Still very low on stock of paper products (TP, paper towels, paper plates, reynolds wrap, bags, etc).
Newest OOS - bacon bits. Have not seen any for a month.

As I quarantine for the next 12 days due to exposure to covid, I am very glad that I am fully stocked. And I do mean fully. I have diet coke, alcohol, fresh bread, eggs, (powdered) milk, etc. The only thing I wasn't certain that I had enough of was dog food. I don't know how long Penny's food really lasts since I bought a big bag last time. I had a pet food storage container left from Abby, and it makes the cost cheaper. But I went to Amazon, and they are delivering another big bag on Monday. So she will be fine. This is an eye-opening experience for me. I was stocking up for winter, but now I know I need to keep 2 weeks of stuff in the house at all times. Yes, I can have stuff delivered, but I am a little too frugal to do that often. Prices are higher than in the store, and then you are expected to tip 20%. Ouch.

Don’t know where you are , but Costco has a Kirkland brand that is great . It is a big bag though . I’m in SoCal and haven’t had a problem finding them or buying the smaller bags they sell at most grocery stores .

I decided to try Imperfect Foods. Got my first box and I am pretty happy. I did mostly produce for the first box. I'm doing a second box this week with more pantry staples and see how that works out.
Then I think I'll switch to biweekly.

Using my unofficial method of tracking Amazon's pantry stock, they are now down to 5 pages fewer offerings in food items than the last time I checked.
Most of what I've ordered in the past to stock the pantry is sold out or more expensive.
I haven't shopped locally. I need fresh and dairy items so I will check that out when I go. I also really need to find more dog food.

Even emergency kits are usually only for 3 days. Who'd have thought we'd need a minimum of 2 weeks, or more? Jeepers!
I rent and don't have space to store all that.
I will be SO glad when we get past this nightmare.

Doctor son (voted for Biden) sent to family that Biden may announce entire country lockdown for 3-4 weeks I’m sceptical that this will be accepted in many areas in country And what will this do to economy? Hmmm, what's worse, a quick, effective lockdown that helps tamp down the infection rate OR a long, drawn, out surge with other severe restrictions in place? I personally think a quick, total, lockdown will do less economic harm than a long, drawn-out, restrictive surge. And, frankly, the economy is already a mess. Massachusetts just implemented a curfew from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Restaurants and bars -- one of the most struggling industries -- must stop serving at 9:30. I think the shortened business day for the long haul will be harder than a planned, short, total lockdown. And even if the virus completely disappeared off of the face of the earth tomorrow we will be dealing with the economic affects of this mishandled pandemic for years. Years. There is going to be a tragic correction in the near future, I fear -- foreclosures, evictions, bankruptcies, repossessions, etc. are all looming. I'd rather "rip off the bandaid" and get back to safe rebuilding. JMHO. YMMV and likely will. P.S. I'm not sure how your DS voted is relevant. Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Anarchists -- we're all facing the same tragic consequences from this mishandled pandemic.

It's been a proven fact since this started that locking down and flattening the curve is ultimately better for the economy, for keeping kids in school, and businesses being able to be open.
Biden isn't out to ruin anyone's business. That's a right-wing bullshit talking point.
We need to take action to bring the virus load down in this country or hundreds of thousands of people are going to die and our healthcare system is going to be seriously damaged. And, right now, we are doing NOTHING in many areas.
We had 126,000 new infections just yesterday and are back to over 1K deaths a day. We have no vaccine and few treatments. Also, 25-35% of people who get COVID and have symptoms end up being long-haulers. That's a lot of our population to end up permanently disabled.
The current predictions are 400K dead by the time Biden even takes office. 200K cases and 2K+ deaths per day. Look at the graph, if you think that's BS.
To date, over 2K healthcare providers have DIED from COVID. Who takes care of sick people then?
Doctors, nurses, etc... are already in short supply or non-existent in much of the country outside of big cities.
We are getting ready for a winter that kills off a bunch more because of our inability to get the virus under control. And, there won't be reinforcements this go round from other states, because they will all be buried in patients in their own areas.
We have about 50 cases here now. I noticed 100% mask compliance at the grocery store today. The stores have finally stepped-up and started refusing to let people shop without them. It's a nice change.
I still plan to hunker down. With less than 1 in every 100 people here being positive, it's time to avoid as much human interaction and indoor non-circulated air as possible.
I am getting mail/packages once a week and fresh foods once every other week. If the cases continue to climb, we won't leave home. I really, really don't want COVID and will do whatever's necessary to avoid getting it.

Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Anarchists -- we're all facing the same tragic consequences from this mishandled pandemic.So.Much.F'n.This! This is the one frustrating thing I just don't understand about Americans. If last year you came down with food poisoning or a sexually-transmitted disease, for example, the ER would be mandated to report it to the Public Health Department. Why? Because other members of the public might be in danger of having or catching the disease. To prevent outbreaks, they "contact trace". For the good of the rest of the citizenry. I had contact tracing done when I got sick last year from eating under-cooked Costco chicken. They wanted to know what store it came from, if others got sick, etc... But, somehow, contact tracing is now about the government getting all up in your personal business and unconstitutional. Wearing a protective covering to avoid potentially infecting others is about "democrats wanting to run your life". Asking everyone to stay home to slow the spread is democrats wanting to ruin your business and make you go on welfare... It's freaking insanity. It's not like the experts don't know how to slow the spread of COVID. We just have half the population refusing to listen or even care.

Seeing as this can't happen until February at the earliest, it would be fine here in the North. Driving isn't real fun in the snow, anyhow. On the other hand, summer would be hard to accept.

Spain had a very strict lockdown far more than here and it wasn’t very effective So wondering if any real result might be expected

I heard Joe will announce his CV task force soon - before he is innagurated and before announcing anything else. They have already started gathering information and recommendations from experts. I won't speculate on what they will do. I am going to wait and see what their plan is.

I don't think he's going to get compliance with a lock down. Too many governors and other leaders are saying they will not lock down again.
Too many people think it's fake or no big deal. My state had a lock down. It stopped community spread from moving from the bigger counties to ones like this. So the people here don't know anyone who got it and think it's no big thing and that the lock down and subsequent safer at home just ruined the economy and local businesses.

Since hospitals and doctors and schools are begging our governor to do anything to stop the spread, I would like something coming from the federal government.
Our state numbers are so manipulated that nobody really knows how we are doing.
The positivity rate for my county is over 45% today. I would welcome a mask mandate. Anything. We have never had a statewide mask mandate.
For the last month, the governor was out campaigning for the GOP at unmasked events the doctors expect numbers to go up. Yesterday the GOP held a meeting to elect their new legislative leaders. No one wore a mask.
Until the GOP gets it through it's thick head that this is real, it's not going to improve.
Whatever happened to the "it'll go away on November 4?" Covid is still here and is killing more Iowans and Americans every day.

I did the local grocery shopping today. It was my first in about a month.
I was pleased to see they once again had a variety of canned foods and tomato products.
I needed some tomato paste and was able to get a few cans for $0.39 each.
I like to use the $0.99 cans of spaghetti sauce as a base for my homemade sauce and was able to get a couple cans of that as well.
They had baking supplies but were almost out of sugar. Still no cake mixes.
They had tons of toilet paper, but no paper towels. For a while now they've had more paper towels than TP. They did have big packages of napkins as an alternative to paper towels, I guess.
I have some paper towels left and will probably order some on Amazon. They have their own brand for a decent price. Otherwise, I have a bunch of towels and washcloths we can use instead.
The one thing they had very little of was quality dog food. They had a pallet of cheap kibble and only small bags of everything else. I like to feed my dog a high-quality grain-free food due to allergies and it's been hard to find. When my discount grocer has it in stock it's a lot cheaper than going to the feed store or ordering it online.

I order our pet food from Chewy and find it is cheaper than buying it locally. Of course it's a special diet type, but cheaper than the vets price too.

I stocked my pantry last weekend with no problem in my grocery pickup. I order 2 large packages of TP (max allowed) with every grocery pickup. We almost ran out last spring so I'm being overly cautious.

If the vaccines work and get released soon, I don't think Joe gets credit. A bunch of people will try, but neither he nor Trump gets credit for that.
The real test will be what Joe does before a vaccine - which could be months or years.
