Law professor, cited by Trump attorney John Eastman, says his argument was abused as part of a 'ploy' to get Pence to overturn the 2020 electionA law professor whose work was cited as part of an effort to overturn the 2020 election says former President Donald Trump's legal team butchered his argument as part of their "ploy" to disenfranchise millions of voters. But nowhere in the September 2020 piece did Tribe and his coauthors argue that Pence would have the power to do any of this on his own, be it rejecting slates of electors or handing the matter off to the House. Tribe was unimpressed. "This Eastman memo pretends to be based on my analysis," he posted on Twitter, "but in fact takes snippets of my work wholly out of context and spits a totally fake web of 'law' that no halfway decent lawyer would take seriously." I never thought I would have anything positive to say about Mike Pence, however, he saved America. I know we are still a total mess, but, things would have been violent if Pence had complied.

I guess Pence asked multiple people and never got the answer Trump wanted.

The President of the United States asked the Vice President to do something. Of course he considered it. And then didn't do it when he determined he didn't have the power. Sounds like he did his job.

Sounds like he did his job. the ask was to overturn an election. it should not have been considered. He exercised due diligence by researching it.

the man was Vice President. he should KNOW what his job is, and what it is not.
furthermore, if he believed there was fraud, then he should have informed himself otherwise. that only multiplies his very real flaws.
I agree with Rukh. he should have told Trump to stuff it. that would have been the respectable thing to do.

Ha ha ha The idiot playing President in this reality horror show didn't know what is job was so it is kind of a far leap that he would pick a VP that would know shit about his job without Mother telling him.

Mike Pence was never a constitutional scholar or lawyer. And frankly, with this situation having never come up before, I could see why he would think "hmm- that doesn't sound right. I will ask the experts."
Isn't that what we want these days. Instead of just believing you KNOW something - listen to the experts. If you are right, they will only confirm it. If you are wrong, you can learn something new.

Former President Trump knows everything about everything. He doesn't need advice from anyone. I see that as a major fault. I appreciate people who seek other's views on critical issues.
