Rep Jamie Raskin, who is on the J6 committee, says we now have evidence to support the story of the worst presidential political offense against the union in American history, and starting on June 9 will have public hearings to present the case to Americans.
The MAGA faithful will claim this is all a political witch-hunt. The Dems will scream in outrage. But will the DOJ move on it?

What’s that mental illness called where you focus with laser intensity on a single thing and everything that happens you manage to tie back to that single thing? Hyper focus? Is that a thing? Bi polar? OCD

The committee subpoenaed McCarthy and four other GOP congressmen. Interesting. They seemed to think on MSNBC last night that they would not comply. Barbra McQuade (SP) indicated that in a criminal case, prosecutors are not able to explain that an unwillingness to testify is indicative of guilt, but in a congressional trial they are not constrained from making that case - so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Orange king says the committee is illegitimate so it’s fine to just ignore it. However, I believe Ivanka, Jared and Don jr all testified.

McCarthy 'Has Nowhere to Run' After Jan. 6 Subpoena, Ruling: Kirschner
Legal analyst Glenn Kirschner said Sunday that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy "has nowhere to run" after being subpoenaed by the House select committee that is investigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots. He spoke about the matter on MSNBC, touching on his previous assertions that McCarthy might be guilty of "misprision of a felony." As he explained to host Yasmin Vossoughian, "misprision of a felony" occurs when someone is aware that a felony has been done, but does not report it to the authorities. It is a federal offense that can result in a three-year jail sentence. The House minority leader was among five prominent Republicans subpoenaed for testimony by the committee on Thursday, alongside Representatives Jim Jordan, Andy Biggs, Mo Brooks, and Scott Perry. All were previously asked to speak voluntarily and refused. Kirschner explained Sunday that McCarthy is now in a bind following a ruling in California by federal Judge David Carter, who found "as a matter of law" that former President Donald Trump and lawyer John Eastman had committed federal felonies together, "by a preponderance of the evidence." "So now, McCarthy has nowhere to run, because if he refuses to comply with this subpoena...he absolutely exposes himself to committing the crime of misprision of a felony," Kirschner said. "Because not only is the crime cognizable in the court of the United States, but a judge has cognized it...So McCarthy will be violating that federal statute if he continues to defy the subpoena and continues to conceal Donald Trump's crimes." The legal analyst previously said on his YouTube channel that misprision might not be the only crime McCarthy could be charged with. "[It] also looks like accessory after the fact," he said. "Also looks like they are criminal co-conspirators with Donald Trump in his conspiracy to defraud or commit crimes against the United States. So many crimes to choose from." None of the Republicans subpoenaed Thursday have said that they intend to comply with the orders. McCarthy himself, speaking to reporters after the subpoenas were announced, reiterated his past comments about the legitimacy of the House select committee. "Look, my view on the committee has not changed," McCarthy said. "They're not conducting legitimate investigation. It seems as though they just want to go after their political opponents." it actually doesn't matter how it "seems", Kev. this is not politics any more. the subpoena carries the force of law.

John Eastman Says He Dealt Directly With Trump Over Jan. 6 PlansWASHINGTON — The conservative lawyer John Eastman, the architect of a strategy to overturn the 2020 election, dealt directly with President Donald J. Trump and received handwritten notes from him as the men sought to keep Mr. Trump in power, according to a new court filing. The filing underscored how instrumental Mr. Eastman was in devising ways to fight Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory, and how personally involved Mr. Trump was in the attempt to keep the presidency in his hands. It also provided further documentation of how members of the Trump campaign and White House aides were involved in the plans. The filing came as the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol is preparing for public hearings in June about the attempt to overturn the election, and as more information has emerged about Mr. Eastman’s role in advising state officials in Pennsylvania to reject votes cast in favor of Mr. Biden. Mr. Eastman did not release the contents of his communications with Mr. Trump and others in the White House and the Trump campaign, but he described them in general terms in a filing in his federal lawsuit in California against the House committee. He is fighting the release of hundreds of documents that the panel has demanded via subpoena, including by arguing that some of them are protected by attorney-client privilege. In the filing on Thursday, Mr. Eastman argued that some of his emails with the White House and Trump campaign were covered by attorney-client privilege because, he said, the people he communicated with were functioning as “conduits” for or “agents” of Mr. Trump. He said he mostly communicated with Mr. Trump using six intermediaries, three of whom worked for the Trump campaign and three of whom worked directly for Mr. Trump while he was in office. But Mr. Eastman said he also spoke directly to Mr. Trump, and the filing stated that Mr. Eastman received two “handwritten notes from former President Trump about information that he thought might be useful for the anticipated litigation.” “While Dr. Eastman could (and did) communicate directly with former President Trump at times, many of his communications with the president were necessarily through these agents,” Mr. Eastman’s lawyer, Charles Burnham, wrote, referring to the six intermediaries. The documents Mr. Eastman is seeking to block from release include the two handwritten notes from Mr. Trump; communications with what he called “potential clients,” including seven state legislators, who were seeking advice about how to challenge their states’ election results; a document discussing “various scenarios for Jan. 6”; and another discussing the “need to pursue election integrity litigation even in the event of Trump loss for the good of the country.” In March, the federal judge in the case ruled that Mr. Eastman and Mr. Trump had most likely committed felonies as they pushed to overturn the election, including obstructing the work of Congress and conspiring to defraud the United States. The actions taken by Mr. Trump and Mr. Eastman, the judge found, amounted to “a coup in search of a legal theory.” At the time, the judge, David O. Carter of Federal District Court for the Central District of California, ordered the release of more than 100 of Mr. Eastman’s emails; Mr. Eastman turned them over to the House committee as he continued to fight the release of others. I’ve heard from various different media sources that the texts and emails coming and going from Meadows shows a clear path to treason. Should be interesting.

Apparently he’s not much of a lawyer. It didn’t seem to occur to him if you ignore a subpoena to testify to a congressional committee eventually people come and put you in handcuffs. He’s been wailing about how he was about to go to Nashville and instead the grabbed him and threw him in handcuffs and leg irons. Poor snowflake.

First public hearing from the J6 committee is this Thursday in prime time, but the case against Trump specifically is being held off until the last hearing (I think there will 6 total).
I would love for these hearing to have some much evidence as back up and be so earth shattering the public outrage against Trump will be so vocal the DOJ will snap him and his minions up.
In reality though, I think not much will change. Trump already has a coordinated attack organized against the committee, spreading the Maga minions to all friendly media outlets to claim the J6 committee is unfair! Unconstitutional! Horrible biased! Illegal! And witch Hunt!!! So no one on the far right will even watch the hearings. The far left will be shouting’we told you guys Trump is an asshole!’ so no change there. At most, Trump might lose a few independents. And the DOJ will continue to be immobile.

Dumbass Proud Boys were letting a documentary videographer follow them around, and he got some nice video of the Proud Boys conspiring with a couple other insurgent groups in a parking garage near the capital on J6.
Guess who has that video now.
Thank God for stupid people.
