it's worse. it is a contagion. the GOP apparently now sees this as the path forward. i always figured that they would just figure a way to attract young voters and remake the party. but i was wrong. they have decided that neo-fascism is the better course. “Any Republicans wanna speak out now?”: Alarm after Trump shares “civil war” post
Former President Donald Trump over the weekend shared a post on his Truth Social app invoking a "civil war." Trump on Saturday "retruthed" a post by a random Truth Social user called "MAGA King Thanos" either calling for or predicting a "Civil war." The original post was in response to another post from former Fox Nation host Lara Logan, who shared screenshot of a tweet by El Salvadorian President Nayib Bukele. Bukele, who has been likened to a "mini Trump" while clashing with the Biden administration, shared a Bloomberg News article about rising inflation in the United States. "The most powerful country in the world is falling so fast, that it makes you rethink what are the real reasons," Bukele's tweet said. "Something so big and powerful can't be destroyed so quickly, unless the enemy comes from within." Conservative attorney George Conway flagged the post on Twitter. "Nothing to see here," Conway wrote. "Just a former president of the United States sharing a social media post advocating or predicting civil war in the United States. No biggie." If civil war does break out here, they’d get a flood of refuges trying to escape, as well as attacks of aggressive extremely well armed militia coming over the border to rampage. And it wouldn’t be a long shot to imagine a civil outbreak if we have another contested presidential election.

I think they should be worried, but I would expect them getting more people wanting to move to Canada than any other scenario. I do not see southerners wanting to move to Canada, let alone claim some of it for terroritory.

I live in the South — I can easily see the rural areas becoming the property of warlords or heavily armed religious militia, while a good part of the urban/suburban areas attempt to leave the country. I’d love to live in Canada, but if several million people like me attempt to immigrate, that would be a problem for them. This reminds me of the Handmaid’s Tale, with the groups of American ex patriots settled in Canada following a horrific religious civil war. So much of the Handmaid’s Tale is threatening to become real right now.
