I don't know anything about Vilisack or agriculture, but I do know that every government action is subject to the law of unintended consequences. His policies may make food plentiful. Good for America. But, is it good for farmers and the environment? Bernie's desired policies may be good for the environment, but is it good for farmers or raise the price of crops? There is such a delicate balance, I am positive that whatever decisions are being made are neither all good or all bad.

I also imagine there is going to be some tit for tat. I know people wanted Biden to come in and make massive sweeping changes but IMHO the goal should be getting all of Trump's toadies out. If that means Biden picks a candidate Bernie Sanders doesn't like because he isn't green enough for the agriculture department but the Republicans are willing to approve the guy I am fine with it. Imagine if Trump had been in four more years what we would have gotten. I think anyone who isn't one of his cronies is a step in the right direction. We're not going to dig out of this mess overnight and the more we can get Republicans to come along for the ride the better.

Biden's not a progressive, he's a moderate institutionalist. If you expect Biden to take on big corporations, you'll be sadly disappointed.
Therefore, appointees like Vilsack are completely expected.

In Europe he would be a conservative Yep, and the Dems would be a center-right party. That's why the GOP's claims of "the radical left" are particularly amusing.
