The democratic led assembly has also indicated their investigation is just about done abs they intend to prepare articles of impeachment how long has he been governor? his career is toast at this point. he might just want to be impeached.

He’s on his third term. Election is 2022 yeah.
my money is on him not giving a f(*k and playing this out. he will probably still be eligible to collect pension. in other words, he is set. he will drag this misery out for NY as long as he can.

Cuomo's female apologist is commanding the air waves of all major stations right now. At least a half an hour of talking points. Yes Cuomo pats troopers on their back or side unless they are female. We have pics of him being inappropriate. I can only imagine what he will spin if this given the apologist recreating a different past. He will need to be impeached to get him to leave prior to his term.

Did not see this coming. Banner says Cuomo resigning in fourteen days. Good choice to preserve his record against Covid.

I guess when you realize a large group of people are coming to get you instead of defending or supporting you the decision matrix changes a bit. Isn't that basically what happened to Nixon - he was not going to resign until a bunch of his allies told him they couldn't stand behind him any longer, for the sake of their own careers?

Pretty much the entire dem dominated legislature, joe Biden, the 2 dem senators (Schumer and Gillibrand) and the state dem chair all told him to step down.
His Mean Girl enforcer DeRosa resigned
There was no lone left to back him.

I suspect that in addition there are/were a lot more in the GOP that had questionable ethics where they were caught by their short and curlies. If they didn’t back him, he’d blow the whistle on them.

There's been complaints about a conflict of interest with her DH, he's connected to DelawareNorth and the casinos.
Hochul's from the SouthTowns here, so there's a good bit of local pride. She will be the first woman governor, first governor from north of Catskill in a hundred years, first governor from Buffalo since Grover Cleveland almost 150 years ago. So she's not likely to hold the seat in 2022 against someone from downstate. Downstate really swamps the rest of the state in numbers.

I was thinking more on the political tip. how does she jibe with you, swamp? A friend from Buffalo said that Hochul fixed the DMV when she was Erie County Clerk. She must be magic.

The problem is people on gatez side of the political spectrum won't put pressure on him to resign.

It is a real dilemma- if D's "do the right thing" and R's do not, the D's are cycling through talent and experience, and the R's are just rolling along.

I don’t even think he was being a misogynist - he was being stupid, clowning around. That worked on SNL but not in politics. Even the woman he was being stupid with didn’t think he needed to resign.

Here is where I am at. Yes Cuomo f'd up by not reporting properly, but at the time covid hit (and even now), can each death truly be ruled covid? Cuomo and team were fighting a losing battle with very little guidance. The fed gov't/trump claims that all those death numbers were overstated. "Those old people died cuz they were old, already sick, not covid". Criminal charges seem crazy. Cuomo didn't kill those people. He was following guidance he was being given by the Fed Govt/CDC, etc. Also, I believe that nursing homes deserve some blame as how many news story's have reported elder abuse, etc. Were they accurately reporting covid? How could anyone know? At the time, it was a crisis just to keep people alive. Frankly the whole thing was/is just a mess. Again, the federal government had the Jafitts center open and the USS comfort open and they were kept empty. Those would’ve been the perfect place to stash nursing home patients who were well enough to leave the hospital but still contagious. Even in my little town, when the lockdown happened, all the closed County rec centers were turned into Covid hotels for anybody who was recovering who happened to live in a group setting. But for Cuomo, using facilities that the feds set up would mean he would actually have to admit that Trump did something useful, and since he’s just as petty as Trump is, he wasn’t going to do that. Anybody who knows anything about nursing homes can tell you that your typical nursing home employee is doing three people’s jobs. It was always an absurd fantasy to think that a nursing home employee who is caring for Covid patients would not end up spreading the disease around to the other patients. And let’s face it, the only reason Cuomo is facing any consequences whatsoever for any of his actions is because he’s no longer of use. If Trump had won the last election, you guys would all still be saying how wonderful he is and how he bears no responsibility whatsoever for the nursing home deaths.

If Trump had won the last election, you guys would all still be saying how wonderful he is and how he bears no responsibility whatsoever for the nursing home deaths. And again I am fucking telling you they were not empty. My husband worked 12 hour shifts at the Javits center in April and then after it closed he went to another field hospital in Queens at the US open tennis center. He was gone a month. The ship did remain largely unused as they only took overflow patients from NYC hospitals. It was not set up for care for infectious diseases. It’s too small. You really don’t listen to any facts that are outside your imaginary little world.
