That poor dog should be taken away and rehomed! Was anyone checking in on it to make sure it had food and water? Who the fuck just leaves their pet unattended while to travel out of the country I always put my dogs in a pet hotel, but I hope at least a neighbor or someone was coming by to check on this poor dog! Sorry, I feel bad for the people in Texas too, but they at least voted for the shitshow. Dogs can't vote. Also, I like dogs way way better than humans. Gonna go hug my dogs now! I'm sure they have household staff staying with the dog.

I still have friends who live in TX. Not sure how badly they’ve been hit by the outages, but they’re in Austin and San Antonio. My BFF in Katy (Houston suburb) lost power for about 20 hours, but her husband is from Chicago and had them over prepared for it. They did still have a pipe burst yesterday, but no water damage to their house. They stood in line to get into a Lowe's yesterday for 4 hours, once inside, everything they needed was sold out. Their plan for today was to stand in line at a Home Depot.
My snotty cousin inside the loop in Houston never lost power because Downtown Houston never lost power for the most part. She fed her friends, but didn't let anyone stay in her house. Did lots of whining on facebook until her brother told her to stuff it up her ass.
Her sister my crazy cousin (she got ALL the crazy genetics) lost power for 48 hours & had pipes burst in the apartment above hers. She spent the first 24 hours posting selfies & whining. Then realized that her kids were in a worst situation than she was & spent the next 24 hours whining about how they should be with her while posting more selfies. For the record, they are almost never with her, she dumps them on my sweet Aunt J.
And Sweet Aunt J was without power for almost 70 hours. Luckily she had a fireplace & firewood. It did get down to 14 degrees INSIDE her house that first night when the fire went out because they were asleep. She had both of her grandkids with her & they all slept in the same bed to stay warm. Her pipes survived but her well cracked (don't know what that means exactly, but it's the only issue she said came after power came back on). Her son, my cousin who gives a shit, took 2 hours to ride a 4 wheeler to her house to make sure she & the kids were okay. He brought food & firewood & has basically told her that this was the last time she'd go thru it because he's moving her to his house or a trailer on his property, her choice.
My brother in law in Austin went to Florida last week so he has no clue what his apartment is like. He's laying on a beach going "not my problem right now".
Brother in law & family in Louisiana got snow, but no big issues or power losses.
Extended family (great aunts/uncles/2ndcousins) in Huntsville, Lufkin & Nacogdoches all checked in with some power outages, but all had fireplaces & no burst pipes when power came back on. Most of them dealt with rolling power outages unlike Houston & Dallas who just went dark for days.
Extended family in Caldwell, Bryan/College Station/Christman all fine. All had generators. There was some cattle loss & chicken losses.
My brother's in laws in Pasadena (outside of Houston) ended up in a shelter & are still there. no power & lots of water damage from broken pipes. His father in law, mother in law, sis in law, her husband, 2 kids & 3 cats are still in a shelter tonight.
Anybody know where Auntie Pea Brain is? Maybe frozen to her seat on the batshit crazy bus?

Ted Cruz owns a poodle....why on earth does that just make sense somehow? I bet the dog is better groomed than he is.

Ted Cruz is a disgusting excuse of a human being. I really really hope Texans open their eyes and vote him out first chance.

Ted Cruz is a disgusting excuse of a human being.I really really hope Texans open their eyes and vote him out first chance. Here's another..... A Texas mayor resigned after seemingly telling residents to fend for themselves in a Facebook post amid a deadly and record-breaking winter storm that left much of the state without power Tuesday. As then-mayor of Colorado City, Tim Boyd wrote an insensitive message for people desperate for heat, water and power, saying "only the strong will survive and the weak will [perish.]" "No one owes you [or] your family anything; nor is it the local government's responsibility to support you during trying times like this!" he said. "Sink or swim it's your choice! The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING! I'm sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout." www.cbsnews.com/news/tim-boyd-texas-mayor-colorado-city-resigns-power-outages/

Because people should absolutely be just fine without water, heat, and lights, yet try to provide minimal hot food and decent shelter with icicles in their houses and melted snow to drink. I'd call him a Neanderthal, but that insults our ancestors. Crude, callous, and cold as ice...he deserves to be set adrift on the nearest iceberg with nothing. Let HIM fend for himself and see how he likes it.

I heard someone on the radio today using the term Texas Exceptionalism mockingly. we Californians don't care for Texas much. They are constantly advertising on the radio trying to get businesses to relocate there.
bet they (CA Businesses) will think twice about that, now.

I would have understood if Cruz put his family on a plane to a neighboring state with heat and electricity. I am pretty sure other Texans loaded up the car and fled the state for the same reason.
But the Cruz family didn't. They flew to Mexico for fun in the sun and spent their U.S. dollars there. Why couldn't they have flown to Miami (for instance) and spent their dollars there. Sunny and warm with electricity in Miami during this time period and in the USA.
Reeks of priviledge.

I'm think Cruz planned to stay longer than just until Saturday. GOP congressman from Texas slams Ted Cruz as it emerges he took his college roommate on Cancun tripRep. Michael McCaul slammed Sen. Ted Cruz for going to Cancun, Mexico, during winter storms in Texas. "When a crisis hits my state, I'm there. I'm not going to go on some vacation," McCaul told CNN. Axios reported on Sunday that Cruz had invited his college roommate on the trip. Republican Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas criticized Sen. Ted Cruz for flying to Cancun, Mexico, last week as winter storms crippled Texas' energy infrastructure and knocked out power for millions of Texans. McCaul, the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday that Cruz's decision to leave and hastily return as he faced backlash was wrong. "Look, when a crisis hits my state, I'm there. I'm not going to go on some vacation," McCaul said. "I know Mr. Cruz called it a mistake and he's owned up to that, but I think that was a big mistake and as for me, I was on the ground trying to help my people out and my constituents, and that's what we should be doing in a time of crisis," McCaul added. Axios reported on Sunday that Cruz had invited his roommate at Princeton and Harvard Law School, David Panton, on the trip. Article here: link

For only $100, you could be the owner of a Ted Cruz pinata. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/texas-party-store-sells-ted-cruz-pi%C3%B1atas-after-cancun-fiasco/ar-BB1dWGCz?ocid=msedgntpThe piñata depicts Cruz wearing the gray polo shirt, jeans, gray sneakers and Texas flag mask he was photographed wearing on his return trip from Cancun last week. He's holding an American passport in one hand and pulling a rolling suitcase with the other. It stands about three and a half feet tall and sells for $100. Those interested in purchasing the piñata need to place a preorder and be prepared to wait up to two weeks for it to be finished.

And here is another one....
Ted Cruz continues to be a trailblazer as he becomes the first Hispanic person to flee FROM Texas TO Mexico because of ICE.

To put his recent actions in historical context, Ted Cruz has scheduled a press conference to be held at the Alamo.

I forget the comic, but one made the case the texts were leaked because Cruz threw his kids friend's under the bus as his excuse for why they went to Mexico. Without the leaked texts, most of us would not have guessed it was a spontaneous quick decision to go to Mexico and stay at a Ritz Carlton. Cruz initially blamed his daughters, saying they asked to go away with friends since there was no power and school was out and he just “wanted to be a good dad.” www.huffpost.com/entry/ted-cruz-cancun-friend_n_60334af4c5b66dfc101fb9e9So while most Americans would not know, those who know who Cruz is friendly with might blame these kids or these families and at least one member did not like the idea of being thrown under the bus on the national stage when they knew Ted's wife had solicited them to join a spontaneous trip.
