I can now pay my HOA fees "electronically". The HOA lady gave me the Bank, the Account # and the Routing #. I would really like to do this. But, I cannot figure out if I need to set up a "bill pay" or a Transfer OR something else (it's not a Zelle thing as I have the routing/account#) from my Chase account with this info. If I do a "Bill Pay" set up it looks like Chase will mail them a check. Which I don't want to do (I can mail them a check!) Is there a way to set up a bill pay and enter the routing/account#? If I do a "transfer" - I can enter in the routing/account info but it looks like it needs ME to sign into this account and then - to verify the small deposit Chase will do to verify the account. I can't sign into the account - it's not mine - it's the HOA's account. Do I just let the nice HOA lady know to watch for the small deposit amount and then have her verify the account (send me the $$ info so I can verify on my end)?? I ONLY want to be able to send money to this account (which I do not own). How am I think about this wrongly ? This shouldn't be that hard.

I just do bill pay for most Yes the bank does send a check but I don’t need to write it out, find and address label or spend money for a stamp
I’m do let the electric company get payment from my account but all I did was fill out my bank info on the electric company form. I didn’t need to contact my bank

You would do an ACH. When I did AR, I would often get emails with the detail from the ACH payments that I would see come into the bank account everyday. Not sure if it may cost you (from your own bank) something to do it that way. I'd ask your bank.

The way I did it to fund a CD with Discoverbank is I put my transfer information on their site. I picked the CD term and amount then they did the transfer and sent me a confirmation.

After a lot of searching and googling for "help" - I can only do an ACH transfer to an account I own. I don't own the account I'm trying to send money to. I can use a 3rd party vendor and send money to the HOA account - but there's a fee for that service (more than the expense of a stamp and envelop) I'm going to ask about doing a Zelle payment to the HOA account. In theory, there's an email address associated with it... or a phone number.... so Zelle would work.

I've never had any trouble doing a transfer to account that wasn't mine so long as I had the routing and account #s. I couldn't transfer anything out but there were no restrictions on in.
I use my BillPay to schedule everything. The bank decides if it's a transfer of 1s and 0s or if they're going to send a check. If they send a check, I know it'll take longer to clear since that requires a person to perform that activity on the receiving end.

No - you dont have to sign into the receiving account.

My utilities are all ACH drafts.
I also do online bill pay, but have to make sure to give it enough time to get there if they are going to mail a check. Usually my online bill pays are to small businesses around here that are going to receive a paper check.

When I attempted to set this up thru Chase Bill Pay - It wanted me to choose a "payee" from their list of payees (which the HOA is not in). When I couldn't do that - I set up the "payee" manually but I pretty much got railroaded into giving Chase the name and address (no routing number/account) so Chase could cut a check and mail it.
My goal in setting this up was avoid a snail mail check whether I wrote it and mailed it or my bank doing it.

I've never used Venmo but have used PayPal. All you need is the email address associated with the account--assuming they have a PayPal--and then you just send money to a friend. Business transactions always incur fees so I always send it to "a friend". I like the trackability of the transaction and that you can look up your transaction history.

Sorry, I should have said EFT. I always confuse the 2. EFT pushes out from your account. ACH authorizes the other party to pull from your account.
