I am traveling too much this summer so I want to get vaccinated before I go to Toronto. I am going there twice and I'm flying the 2nd time.

I'm holding out for much longer. You're holding out for a 4th booster? If thats correct, mind sharing why? I've sent the info to my mom who is immune-compromised and she has severe asthma, but she hasn't said if she's getting it or not. I don't want to pry, but I really, really hope she is. I can't imagine why she wouldn't but maybe I'm missing something.

If you vaccinate someone that still has circulating antibody, that antibody can bind up and eliminate any vaccine you receive and not allow the vaccine to enhance any sort of cellular immunity. I received my booster in Jan, I’ll likely plan to be boosted early Dec before our world cruise. If I was immune compromised, I would not do this though.

I'll buck the trend here. I'm scheduled to get my fourth dose, Pfizer this time, tomorrow. I'm only 53 and have no known comorbidities, but I'm scheduling it now. I'll freely admit that this is less a decision about my own health than my sanity.
You're free to make different choices.

I've got my second booster scheduled at CVS today. I'm heading to Texas at the end of the month and want to make sure my immunity is boosted before that trip.

Interesting. Germany doesn't keep Electronic records? When I got my booster at Walmart the other two shots were in my records. The card is for me to have my own record. It's not the only record of my vaccinations. I imagine eventually someone would have noticed before I got to 90 of them. Germany might want to review it's process. That was a lot of doses wasted on this dude's scam.

They had some phone code they used to get into places - around Xmas you needed to provide proof of vaccination or that you had recovered from Covid within the last 3 months in all but the essential stores. I was the odd one out with my CDC vax card which was checked and compared to my ID for the few places we went to. I really wonder what he did and if he actually got 90 shots, that is really weird...

We were asked for our vaccination card yesterday by the Vancouver restaurant we went to for dim sum. Showing it, or a negative Covid test is th3 only way we can get into either Seattle opera or ballet.

I have noticed that my self Covid tests are negative (within the instructed time of 30 mins) but if you don't throw them away for a day or two they go positive with a pale line. How weird..... I can't have had Covid for the past 6 months. Must be some sort of contamination... but what? I have heard it happens to some people and not others...... even in the same family....... makes me feel kind of special

The results don't mean anything after awhile. Home pregnancy tests will turn positive if you let them sit around for days too. Fun joke to play on friends.

Any test I ran in the lab would ultimately turn positive if left out long enough. Not a contamination.

I went grocery shopping earlier today and finally paid attention to others. By now, almost 6 weeks after the indoor mask mandate was removed, still about 2/3 of the shoppers wore masks. In other words I live in a very liberal area with a decidedly conservative approach to Covid. The reason I mention this is that, unless everything goes to **** in a hand basket my sister will come visit mid June and we plan to take a leisurely road trip - leaving this relatively safe area. I discussed this with my doctor yesterday and we agreed that the end of May wil be the best time for me to get my second booster as that will provide optimal protection. No plan is perfect of course but that, and sticking with wearing my masks indoors, is what I will do...unless everything changes again.

Well, here we go again. Those folks who test the water here for traces of Covid have announced that we're up 80 percent from just a few weeks ago. I guess the next variant is taking hold. Just when I was thinking we might be able to stop wearing masks in public, too.

Got my second booster shot Wednesday. The pharmacist who administered the shot mentioned we will probably get booster shots for years to come. Much like annual flu shots.

Mom called to see if we'd visit for Easter; one of my brothers and his wife have Covid (both teachers). Thankfully, they haven't been around mom and dad recently.
DB and SIL apparently got it from a friend. Friend had an asymptomatic case, who tested positive before having surgery. SIL got symptoms first, DB a week later. Kids are fine, including DD in college (they'd all attended something with her).
Officially, cases are low but growing, locally. But official cases are only positive PCR tests; most people do self tests, and only if they have a reason to test. I've heard we might only be catching 1 in 8 of cases now, especially with asymptomatic cases.

I just got an explanation on why China is having such a huge problem with COVID now that they're pretty much requiring people to stay home (they can do this with their constant monitoring and restrictions) and people are starving because they can't get food. The vaccine they deployed was home grown, SinoVax and apparently its far less effective than the Western versions. So, the population is essentially unprotected. Wonder which vaccines the high Communist party officials and their families got.

NIL's family in Ukraine refused to get the first vaccine they were offered because it came from Russia. When other vaccines were available, they did get vaccinated.

Now DD3 and her DH have been exposed to Covid, last Saturday. They will test today. One of his brothers and GF have it. Local news said big metro county's numbers are up enough to change their CDC community level to medium, > 200/100k population in last 7 days. New numbers hadn't hit the state Covid dashboard, yet. I knew Syracuse has had high numbers for the past few weeks. Looks like it's filtering over to Rochester and Buffalo, too.

DGS1 (8yo) was infected last week. Probably picked it up in school as 3 of his class came down with Covid. It is ossible histeacher was the first to catch it as she was ill a day before DGS1 and his friends were - they still test twice a week in class in his school in Munich. Fortunately he only has mild symptoms. And whether it is true or not I told him that he was only a little sick because he was vaxxed. The kid is afraid enough of needles as is so he needs a little reassurance that the vaccines actually work. This makes it 100% of my grandbabies that caught Covid as I only have the two. None of the adults have been sick with it yet...knock on wood

My son's family got it (with the possible exception of the 2- year old; no symptoms and after they were out of quarantine they had him tested and he was negative). They think DS got it first. The 5-year old told me, "Daddy's vaccination didn't work". I told her that it didn't keep him from getting COVID but it gave his body weapons to fight it off. All of them, thank heaven, had mild cases.

My therapist reminded me yesterday that my case of Covid was fairly mild compared to the horror stories of 2020 and 2021 due to the 3 vaccines I have received. A couple of days ago I talked to a friend from HS, a doctor who got COVID in the pre-vaccine days. She's always been active and health-conscious but ended up with long COVID- from treating patients, of course. A year later her sense of taste hadn't come back completely, she'd had to have therapy to get rid of brain fog and her heartbeat would jump to 170 with a brisk walk. She just had her jawbone reconstructed- bone was dissolving even though she had no bone issues elsewhere and donor grafts failed. She was in terrible pain from the surgery. It makes my blood boil when the anti-vaxxers who kept bleating that it was no worse than the flu end up with a light case or recover fully (we know who they are) and my friend, who specializes in treating victims of torture, gets hit hard.

I know a family that has Covid now. Two adults who work in hospitals, and their child under age 2. The adults are fully vaxxed. They all have pretty severe symptoms, though not so severe that they need to be hospitalized.
"No worse than the flu"? Maybe the anti-vaxxers' bleating is accurate. What they're not saying is that the flu can be pretty awful. I have been pretty miserable with the flu. And that's why I get a flu shot every year.

I am not expecting to die from either the flu or Covid, but I also don't want to be miserable for 3 days or 7 days or 10 days. So, I get a flu shot every year. And if I have to get a covid booster too - that is fine by me. Also, I don't recall anyone suffering from "long-flu" but I know several people who had either no taste or nasty taste for months. And long term exhaustion seems to be an issue too. Why go through that if you don't have to?
