I did not even think of that. Pregnancy does not always result in live babies.

Story first came out publicly in 2014. He should of been taken care of then. Why reissue now ? Many questions. Her net worth was 150 million in 2012, why not go after him then, or 2014 when she first went public ? Wealthy men are rarely held to the same rules/laws as people who are not wealthy. Why does this surprise you? And, why should he be allowed to go his entire life with this awful "secret"? Just because she didn't have the power to hold him accountable when she wasn't well known, doesn't mean he shouldn't be now.

Statue of limitations come into play? But you can bet your sweet ass she wasn’t the first or the last! Hopefully the asshole is dead.

Two years before she went public with the story in 2014, she was worth 150 million. Today 300 million. She can't afford to file ? He should be charged with this crime. I confess I don't have a clue what you are trying to say. Ok, instead of rape, let's pretend it was a different crime. And, you don't press charges until years later. How difficult would it be to prove someone did the crime so many years later... Or, think of famous people, like Trump, who have been accused, and those women don't even get a day in court. Of course, maybe you never read about those types of stories. Or, maybe you don't know anyone who has been sexually assaulted. Unfortunately, I do have friends who have been, and let's just say the authorities don't exactly bust their a$$ to do anything about it.

I thought back to Kennedy who left someone to drown and folks just said awe shucks I have a friend who was raped and I totally understood her reason for not reporting it. I disagreed but it was her decision.

The story is part of a mental heath series Oprah is doing. As for not naming him, she said she still has PTSD and can't face him. Said she never wants to see him ever again.
While I would like to see him held accountable, I know how the system is. And everyone heals and deals in their own way.
There are monsters everywhere in positions of power.

I read it was from Harry's podcast but it really could be both.

So Oprah has a mental health series coming out on Apple TV. Lady Gaga will be one of the guests. So Harry was probably promoting it. He's in the promo trailer for the series.

Harry is the executive producer. He apparently discusses how his father told him the Royal Expectations screwed up his life, and yet, he wanted Harry to accept that, and let them screw up his life, Meghan’s life, and his children’s lives. I really want to watch it. It is Apple TV, so I guess we have to Subscribe to watch it.

In the 70s, a girlfriend was raped. Her mom was my realtor in a deal that didn't go through and also a pastor. The girl was always jittery and afraid. All I could tell was she opened the door to the wrong guy and to put it behind her like a car accident or a bad case of the flu. She did then went on to marry a wonderful guy.
Being held captive is a whole other problem.

Very hard to prove, evidence mostly or all gone. Prosecutors don't work hard at it because of those reasons. He's a criminal who got away with it. I have no answer for a resolution. It's just horribly wrong. There was a lot of press several years ago in the city near me, because hundreds (thousands? I can’t remember) of rape kits had not been processed. No justice for any of the ladies (or men, if there were any) who were brave enough to report what had happened to them. A travesty, if anyone cared what I thought about it. I think any person that reports a rape has a lot of courage. Our society tends to want to blame the victim for doing this or that or even dressing a certain way when they say they’ve been raped or sexually assaulted. It’s happening right now in the aforementioned city. A Lyft driver who happens to also be a police officer, is accused of raping a young woman while he was driving for Lyft. And more people are commenting on what she should or could have done, than talking about him. The people that frame their comments as “I don’t know what really happened, but…” can just STFU instead of trying to blame the victim after already acknowledging that they don’t know what really happened. If you say you’re waiting for more facts, do that, instead of talking about what the “alleged” victim could or should have done. Reporting a rape or sexual assault is unfortunately often like setting yourself up to be scrutinized instead of the perpetrator. So, as much as I want justice for any victim of that sort of crime, I understand why many of them don’t want to go through what it takes to try to get some kind of justice. I imagine that sometimes, by the time a victim has the courage or whatever needs to happen for them, to talk about it period, let alone to someone in authority, enough time has passed that it’s even more difficult to prove. Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen though. Having a lot of money doesn’t keep a person from being a human first. Some things are traumatic enough that even a multimillionaire can be haunted by it despite having what we consider to be the monetary means to fight about it. One of the things my life has taught me is that I can say all day what *I* would do in a situation, and mean it, but still do something totally different when I’m actually in that situation. This isn’t really a direct response to the person I quoted, that just happened to be the post that led to my train of thought that I wrote.

Ah yes I forgot the little known fact that once you're worth millions you can magically get irrefutable evidence that you were in fact raped that will overcome the well known fact of how hard it is to prosecute rape.

So he shouldn't be charged with his crime ? Is that your solution ? I'm merely pointing out the fact that just because she has money doesn't magically change the evidence. Only 5% of rapes lead to an arrest ie charged with a crime. Her having money doesn't change that stat. Her having money doesn't suddenly give her evidence that will increase the likelihood of the justice system doing a damn thing for her. Instead of blaming the victims - why do you go ask the police and prosecutors why they suck ass when it comes to prosecuting rape? Maybe more women would be up to reporting if there were better odds of the guy actually being charged with the crime instead of her being the only one bearing negative consequences for reporting a rape.

Where did I blame the victim ? "She can't afford to file" As if it's her fault for not filing claims. Laying blame on the victim for not do what you want her to do.

"She can't afford to file ?" As if it's her fault for not filing claims. Laying blame on the victim for not do what you want her to do. The "it's as if" is only in your mind. Her being able to afford going to court does not somehow mean it's what I want her to do. Post hoc ergo propter hoc. I believe if a person commits a crime, they should be tried in court. Then go crusade against the police for not processing rape kits. Ask them to teach their officers how to correctly deal with rape victims. Go ask your prosecutor why they're not prosecuting more rapes. Don't ask victims to or blame victims for not wanting to take on the shitty stats of only 2% of rapists seeing any jail time. The list of things I would take on when I only have a 2% chance of winning are very very slim. The only way you'd take on those odds happily is if you're lying. Otherwise I look forward to you proving that you've invested all your money in dogecoin.

Back in 2013 my city had over 12,000 untested rape kits. Took lots of money to get them out of the backlog.

In 2015 King County Washington had 9760. They hope to catch up by Dec. 2021.
