CNN must have gotten a whiff of an upcoming legislative event on the horizon, regarding gun control.

A homeowner and mother in Port Huron, Mich., defended her property, self and child when a burglar tried to force his way into the residence in the early morning hours of Feb. 28, 2021.
The incident occurred before 5 a.m. that Sunday morning when the woman was alerted by the sound of someone trying to force their way into her home. Fearing for the safety of herself and her small child, the woman armed herself with a gun and shot the intruder in the neck. The intruder then fled the property, walking down the street calling for help.www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2021/3/22/the-armed-citizen-march-22-2021

You have to deflect somehow. It is how you get to ignore the body count

sadly, that CNN comment has already been making the rounds. I guess we don't get to bring up Las Vegas, Charlottesville, El Paso, Thousand Oaks, or any of the myriad other instances of a white guy having a bad day, under the previous administration. you know, that "leader" actually called the mob in Charlottesville "fine people" 🤔🙄😡

It’s just the price of freedom. Other countries don’t get to enjoy it I guess

As someone here once said, and I'm paraphrasing it, 'That's the chance you take (of being shot and killed) going into crowded places.'
Don't go food shopping, folks.

This week, six year old shot to death over alleged clogged toilet while Mom at a funeral. Lazy XBF kills several people over getting part of a stimulus check that isn't his. I'm not feeling the freedom.

Nine customers and one officer killed. This probably says more about the country than me, but my second thought after hearing an officer died was damn are the "you can't take my guns" who are also "blue lives matter" having a crisis or quickly explaining it away.

So a mass shooting in a public place is equivalent to self defense? Not at all, a counterpoint to the one sided media and other 'reporting'. An armed citizen thwarted a robbery at a Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Atlanta, Ga., on the afternoon of March 9, 2021.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m. that Tuesday when a man entered the restaurant with a gun drawn, demanding cash from the workers. Several bystanders who witnessed the robbery attempted to stop him. One of the bystanders was an armed citizen, who engaged the armed robber.
The armed citizen drew a handgun and fired two shots at the armed robber and held him at gunpoint until Atlanta police arrived at the scene. The 23-year-old suspect was taken into custody and charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. No charges are expected against the armed citizen. (wsbtv.com, Atlanta, Ga., 03/09/2021) www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2021/3/19/the-armed-citizen-march-19-2021

Self defense against criminals, what a concept. Robbery, rape, home invasions, car jackings, you name it. Sure cuts back on the that behavior through enabling. A 69-year-old man in Beverly, Ill., defended himself with his licensed concealed-carry handgun when a group of teenagers attempted to rob him on March 9, 2021.
The incident happened around 10:35 p.m. that evening when a group of three teenagers in a stolen car stopped, exited the vehicle and approached the man. The youths threatened the man and demanded him to hand over his belongings. Instead of complying with their demands, the man instead drew his concealed-carry gun and fired at the would-be robbers.
One of the young robbers was struck in the knee, with all three running back to their stolen car and fleeing. The youths only made it a short distance before they crashed the stolen car down the road. All three attempted to flee the crash but were caught by Chicago police a short time later.(chicagotribune.com, Chicago, Ill., 03/10/2021)www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2021/3/15/the-armed-citizen-march-15-2021

Another snowflake white boy feeling his superiority ? AX 'ATTACK' Woman shoots & kills boyfriend after she found him ‘with a tomahawk raised above her while she was lying in bed’ Mark Hodge 26 Dec 2020, 16:42Updated: 26 Dec 2020, 16:47 A WOMAN who shot her boyfriend dead on Christmas Eve has claimed he attacked her with a tomahawk as she lay in bed, police said.
Jill Fritch, 59, gunned down Troy Sorrell, 60, at the home they shared in Volusia County, Florida, and is claiming self-defense, officers said.
Fritch claims she acted in self-defense when she blasted her boyfriend to death, police said

The lethal shooting is still being probed by cops and Fritch is not yet facing charges, police spokesman Andrew Gant told WPTV.
According to Gant, the 59-year-old had an injunction for protection against Sorrell from 2015 until January 2020.
On Thursday, just before midnight, officers were called to the pair's home after it was reported that Sorrell threatened Fritch with a tomahawk - a single-handed ax.
The woman told cops she grabbed a gun and shot her boyfriend because she feared he was going to hit her with the weapon, cops said.
Police found the gun, a shell casing and the ax, which had a two-foot handle. www.thesun.co.uk/news/13578399/tomahawk-attack-woman-shoots-boyfriend/

Article dated March 18, 2021, six days ago. Can Colorado cities enact their own gun restrictions? A Boulder judge says no.New ruling could lead Colorado Supreme Court to settle the question A judge blocked Boulder from enforcing its 2-year-old ban on assault weapons and large-capacity magazines in the city, setting up the chance for the state Supreme Court to review whether Colorado cities can create their own restrictions on gun ownership. Boulder County District Court Judge Andrew Hartman ruled Friday that the city can’t enforce its ordinance banning the possession, transfer or sale of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines because state law says local governments can’t prohibit the possession or sale of firearms. “These provisions are invalid, and enforcement of them is enjoined,” Hartman wrote in his ruling. “The Court has determined that only Colorado state (or federal) law can prohibit the possession, sale and transfer of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.” Boulder city attorneys will meet with outside counsel this week to decide how to move forward and whether they will appeal Hartman’s decision, city spokeswoman Shannon Aulabaugh said. The Boulder Police Department will not enforce the ordinance unless there is a later court ruling undoing Hartman’s decision, she said. Complete article here: link

See reply #2 yes, it is. you're all about having the victims take responsibility for being victims. zero mention of responsibility for the attackers. why is that? ETA - see reply #5. I heard you the first time.

I'm sure all conservatives will agree that Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa was just having a bad day, so going into a grocery store and shooting 10 people is acceptable.

I can carry a gun and display it visibly ALL the time! I don't want a guy to think I'm "Asking for it" - I can wear my sexiest outfit in public - and that gun will inform him that I'm not asking for it. And if he leers at me - I will be sure to take some shots at him!! Oh, wait, maybe i just need to hire some body guards with guns to follow me around - to keep me safe in case I want to have a few drinks at the bar and then walk to my car out in the dark parking lot. Maybe I need a security system at home too... I don't really want to sleep with a gun... Maybe I should move to a gated community. Or maybe I need a private compound. You might want to be REALLY careful when you are out in public... keep your distance, keep your eyes poker cold, don't make any fast movements, choose your words carefully when speaking (you don't want someone to take offense) ... someone MIGHT make a mistake and think you are being threatening and shoot you. Yeah, I totally want to live in a world like that. NOT!

Yeah, I totally want to live in a world like that. NOT!
It's already the world we live in. Even before Covid, I used to do my shopping only every 2 weeks and usually between 8-10pm to avoid the crowds. Its not just that I hate crowds, but that seems to be a major target for mass shooters, they need large groups of people in order to pull off a high number of kills.
I'm not sure I ever want to go to a festival again. I have tickets for BeerFest in my city in October, but I may just sell them. There is usually between 5-10k people there and that seems like a prime location for a crazy person to pull off a mass shooting. I know people say we shouldn't be afraid to live our lives, but that's getting more and more difficult to do every week.

Yes, I fell into Diogenes trap and tried to meet absurdity with absurdity. So, I do apologize for the post if it's not being read dripping with sarcasm. All though I do like the idea of "men as beasts who should be kept in cages because they can't control themselves" thing. That diogenes seems to be going for.

Seriously, I'm guessing if I lived in a house where the neighbors where a quarter mile of more away - I'd probably be setting my house up like a compound... anyone could come on my property and invade my home - and no one would be the wiser for it - until they found the bodies. And if I had some sketchy friends or relatives (or my friends/relatives had sketchy friends) I'd be even more paranoid and afraid.
I live in a densely populated area. My best security isn't owning a gun, it's locking my front and back doors before I go to bed. It's having some security lights. It's tidying up the yard by putting away bikes and lawnmower and other "valuable" to me stuff when I'm done using them. It's about pressing the "lock" button on my car's key fob. Even with the few sketchy people I may be exposed to. doing those things provide enough security.
I'm wondering why Diogenes isn't talking about the basic security things that can be done to keep someone from having to pull out a gun to protect themselves?
Maybe it's cause he's a guy - and hasn't been taught since childhood how to keep from getting attacked by men??
