I heard on the news that Doctors Without Borders is coming to the US. They go where the need is greatest, and so far it seems to me that they've always had a big presence in third world countries.
Is this what we've become because of the coronavirus and the government's seeming disinterest in making even the smallest effort to contain it? Are we now a third world country when it comes to medicine?

Your link doesn't read like a fundraiser event: "In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) began working in key sites across the United States to reach vulnerable groups that often lack access to health care. We ran limited operations in the US between April and October and have now concluded these activities. MSF teams worked with local authorities and community-based organizations on a wide range of projects, including support for people who are homeless or housing insecure in New York City; migrant farmworkers in Florida; Native American communities in the Navajo Nation and Pueblos; and neglected and marginalized communities in Puerto Rico. Our teams also worked with staff in nursing homes and long-term care facilities in Michigan and Texas to offer training in infection prevention and control measures and support for mental health and wellness."

Yup, DSIL was working near some tribal land and crossed paths with them. Nice group. Had better PPE then he did. They shared.

Doctors Without Borders is not a bad thing. My now retired doctor donated his time through them for years.
He treated children with AIDS in Romanian orphanages. He treated patients with HIV/AIDS in Uganda. He treated people in Indonesia. He treated ebola patients in Ghana He treated refugee children in Mexico
I donate to Doctors Without Borders every year because of the work he did through them.

I’ve been seeing references to MSF coming to the US with the recent spike (see OP) confirming that US is now? Turning into? A third world country under Trump Google search seems to indicate MSF were in US but ended work here in October

If the cases increase as they are now, and hospitals become overwhelmed with serious new cases, we just might see MSF back again.

It feels like we are a third world country. Lack of ppe is ongoing, medication shortages, testing shortages, hospital bed shortages, staff shortages, and lack of real leadership. That sound like the richest, most technologically advanced country in the world? From my vantage point, it sure doesn’t feel that way

Just believe the opposite of what is the official trump administration position. Last week, we had to discuss which patients we would do covid tests on in house with a 4-6 hour turnaround time, and which ones we would send out with a 24-48 hour turnaround time. Why? Because we didn’t get our weekly reagent supply due to qc problems with the manufacturer. So we were down to a handful of tests, but we luckily got our supply. We have to sterilize our N95 masks, and reuse them for days. There may be enough beds, but who will care for the patients. You can’t just make new doctors or nurses. Does this sound like everything is good

During the 1918 pandemic they had to make 1st year medical students into doctors and nurses out of just about anyone who was able/willing.
I honestly think people in the US don't realize they very well could need medical care for COVID or something else and find themselves completely without.
NY brought in travel nurses from many other states. When every state is raging, where do those nurses come from?

MSF go where they're needed most. It does not mean we've become a third-world country. I'm guessing that a good deal of their donations come from the US (I've donated generously). No disgrace in needing help when US-funded organizations go everywhere else during crises (and how many foreign NGOs show up when we have major natural catastrophes)? NY brought in travel nurses from many other states. When every state is raging, where do those nurses come from? A funny/sad post-script on this: those nurses were horrified when they found out that their earnings while in NY were subject to substantial NY state and local city taxes. Yeah, states are greedy that way.

No, fundraiser in the sense that people will see MSF working and donate If they are going to communities that are healthcare deserts, most people - especially people rich enough to donate - won't have any contact. They are probably on Reservations and places like the Mississippi River Valley and Appalachian communities that are insanely poverty stricken, isolated and are basically third-world countries. No running water, no electricity, etc. They aren't volunteering at Cedars-Sinai.

In March, the two largest hospital systems in Iowa loaned employees from their hospital to hospitals that had a spike. Now that the entire state is in crisis, that can't happen.

A week ago there were a record-breaking 100,000 new cases/day reported. This morning it's up to 150,000.
Meanwhile, PINO is safely ensconced in the White House refusing to speak and pouting like a five-year-old, unwilling exhibit any sort of leadership while Americans are dropping like flies, and still there are people who believe that a person like that, obviously devoid of empathy/sympathy/human feeling and uncaring about how his behavior has affected our country, how it affects us now and will in the future...that he's the last best hope for America? What?
Think about that. There are those who are still alive and who voted for him, who are pouting along with him, and who would be willing to vote for him again, while more Americans are sick and dying and will continue to get sick and die because he has declined to lead.

(President in name only.) So #resistance he’s ‘not my president’ is still on? Great way to unite the country Just following the lead of not my leader. Tell me, exactly, what do you most admire about him? Is it his honesty and transparency with the American people? Is it his personal integrity, shunning the even the smallest appearance of dishonesty? His obviously high moral character, again making sure that he shuns the smallest appearance of impropriety? His compassion? His unmatched intellect? His exceptional command of the English language? His ability to put himself in the other person's shoes and act accordingly? His maturity? His tolerance? Maybe it's his willingness to accept responsibility when things go sideways and never ever blame anybody else for his own failures. What? Precisely.

People with Narcissistic Personality Disorder like to flock together. That explains about 2% of the population that are glued to Trump as their messiah. They feed off each other's power and desire to control the world, be the "bestest", be connected to the "strong" people in society, etc... This is why people with NPD are often in positions of power in government, churches, etc... This will be seen en masse tomorrow as the Proud Boys, aka Vanilla ISIS, take over the streets in DC.

Or, is it only the Democrats who have to be the reasonable ones
