I don’t have chuck’s but I do have some cultured pearls that I can wear today as I watch from my couch. My son wore chucks all through high school and beyond. I have a drawing a friend of his made of his old chucks, all frayed and slouchy. Love that!

If I leave my house I'll try to remember. I knew people were making a big thing about her wearing chucks with her business suits. I haven't done it in a while, but back in my early/mid 20s I was often found out at a bar in a sparkly dress wearing knock-off chucks that were a black pinstripe. my sister's wedding was at an outdoor venue, the ceremony took place in a mulched area near the water. she and I wore flip flops for the ceremony so we didn't kill ourselves trying to get down the aisle, and for the reception she changed to a pair of pink Chucks with "Mrs. <last name>" embroidered on them. I thought my mother's head was going to explode.

Got my pearls on. Trying to impress on both kids how important this day is for women in this country.

I have my pearls on, too. Freshwater pearls of a steely blue-gray color. I actually have several colors, but this is my favorite. They're really comfortable. I should wear them more often.

My local Facebook moms group is currently in an uproar because wearing pearls today may be cultural appropriation. Why? Because Kamala Harris was a member of a black sorority that wears pearls.
In general I like the group because they are very supportive of other women. It's times like these that remind me that too many members spend too much time over analyzing every situation.

I wore my pearls and tee that says "She's Electable." I do have Chucks but since I'm home all day I wore thick socks with my slippers, lol. Drank mimosas, too!

Sent DD12 to school wearing my pearls today.
I'm thinking tomorrow's outfit should be her yellow polo uniform shirt and a bright red headband ala Amanda Gorman.

I opened my jewelry box this morning to get my ring, and guess what else was in there. A pearl necklace with *diamonds” between the pearls on the front. I have no idea where it came from, probably a wedding I was in at some point lol. I put it on, with my jeans and hoodie and went to work.

One of my coworkers did get who I was referring to when I said something about Chucks and pearls, but she didn’t know people were wearing them today. She seemed kind of disappointed because she has some chucks and would’ve worn them had she known. I thought it was really cool that you and billisonboard decided to wear Chucks today, whether anyone “got it” or not.

No. Although she does wear a strand of 20 pearls as a nod to her sorority, it wasn’t just her sorority sisters that wore pearls today. Chucks and pearls was just a fun way of displaying symbols to represent solidarity and show support for the first woman to become VP of our country. Sheesh! People pick apart everything and spoil the fun. Ugh! If I’d seen anything to make me think it was something else, or only meant for certain people, I wouldn’t have shared it here. Anyway, I’ve enjoyed seeing the posts from everyone that wore their chucks and/or pearls today. God bless America!

I wore my pearls and Chucks too (even though I worked from home). I saw a comment under a post on FB where a woman said she lives in Norway, but she still wore pearls today. I thought that was awesome, just like I think it’s awesome that you wore chucks and pearls today. I’m glad that people around the world haven’t given up on us!

Women all over the world wear pearls, it’s not something that the AKA’s discovered or invented. And every AKA that I know was on board with the chucks and pearls theme for today, they just wore green or pink chucks. Good grief people!

A local friend who was elected as a judge back in the 2018 sweep of our local elections by women and especially women of color, posted her photo with her fellow judges in chucks and pearls. I really loved that one pearl necklace she wore was her mother's, broken but rebuilt by a talented friend into a new piece. The other was a gift from her long-dead mother-in-law, a classic pearl choker. I loved the blend of old and new, traditional and contemporary, original and recreated. Maybe a metaphor for America.

Speaking of pearls and sororities, my fraternity pin has 16 small pearls, 2 on each side of an octagon.

That's a lot of work! A good pearl necklace has knots between all the pearls. That way, if it breaks, all the pearls don't scatter hither and yon.

Yup, that's how the pearl necklace I inherited from my MIL is. Original silk string is still solid, all 32 inches of the necklace.

The chucks of my youth are long gone. Even though I work from home, I wore a string of “pearls” given to me by my favorite brother when we were teenagers. I was wearing a tatty sweatshirt with those pearls, but since it is just me, myself, and I who cares?

As I said earlier, I do like the group but there's a definite virtue-signaling element as well as a tendency to engage in "I'm more woke than you" competitions disguised as discussions.
