I ran across this when looking for something else.

Not-so-irrelevant factoid: Donald Trump ruined the USFL because he so badly wanted to own an NFL team but they didn't want him. He tried to force a competition so that the leagues would merge like the NFL and AFL did. Screwed everybody because of his own greed and ego. Not a big surprise to anybody, is it?

www.racetothewh.com/senate/2022Democrats are up to 55%. tossup states are still Nevada, Georgia, PA. Democrats are still favored in three of the four. Republicans have to WIN two of the three to flip the Senate. their best chance is NV, and Georgia (in that order) their odds of winning Georgia is about 2:3 right now. it's not good. but it is certainly something they can clear. anyone with feelings on the Georgia race should chime in. i took OH out of the tossup category. for now. NV is not really a tossup at this point. that means that the GOP has to win BOTH PA and GA. their best chance is in GA, where polling says they trail by 2.2% their odds of winning PA are about the same as their odds of losing OH = 3:5 Dems are up to 56% chance of keeping the Senate.
