I was little I decided when I am old I want one of these for the house!
Motion sensors probably make more sense though especially when getting out of bed at night and you are likely not thinking about clapping as you stand up.

Motion sensors probably make more sense though especially when getting out of bed at night and you are likely not thinking about clapping as you stand up. I wanted one of those last century also. Now most of the lights in my house are voice activated by Alexa. Those with multiple bulbs/fixtures are connected through switches. Lamps (and entertainment equipment) are connected through plugs. Others have special light bulbs including select ones that I can adjust to about any color on the spectrum. The wife especially loves to make the outdoor ones holiday specific. I have routines set up that turn lights on and off with either voice commands or at certain times of the day. This has made lighted Christmas decorations much less painful to manage. It was all easy to set up. Did it myself other than wiring in the switches because I don't mess with electricity. I did just have Alexa put a couple of the motion sensor bulbs on the shopping list for a fixture on the side of the house we never go.

Another thing to consider is that motion sensor lights, positioned strategically, are very teenager unfriendly.

I have light and motion sensing nightlights in my bathroom and the hall. I love them. I paid about $7 each on Amazon. They don’t come on during the day, and only when they detect motion . They turn off after 90 seconds (I think) of no motion. They are bright enough that you can see without turning on an overhead light, but not so bright they make you squint.

I just bought one of those night lights for the master bath. We prefer a totally dark bedroom, so it is the perfect solution for those middle of the night bathroom visits.

I have a motion sensor night light in my bathroom too. I didn't know you could buy reg full size lightbulbs with sensors in them.
I've been trying to find LED vanity bulbs for my bathroom, stronger than 60 W. Ugh.

General question for whomever: If your motion sensor light in your bathroom goes out because you are just sitting there a while waiting for something to happen, does it flip back on when you finally have a bowel movement?
