This does not surprise me. I work at a grocery store and we are really hurting to find humans to do the things that need to be done. Also, we're placing orders that our warehouses are treating as suggestions and they're routinely shipping this stuff to us two hours late and not telling us what did not make it on the truck. We dutifully pull and analyze their "not shipped" reports but they are not timely complete, or accurate. Basically, our information management systems are deteriorating along with our JIT supply chain system. We're spreading what we get out across the display area and doing our best not to look empty, but there just isn't that much product coming in. If we ever stopped our bitching and whining and back-stabbing, it would be obvious that we're just not getting product shipped to us and spreading it across the spaces as best as possible just does not take much time unless you feel compelled to do the whining and CYA that does not qualify as meaningful or useful work.
We'd be better off busier. This business of standing in twos and threes and finding fault with everyone else is just so wrong.

So far, our Publix hours are still 7am-10pm. So far.

Our Publix might as well close at 9. Most of this little town rolls up the streets & shuts off the lights at 9! Even folks that put out Christmas deco...often shut it off at 9pm.

When I saw the subject I panicked. I thought you meant they were closing! Publix is my go to store and we have a new one under construction. I think this will make 5 county wide. Glad they are just closing early. I can only hope they continue to open early. I’m an early bird shopper.

NoNamePerson So far, it's only in Charlotte, NC, but even the ones that are shortening their hours are keeping their early hours for elderly/handicapped. I think they're on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Well, I sure hope no one needs a script filled after 9pm in this town or surrounding area. There won't be any pharmacies open since Publix will close at 9pm. I needed one after a visit to ER a couple years ago & they were the only place open to get it filled.

Wow! Our pharmacy in town closes at 4pm during the week. 2:30pm on Saturday. Closed on Sunday. I have to go to the town 30 minutes away to go to one that's open to 9pm. And I get excited they are open so late! I can't comprehend one that's 24 hours....
