This is a horrible story and I'm glad our facility does not have residents this young. This guy must have been there for mental issues and should he ever get out of jail, only a state run facility might take him. I hope this happened on a 11-7 shift and that's why no one got there in time to stop him. www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/new-jersey-man-beat-girlfriend-to-death-with-potted-plant-in-assisted-living-home-report/ar-AAKeVlV?ocid=msedgntpDaymis Jimenez, 32, was charged with murder after authorities found his 47-year-old girlfriend’s body shortly after midnight on May 17.
The woman, identified only as “DF” in court papers, was killed inside the Meadow View Care Center on Spotswood Gravel Hill Road near Corey Drive in Monroe, with the beatdown caught on camera, according to NJ.com.
The footage shows Jimenez walk into a television room shared by facility residents and turn off the lights. He then chokes his girlfriend, slams her head into the floor multiple times, then beats her with a 5-foot-tall potted plant, the video shows.

Seriously giving assisted living facility people guns? I do hope that was some sort of sick joke. My mom lived in several assisted living facilities, and most of the patients had some degree of dementia. It’s not uncommon for dementia patients to become hostile and aggressive, or to mistake their loved ones for enemies (anyone who watched the Sopranos knows that). My mom would get fairly bitchy if she didn’t like what she was given for dinner, I can’t imagine what would have happened if she had a loaded weapon and didn’t get the kind of pudding cup she wanted.

I would like to know why the two parties were residents of an assisted living facility when they are so young.
Just checked- no updates on the internet.

The nursing home my Mom lived in had a resident that had lived there her entire adult life. Her parents had died young, and no other family would take in a wheelchair-bound child. There weren't many group homes in the past. In fact, there aren't enough of them now.

Since the article doesn't say, I thought they were employees at the age described. Very end says the man was a resident at the same facility.
