The devil is in the details. Here is a major one: Kent State University Commons May 4th US Capital Building January 6th Understand the situation was different. Still won't change Trumps ability to use this. Air Force Veteran, unarmed, it will resonate. I would love to see what her military records said about her. The fact that she was only a senior airman (e-4) after 14 years in the service tells me that she must have done something really bad/stupid in the military or was totally worthless. Especially since a good number of those 14 years were in the guard and reserves (they tend to promote faster and will put up with more stupid behavior than active duty). I’m guessing that she was forced to leave at 14 years because she wasn’t getting promoted and u have to go up in rank or get out. For the most part, people who are good don’t leave at 14 years since they are only 6 years from retirement eligibility. Just because she was “in the service” doesn’t mean she was a good airman. There are bad people in the military, just like there are in civilian life. Just because they may have been in doesn’t mean they are some sort of hero. Full disclosure: I was active duty Air Force for 8 years and have close family serving in the reserves and Guard.

Most will only hear "vet", I know I hadn't checked details. My Navy knowledge/experience support the same conclusions you offer.

The article is from 2017... trump campaigned to appeal to,um, the not quite the mainstream crowds in America (he needed their votes to get elected ). I'm not that surprised to see this especially since it's from 2017.

I retired with 4 active and 22 reserve years. I think I made E-4 in <2 years and E-7 in 6, but I was an overachiever. . That was actually in less then the minimum time and I had to get a waiver to put the rank on. You needed to make E-5 on active duty to get to 20 years and benefits. Otherwise you could finish in the reserves but wait until you are 62 yo to get lesser benefits. Another thought. She could have been reduced in rank due to disciplinary action.

I could see her getting reduced in rank. If the judgement that she showed on Jan 6 and a few years ago with her husband’s ex is the same judgment she had in the military, I can see why she made it only to e-4. What’s sad is that she probably though she was a “true patriot” and liked to talk about her time in the service. I’ll bet she didn’t mention that her “service” wasn’t much to be proud of. I would have been in at the same time she was and my family members Were in the guard/reserves at the same time she was and it took a lot of trouble or being worse than useless to not get promoted 🤨
