On the old msn boards I was "Old Man Ken" and often called omk for short. I decided to be just "ken" here but wanted everyone to recognize me. Hence I'm now "ken a.k.a OMK". I'm still old.

My nick on the old boards was FLCheesehead. I derived that from being born and raised in WI. Moved to FL as a young adult with my ex and kids. Everyone kept shortening my name to Cheesy. I changed it again a year ago to its current iteration since I now live in the Volunteer state, TN.

My family is Irish and German, all Catholic. Had 3 great aunts on dad's side that were nuns, my mom's sister is a nun and I have two younger 2nd cousins who are also priests in our diocese (very small population diocese so we have a 10% voting block in the diocese. lol)

I firmly believe that my sons raised themselves
My older son (32) lives outside of Chicago
He got married in August
The ONLY THING that I wanted to do was give a toast at his wedding dinner
He begged me not to
Did I listen?
I told him that his father could see him and was SO PROUD OF HIM
BOTH OF HIS NEW WIFE'S PARENTS CAME OVER AND HUGGED ME
Sometimes you have to cry

Iāve been a big Prince fan since I was in elementary school even though I probably shouldnāt have been listening to his music back then lol.
Pink Cashmere is the name of one of his songs that came out later in his career, (and after I was an adult, I think). Iām not sure/donāt remember why I chose it for my SN on the old boards, but thatās where I got Pink Cashmere from and I kept the name when we moved to ProBoards.

We are in the eastern end of the state. We fell in love with the mountains. The mountains are definitely beautiful. But after my 1 and only visit to the mountains in that part of the state Iām good if I never have to drive or ride up a mountain again. DH and I were vacationing in Dandridge a few years ago, and one day we were just driving around and came upon a public fire tower road. I do not have height phobias, but holy hell, never again. The road was narrow and no guard rails. I nearly had to pry my hands off of whatever they were clutching.

DH and I were vacationing in Dandridge a few years ago, and one day we were just driving around and came upon a public fire tower road. I do not have height phobias, but holy hell, never again. The road was narrow and no guard rails. I nearly had to pry my hands off of whatever they were clutching. We visited Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge for a family vacation. Iād always said I wanted to stay in the mountains someday, so we rented a place in the mountains. Iād never considered that weād have to drive up the mountain to get there. Or that weād have to drive down to explore ātownā and back up again to get back āhomeā. The roads on the mountain were too narrow for my comfort, and the steep drop offs on the side of the road (with no guard rails) wrecked my nerves. I quickly learned that I didnāt think that whole āstaying in the mountainsā thing through. I also declared that we had to be āhomeā before it got dark. I wouldāve slept in the van, parked in town, before I wouldāve tried to get up that mountain in the dark. When we first got there and were making our way up the mountain to get to where we would be staying, I could hear DBFās youngest teen daughter, who was sitting right behind me, quietly saying every few minutes āthis is too high. This is too highā, I agreed with her, but didnāt say anything out loud. The van weād rented didnāt even like it, it would whine like it was struggling. Even though I wasnāt driving, I couldnāt tear my eyes away from the road long enough to enjoy the scenery when we were going up or down the mountain, but the views of the Smokey Mountains from where we were staying were breathtaking. The Eastern part of the state is beautiful, including the mountains, but I donāt ever want to drive up a mountain again. Iāve BTDT and Iām over it.

I-40 through the Smokies is white knuckle driving especially when you are side-by-side with a tractor-trailer on a sharp bend in the highway.
