Ignorant, selfish, and mean - does that about sum up 'Merica? I refuse to believe that’s the majority here. It’s the loud, paranoid, conspiracy minded sheep that are spewing out bullshit they scraped out of the dark recesses of the internet, assaulting everyone else verbally, physically, and with their intestinal worm parasite medicine flavored viral mouth sprays who are getting the most attention, especially when they end up dying from what they claim is a hoax. The majority of us just stand in the background, wringing our hands, hoping they’ll get some sense along with decorum. On a daily basis I type an angry comment into my Facebook feed and then erase it because I don’t want to start a fight IRL. Who would think politeness would be my downfall.

People are stupid. Wear a mask and get the vaccine If you don’t want to, then stop freaking protesting and disrupting people who do. I'm actually just angry. Leadership who knows better is purposefully misleading vulnerable people in a political game which may cost their followers their lives and brings out the worst selfish instincts in people. How does that math work in their favor? It is circular. Leadership is parroting what their people want to hear, and then the people repeat what has been said- because now it came from an authority, solidifying their opinion and making it more the thing they want to hear, so politicians say it back to them, and they say it to the politicians, who then say it back to them. How do you break that cycle?? It isn't like the politicians can say something else, because they get voted out and lose their platform, and the people install someone who will validate their beliefs. Which only makes them believe it more.

I will not feel bad for whatever happens to unvaccinated adults by choice (medical only exemptions in my book). I do feel bad for their children who are not having a say in the matter.

You've opened that Pandora's box and look what happened. Live with the consequences!

Very disappointed that over 300 people (including children who came with their parents) were protesting vaccines at the local Hospital on Monday. Somewhat heartened by the fact that it took people travelling from other parts of the Northern Health Authority to reach this number.
Apparently it was a delightful mix of anti-any vaccine people, anti-covid vaccine people, anti-mandatory covid vaccine people and anti-vaccine passport people. On the plus side, an unknown number of them said they had been fully vaccinated and I even spotted a few masks in some of the pictures I saw.
Life continues to make some strange bedfellows.

mollyc - Are you saying they bussed people in? Sounds familiar. 🤔 I don't know if people chartered busses or drove themselves but some of the protestors interviewed said they were from other cities or towns in the region. I don't think people were paid to be there is that's what you mean. One of the anti-mandated vaccine people said she was a nurse from Kitimat so she travelled about 6 hours or so (depending on how fast they drove). Her quote is: “I feel disrespected – I am here today because B.C. is already in a nursing crisis, we are short healthcare workers, and then they’re coming out with this mandate that all healthcare workers have to be double vaccinated or else you’re terminated,” said Kitimat LPN, Nissa Wellman. Protest in front of UHNBC
I maybe would care more either way if I wasn't one of the majority who thinks you should be vaccinated if you can be. * UHNBC is the largest hospital in the region and the head offices for Northern Health Authority are in PG so that may have been the rationale for travelling rather then protesting at home.

I am disheartened by how many of us have given up on others and don't really care if they get COVID. I understand it, but it's still sad. My empathy bank is empty. I have been through the wringer in the last 18 months. We know how to protect people, but they are unwilling to accept our help. I no longer care if unvaccinated, unmasked people get this, and I will say good riddance to those dying who actively made this worse. Their passing actually decrease the amount of evil in this world. These are the same people who have accused me and my colleagues of lying, lining our own pockets, and many other sins. I have little left to give. I will do my job like I always will, but I will not shed a tear if they die. I will save that for those they infect My brother just texted me...he is going to a 46-year-old friend's funeral today. Friend was not vaccinated and died of COVID, leaves behind an infected 15-year-old son (who is hospitalized, getting better but cannot say his final farewells at his own dad's funeral today). Seriously. This is a snapshot of what we have come to. And no, I do not blame the caregivers in society. They have been asked for too much for too long. At this point, I think the non-vaccinated who get sick should be warehoused or sent home to their self-imposed fate. Stop taking up hospital space. Stop kicking hospice patients out of beds so your sorry freedom-loving butts can occupy them. Stop waving signs in the road about how masks are child abuse; the kids could care less. Stop listening to our moronic maniac of a tyrant governor touting antibody treatment AFTER you get sick and threatening to withhold school funding if districts don't fall in line with his lunatic policies. He does not care about your kids. Your kids are just collateral damage in his magic carpet political power trip (or his own show on Fox News). Your kids cannot vote and their voices are not loud enough to be heard. Common sense will go far in sparing us death, pain, and suffering. If you lack common sense, step aside and let those who have an abundance of it run things, and you just fall in behind and follow.

Complexities aside, it seems they'd rather have most their stores open with 10% of the staff than close anything. Isn't that like saying that you would rather have a shitty job and keep getting paychecks instead of having no job and no money? Not in my perspective but YMMV. As a business owner, I'd rather have fewer stores with more personnel in them.
