Sorry that way of communicating is over your head. I was trying to have a dialogue with you. Forgot I shouldn’t waste my time. You would rather play semantic games. You posted something for “information” purposes only. Something that is difficult for us to do anything about, and something that may or may not be important. But you have no opinion on what we should do. Got it. Your game continues. What else am I thinking and doing ? Boring the crap out of people. That’s your game.

Where's al the effective leadership that was going to take care of the problem ? The Biden virus is running rampant. Trump could have and should have set a different tone from the beginning. We, as a country, would be in a stronger position to battle mutations taking place in other parts of the world if he had. As to the mutations themselves, they are what they are. They need to be dealt with in a non-alarmist manner.

As to the mutations themselves, they are what they are. They need to be dealt with in a non-alarmist manner. I don't understand how tone makes a difference on the spread of a novel virus. During Trumps virus time, 2020, there was no vaccine. Things seem to be just as bad now as then, with a segment of the population being vaccinated. Even the lowest % states are what 30 % vaccinated ? Where is this leadership that was going to help ? I'm just remembering our highly educated doctor saying Trump was at fault and wanted his take on this. He seems to have reversed his position on difficulty and leadership Personslly I didn't want to do politics with this, but others bring it up. You only get one chance to start at the beginning . If you screw it ip then, all you can do is play catch up. The pandemic is raging in areas of the country with low vaccination rates. Since you believe in personal choice, little can be done. But, it is not worth talking with someone who is not trying to be serious. Bills post above is completely accurate

You can forget all your personal projections on what I'm doing, thinking, believing. Save that juvenile nonsense for someone else. And just stop baiting me. Leave me out of you constant parsing so you can misrepresent what is said. You are tiresome. You are smart enough to recognize the mistakes made since you ran a large company and made a lot of money. Spare me your “staying above the fray” nonsense. I am done with this thread

I am done with this thread Looks like you don't have an answer to what Trump screwed up. You never did. It's because he didn't, there was nothing he could of done to stop the spread in any meaningful way. Just like now, even with large segments of the population vaccinated and new Democrat leadership, it still runs rampant. You will be unable to deflect me with personal attacks, so time to run away (again). He screwed up by not taking a positive leadership role in regards to masking and social distancing. He screwed up by taking the podium and publicly discuss ideas on treatments rather than have such discussions privately and then allow experts to be the public face of the fight.

None of those would of stopped the spread in any meaningful way. We are in a fourth wave with all those things now being done for 8 months, and a vaccine. Even the lowest % vaccinated states are about 30%, and those vaccinated are the high risk. The Biden virus still runs rampant. Masking and social distancing are not being done in the manner they would have been the had been strong presidential leadership from the start.

After 8 months I think that is enough time for it to catch on, even with weak leadership. I wonder how bad it would be right now with no vaccine. No length of time is enough with the screwed up start provided by Trump.

Many other developed countries slowed the spread significantly. Leadership, masking, and social distancing. Meanwhile 2000 people per day continue to die here. And get out of here with that bullshit of calling it the Biden virus.

What we had was a business executive with no education, training, nor experience in virology or epidemiology taking stage center in daily briefings on the pandemic. He offered a lot of, "What about this?", "I heard about this", "How about trying that", "I think this", "I think that". He created a lot of confusion.

With regard to who is mostly responsible for the horrific response we have had to this virus, it is impossible to lay the blame anywhere other than Donald Trump. His actions and statements from the very start continue to reverberate throughout the country. His supporters, and Republicans in general to a somewhat lesser degree, continue to act in ways that ensure us not getting a handle on the problem and leading to many tens or hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths.
Consider: There are 27 states that have Republican governors, while 23 have Democratic governors. Of the 25 worst-performing states (those with the highest number of cases per capita), 19 are led by Republicans. Of the six led by Democrats, three of those voted strongly for Trump, while two more went for Biden by slim margins. Only one state with a Democratic governor and which also voted strongly for Biden is in the bottom 25.
Further, there were 25 states that voted for Trump and 26 (including D.C.) that voted for Biden. Of those bottom 25 states, 20 voted for Trump. Three voted for Biden by very thin margins of less than 1%. One voted for Biden by a slim margin of less than 2.5%. Only one voted solidly for Biden. I think we can also take it as a given that Republican states and governors are the ones fabricating or falsifying data to make their numbers not look as bad as they are. DeSantis in Florida is the obvious example, but I would not bet against there being several others. Even with that possibility of numbers being manipulated, Republican states are performing drastically worse than Democratic states. The commonality in all of them is who they listen to and take their orders from. It's the whining conman.

Sounds like you are suggesting that leadership and a consistent message from leadership has little or no effect on motivating people or achieving a goal. That's not what I learned in my Business classes in College a million years ago. And it's not what I've seen in action in the workplace for the last 35 years. Heck, even the religion I grew up with didn't work that way. and it's not how "winning" or succeeding works in any of the cooperative games I play (when someone doesn't take the lead and when the other players aren't willing to compromise or cooperate the team usually loses the game or it ends badly really badly.) Am I confused? too idealistic? not really living in the "real world"?

No official confusion. Still dealing with the screwed up start. After 8 months you think there would be some type of effective plan. This administration has a vaccine, could you imagine what it would be like right now, without the Trump vaccine I guess we'd be buying vaccines developed in other Countries... the UK seemed to come up with something about the same time as we did. Oh wait... are we the only country that developed a vaccine??

This administration has a vaccine, could you imagine what it would be like right now, without the Trump vaccine. I thought there was a plan... wear a mask, get vaccinated. There seem to be a lot of States that don't seem to think these things are important. I'm not sure what plan most of the Southern States are following... My Florida relatives are not following any of the "plan" that my State puts forth. That's kind of the problem... for the first 11 months of the pandemic trump never really worked towards getting all the States to do the same things. OK, maybe he did - maybe he endorsed "do nothing" and my state said: "Yeah, no... we're gonna do something". I'd hate to see what would be happening in my state if we went the "it's not a big deal... no need to wear a mask or social distance - it's like the flu. It's not kiling anyone!" route. I'm sure there would be more dead here.

He has got to be trolling! Anyone with any common sense knows exactly why this virus can't be controlled. Trump knew it was going to be bad, but instead of telling the truth, he lied every step of the way and pitted us against each other. I thought the Republican party was the party of taking responsibility.

This is probably the most concise thing you've said about your opinion on all this. The delivery of your opinions is typically inflammatory.
It doesn't let trump off the hook for a plan that's basically "There's nothing we can do - so why bother doing anything. Let's all just offer Thoughts and Prayers for the families of the dead and dying and move on with our lives."
I have more respect for someone who at least tries to change the outcome when facing adversity than having an attitude of " we can't do anything, so why bother putting alot of effort into it. Just ignore it and wait it out. ".
Maybe that's the big difference. I'm idealistic .

I thought the Republican party was the party of taking responsibility. I've been saying why this virus wil be difficult to control since it reared it's ugly head. Most recently, right in reply #90. Quite common sense actually. So tell me, why exactly is that trolling ? Our good doctor right here, said the same thing in a previous post. Hun, open your eyes. When this first started, Trump knew it was going to be bad. Just think how better off we'd be if during the early stages, he could have acted like he gave a rats ass about this country, we could have closed down, mask up, and had a lot better handle on where we are now. Did he ever encourage the US to work together? NO! What did he do? Tweeted something stupid every day! Every day. He couldn't stand it that Dr Fauci was getting more attention than him and he did everything in his power to discredit him. Remember we were going to open the churches on Easter? Remember LIBERATE MICHIGAN? He did everything he could to divide the country....Yes, we have the vaccine, but will his base get it? Did he encourage it, hell no, he got it in private....don't want to do anything to help President Biden were his words. You know, when Trump came out in April wanting the vaccine to be named the Trumpcine, I wish President Biden would have called his bluff and said, okay, we'll name it after you! I'll sign an executive order today!!!!! See, if it'll help your base of people who are not vaccinated and keeping this virus going...killing people, it'll be worth it! It doesn't matter who gets the credit. Trump would have crapped his pants like he probably did when he was booed in AL. Yep, this virus is difficult to control and made even more difficult by Trump's lack of leadership. And it will never be under control now. Ever.....not when Trump has succeeded in dividing the country. And you are smart enough to see that. So all the "biden virus" shit is trolling.

Breakthrough infections again accounted for about 40% of all cases reported in Massachusetts last week. Fun with numbers time: 1000 people tested, 500 vaccinated, 500 not vaccinated. 40/500 vaccinated test positive, 60/500 not vaccinated test positive. 1000 people tested, 200 vaccinated, 800 not vaccinated. 40/200 vaccinated test positive, 60/800 not vaccinated test positive. 1000 people tested, 800 vaccinated, 200 not vaccinated. 40/800 vaccinated test positive, 60/200 not vaccinated test positive. One might draw a different conclusion from each. Without knowing the status of who was tested, the 40% is meaningless.

With schools open there is a lot of daily exposure for everyone involved. Also all the ICU units as well. Numbers out of schools are bad.

No other claim was made, aside from you. Yes. And who was tested? If that group is heavily weighted towards either vaccinated or non-vaccinated, it makes the ratio of positive tests meaningless.
