I think it was abuse of power.  she was in love with him. she freely admits it. he was NOT in love with her. he took advantage of her feelings and his position. it was wrong. but in the end, that is not what got him impeached.

I'm right around Lewinsky s age, and I felt this way then as I do now that she was a groupie, much like a groupie for a rock band. The difference being, Clinton had a position of power over her, so he was absolutely in the wrong for taking advantage of that/participating in any way.

That any elected Demo still perpetrated this kind of behavior is reprehensible to say the least. They all know better but it’s some kind of power imbalance mental illness. One would think that Cuomo would easily attract women of his own age for more normal interaction. Who doesn’t think Bill Cosby could have been laid by a willing woman partner of a certain age every day? Instead he drugs the unsuspecting. Criminally mentally ill.

I have heard for years and years and years that it is about power, not sex. But I have never seen why we believe that. Did we do a survey of rapist and asked if their motivation was orgasm or power? Is there a panel of experts that have a well thought out, written opinion on this? Are there any experts who disagree? Do we like that explanation because victims feel so powerless that this thought is comforting? Do we just blame any transgression by men as a power play?

Just curious - it isn’t an area I have studied or have any real knowledge about. I'm currently in the habit of questioning my beliefs to make sure I don't accept something as truth because I have heard it repeatedly, but maybe not from a knowledgeable source.

In the 90's, very few people thought a forceful sexual experience on a date was considered assault. I wonder if they were excluded from the thought process.

It wasn't until 1993 when finally all the states recognized a woman's right to refuse sex with her husband.

It seems like how we discuss sexual assault has changed pretty drastically in my adult lifetime.

DH and I watched the coverage on MSNBC last night.  Cuomo told the state Trooper assigned to his detail that she should wear a dress (to work).  They said she carries a gun on duty.  WTF?  Have you ever seen a dress that was a police uniform?  I don't recall ever seeing a female police officer wearing a dress.

I do think the Republican and Democratic Voters are different.  There are more Female and more Educated/Independent Female Voters in the Democratic Base.  I do not think Cuomo will be re-elected.  I think they want him to resign and get the next in line move in as Governor so that she will be an incumbent with experience in 1 1/2 years when they hold the next election.

Her testimony for James was the most damaging against Cuomo.  Among other things, to be on his watch you needed to have 3 years experience, she had 2 and Cuomo was told this.  Strings were pulled to get those requirements waived for her.  

FWIW, yes…….it is possible to carry a gun in a dress (and there are purses and holsters out there that allow you to do so).  The issue isn’t wearing a dress, but being able to move quickly in a dress to protect the governor.
