Interesting topic! I got my first salaried job 20 years ago, working in higher ed administration (so yes, that means the non-profit world). Counting that one I've worked at 4 different institutions, having been promoted internally at my first and current job. My current position is slightly over 3x my salary of 20 years ago. The benefits are also decent. Even though I'm in a much higher cost of living area, my retirement savings have jumped a lot which is very encouraging.

Ignoring my $4.25 / hour job at 14, my first full-time job after college in the early 2000's was 50k / year. I now make 200k with a bonus that gets me a smidgen over 270k, so looks like I'm at 5.4x in just under 20 years, or 4x if talking base only. For fun, my hourly rate has increased ~32x since I was 14. Not bad for IT work.

Everything sounds impressive, but was just reading that a 100k salary in 1980 would need to be about 334k today. So - looking at increases over decades needs some inflation adjustments.
