Madison Cawthorne, that MAGA pipsqueak, is failing to find a lot of support at home and might lose his primary. Could lose it to another MAGA Republican, but hopefully not such an obnoxious one. I think Cawthorn really hurt himself with his made up story of orgies and drugs in the ranks of the older GOPers. The guy seems like a pathological liar. Why did he think that would work out for him? Either that, or he is punking us to see how far he would have to go to embarass the GOP. Apparently it is pretty far!

Pence is coming to support Kemp at a rally in Georgia on May 23rd.
I always figured Pence was a piece of white bread but I do admire how, late in the game, he’s been standing up to Trump.
He must be counting on the GOP coming out of their MAGA fever dream and back to reality. Don’t think we’re there yet.

www.racetothewh.com/senate/2022Democrats are up to 54%. tossup states are still Nevada, Georgia, PA, and OH. Democrats are still favored in three of the four. Republicans have to WIN three of the four to flip the Senate. their best chance is still OH, NV, and Georgia (in that order) their odds of winning Georgia is about 2:3 right now. it's not good. but it is certainly something they can clear. anyone with feelings on the Georgia race should chime in.

One douchebag out. Probably not possible to get rid of more like him like MTG. Madison Cawthorn loses his re-election bid after a deluge of scandals.
Chuck Edwards, a three-term state senator and business owner, has edged out Representative Madison Cawthorn in the Republican primary for a House seat representing North Carolina’s 11th District. Luke Ball, a representative for Mr. Cawthorn, said late Tuesday that the congressman had called Mr. Edwards to concede. Mr. Edwards’s narrow triumph was called by The Associated Press. The outcome served as a rebuke of Mr. Cawthorn, a right-wing firebrand and the youngest freshman in Congress, who was once seen as a rising star of the Republican Party. It is also a significant victory for the old guard Republicans in North Carolina and Washington who in recent months had been feuding with Mr. Cawthorn over his personal and political errors and foibles. Madison Cawthorn loses his re-election bid after a deluge of scandals.

With Cawthorne losing I have to hope the other obnoxious MAGA big mouths in Congress realize their hi jinx are not universally loved in the old guard GOP party.

Trump's "winning percentage" is an illusion, just as so much about him is. He usually picks either incumbents who are easily expected to win re-election, or candidates who are running unopposed. In most races that are expected to be competitive, he will wait until there is one candidate well ahead before he chooses, in order to make it seem like he only picks winners. You either know this and don't care, or you are an idiot. I'm guessing the former, but one never really knows....

Yea except for the cases where he’s trying to get vengeance on one of his hated enemies. He picked Perdue over Kemp in the GA Governor race a long time ago, out of spite, and last I looked Kemp was ahead by double digits.
When Trump waits to see who the top pick is before declaring he does pretty well.

Trump is telling Oz to just declare himself the winner of theGOP senate primary in PA.
Even though the race is too close to call.
Because that’s how it’s done now - by calling dibs.

I know it is a small state but neither of these strategies make sense of Trump's endorsement in the Idaho Governor race. Glad to be amongst the small number of Trump losses, because his pick was nuts.

I’ve got Elise Stafanik, aka TrumpJr I know! She's really getting lots of attention (not the good kind) for her use of Great Replacement Theory themes. My old district at the end of the list was slated to go poof. The earlier redistricting maps had my *new* district stretching the entire length of Lake Ontario, skirting around tiny little blue pockets like Buffalo, Rochester, and other cities. This map actually includes my entire county, plus half of Erie county with Buffalo. Much more sensible, broadly representative of a section of the region. Looks like my parents drop into Reed's district. Oops, he just quit. Seems to be a familiar maneuver, Collins pulled that stunt, too.

Another Pennsylvania Republican candidate who suddenly has no problem with Pennsylvania's election system is Mastriano. A cynic might conclude that this is because it delivered him a handsome victory. link Guess I'm a cynic.

PA GOP is very unhappy about that - thanks to Trumps meddling the have a candidate running for Governor who has pledged to conduct a 2020 election audit (because that’s what it took to get Trump to back him). PA thinks Mastriano is unelectable. Similar circumstances in GA where stone faced Perdue starts every stump speech with ‘Trump won the 2020 election’ but in GA, the current Governor Kemp is leading him by 32 points.

Lawrence O'Donnel framed this race as the only thing standing between democracy and dictatorship. i think that is a bit dramatic, but i see his point.

Cawthorn posted a whinge instagram about how the establishment turned their backs on him and very few people had his back.
He also claimed the time for gentile politics as usual has come to an end. It’s time for the rise of the new right. It’s time for Dark MAGA to truly take command.
As the Daily Beast author wrote, one presumes the ‘time for gentile politics’ does not refer to the politics of non Jews.
Can’t link on phone.
Wonder if Dark MAGA is some kind of video game.

Voted for Kemp - if he beats Trump’s pick is will suppress the GOP voters in the fall, and the Dem Stacy Abrams has a better shot at winning. She only lost by 7 points last time she ran against Kemp. Also got to vote for another GOP candidate rather than Marge Greene; unfortunately I think Greene will still win.

Trump dumped Perdue. I guess he figured if he dumps him now, he won’t have to bear any responsibility for his loss. I wonder if the Dem candidate Abrams will run any ads quoting Trump saying he would vote for Abrams rather than Kemp for governor?
A talking head was saying GA gop voters were unhappy with Trump picking Dr Oz in PA - not sure why that influences their pick for GA Governor.
