www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/venomous-snake-found-alive-inside-aldi-lettuce-bag/ar-BB1fEv4o?ocid=msedgntpSupermarket chain Aldi has launched an investigation after an Australian couple were shocked to find a live poisonous snake in a bag of lettuce. The discovery of the reptile drew a lot of attention on Facebook, with some users calling it an "awful" and "nasty" find. Others were able to see the funny side, with one user saying: "Like I needed another reason to loathe salad." Responding to these comments on Facebook, Kuhn confirmed that the snake was "very much alive" when they found it and that her son initially had not realized how dangerous it was.Anyone ever find anything exciting or surprising in their bagged salad?

YIKES! Not me!
I'm always afraid of the giant spiders that are often in the boxes of bananas though. Heck, I'd be afraid of a tiny spider!

I've never bought fresh produce from Aldi. I was in their store one time, and saw either a live bee or a hornet inside a bag of their salad. I only buy boxed & canned goods from them.

The snake was likely surprised, as well.

Not in a bag of salad but in my salad served in a restaurant: some salad worker's used/old Band-Aid which fell off his/her finger. Discovered it in my mouth while chewing.
The restaurant comped my salad but nothing else. Restaurant shortly after went out of business.

Maybe the snake was dormant (the bagged salads are generally refrigerated) and perhaps it might be a tasty snack to cook up - but it was a kind of snake you can't eat

We found some kind of worm in lettuce. I can't remember the name of the worm right now. Maybe maggots. Ugh.

I tend to wash my bagged salads - and the only thing I've ever found was some non-lettuce leaves (so something like a weed). I use to get a "farm box" and always had to wash all the veggies/greens and there were often "non-typical" "leaves and/or stems" in any given bunch of lettuce, spinach, kale, - especially the bag o' baby greens. I like salads. I like Aldi. I'll keep checking my groceries no matter where they are from or how they are packaged. The absolutely worse thing I've ever seen in a Big Box grocery store (ok, it was a Walmart) was a couple of kids going thru the bags of commercial sliced bread - they were opening bags sticking their hands in -and taking a slice or two and then closing the bags. I'm not bashing walmart - it's any Big Box store - where you have a store foot print that's HUGE and don't have any "employees" around and a hundred or more people wandering the aisles without having to bump into each other. I am NOT a fan of Big Box stores. I'm sure the kids were caught on camera. I'm pretty sure no one came and stopped the kids and I'm pretty sure no one bothered to close the bread aisle (or attempt to remove the food they had tampered with. OK, one more - I bought a big container of "Curry Powder" at Sam's club. I foolishly forgot to check it before I put it in my cart. when I went to use it - and open it - I found that someone had pushed their finger thru the "safety seal" - BEFORE I bought it. Part of the "shopping routine" is to CHECK everything for "dates" and "seals" and "damage" before it goes in my cart. I think this is why I hate grocery shopping so much. And if I am not at Aldi (or TJs) I watch the checker/check out screen like a hawk - to catch mistakes and then I usually "pull over to the side" by the service desk and review my cart and receipt before leaving the store. I swear, probably 2% of my total yearly grocery bill would be "mistakes" if I didn't do this...

I've only been in an Aldi once when I was visiting in Ill. We don't have any around here & I wouldn't go there if we did. We have another small chain that is much like them & I rarely shop there...however, their produce is fresh and good quality, it's mostly their frozen meats I don't like at all or some of the brands they handle.

Nothing in a salad.
Once went out into the side yard at work and my coworker picked up a large metal lid that had been laying in the yard overnight, and a pack of rats the size of beagles swarmed out from under it. (Our plant side yard is adjacent to a Popeye’s chicken parking lot, where they kept their dumpster and grease collection bin - we’d seen these giant rats on their property on third shift before, but not on ours - not, I guess, until we provided the adorable rat shelter for them).
I backed up and started screaming like a girl while these frenzied rats started scrambling over themselves trying to find someplace to hide. The co-worker stomped a couple; the other disappeared towards the dumpster.
Later I apologized to my boss, who was out there with me, for shrieking in a very unprofessional way, but he said not to worry about it, he took off when he saw the rats and didn’t stop running until he got to his car in the parking lot. - he never heard me shrieking.
So he wasn’t exactly professional either, I guess.
At least the rats weren’t in my salad.

As a child my mother used to make my sister make the dinner salad each night. Being the only female child along with three brothers she ended up with many of the dinner chores. My sister hated making the salad.
As a grownup with kids, my sister refused to make salads for the family dinner.

We boys took care of taking out the trash and the outdoor stuff. My parents taught all of us how to do just about anything without being gender specific, which was pretty awesome. My brothers sew better than I do. We all used to fight over whose turn it was to cut the grass because we all enjoyed that chore. I balked when my two older brothers moved away and cleaning the basement fell to me. I am an arachnophobe. It was the only time I openly defied my mom. She passed the chore to my younger brother.

We boys took care of taking out the trash and the outdoor stuff. I've been doing the dishes since I was 8. I refuse to take out the trash, that was my brother's jobs when we were kids. Hubby thought it was annoying & crazy until I asked what days he would like to do the dishes after dinner each week. I still don't have to take out the trash. Not really a "male/female" job split, but I also haven't put gas in a car in almost 29 years. Yes I'm aware that makes me spoiled.

Back in the 1950s my mom sent the laundry out to a Mrs. Eastman. Her husband would pickup and drop back off. I'm surprised I remembered her name it was so long ago.
