What are options these days?
My sister will watch the kids, but at our house. There's no staying in option for us.
Anything beyond going on a walk...

I don't suppose there is a drive-in there? It's a hard question when the weather is colder.
Our local theatre is putting on a drive-in live performance (Rocky Horror Picture Show) around Halloween. Anything like that, maybe?

Are they doing drive in movies anywhere near you? I've heard those are making a come back. Other than that, I got nothing. All our date night activities (Dallas Symphony Orchestra is my favorite) are cancelled right now. We ended up just donating our DSO ticket costs to the music program for this year. I hope they'll plan at least two nights for 2021.

We have a drive in somewhat close. Theyre playing labyrinth which I love, but not enough to watch it in the car with dh.
Our last date night we bought a fridge. :/

Can you change it from date night to possibly an afternoon and have a picnic in the park while it's still warm during daytime to look at the tree changing colors?
I really don't want to be anywhere with lots of people so none of the usual options work.

Are they doing drive in movies anywhere near you?Our local theater has an out door stage and is doing 'drive-in' type shows and music. Really great entertainment. We grab our fun as we can get it .........

Can you get take out from a nice restaurant and watch a movie at her house? That's a great idea! Dsis has 11 cats, a couple dogs, and a roommate so its not ideal with her. But I may suggest it to dh if we could do that with his sister at some point.

I should get some ideas together. This is likely to be our last week of great outdoor weather. We've done outdoor movies with DH's family and the local driving range/mini golf place.
We've talked about outdoor dining but we haven't done it yet. We just get take out. We also go to his immediate family's houses. I believe we've all been decently careful and we've been getting together since Easter.
ETA: maybe some outdoor fall activities? Orchard, pumpkin patch? They put a bunch of Halloween decorations out on our main street.

We were going to an outdoor yoga class which was a great date night.
It's going to be a long winter.

I second the long winter statement and it hasn't even started here yet.

Corn maze, haunted trail?
I was thinking of investing in more winter sports gear for when it snows. I have some old cross-country skies. I'm not sure if the kids would like it or not. I'd love to take them downhill skiing, but it's so expensive.

What's a date? Married for 17 years and together for 10 before that. I have no concept of a date.😉

Maybe snowshoeing.

We load our bikes, head to various parks and go for long rides. We're still getting some warm days here.

We mostly wait until the kids are in bed and then binge Netflix/streaming shows. To make it super fancy we would sometimes go down to the basement theater room, but we've had someone living with us for the last two months, so basement is off limits. However, another adult here means we can scoot out once the kids are in bed. Go get coffee, drive around, walk around a few stores here (its pretty sparse after 7pm, lol). We've gone out maybe once per month. Super exciting over here

Maybe snowshoeing. My Mom loved cross country skiing. When she was introduced to the sport she lived in a condo complex that she could just strap on the skis and ski from there. I tried it once when I came home for a holiday, but the snow wasn't that great the day we went out. That said, its great exercise and you are less likely to really hurt yourself if you stick with moderate ground.

DH and I went out for a drive with our shotguns and did a little pheasant hunting. It was a wonderful trip out of the house. We saw deer, antelope, geese, grouse and prairie dogs. We got two and need to cook em up soon. Tastes like chicken!

They (pheasants) taste richer, more dense than chicken, maybe more like restaurant duck. Depends on what they were eating. Corn, soybeans or sunflowers. No gamey taste because DH cleans our birds right away and then they soak in salt water until prepped.
1 bird can feed two people, they are the size of a small chicken. We like to eat them boned out and chicken fried or deep fried nuggets or stir fried with veggies.
I don't shoot or eat prairie dogs, I just like to watch them run around. On a calm day you can here them whistling and calling to each other. If you ever get to Badlands National Park there are lots of them before the entrance.

My H. and I restarted geocaching when covid hit. The website is free. The game is finding a cache that has either trinkets or a log to sign then it's logged on the internet. There are a lot of different types of games to play but we stay with the basic one. It is interesting to look into. I do suggest becoming familiar with the website before starting. The maps can be downloaded onto a cell phone from the play store. If you have limited data on your phone, a gps can be used.
I'll make a list of cache places on paper to help us stay in one focus area, to note the hints, and attributes of the cache. Attributes are difficulty, terrain, size of the cache, etc.
Other cachers make comments which can help in finding the "treasure".
This is more a day time activity but there are night time caches.
This is a world wide activity.

An older friend used to make a wild rice casserole that had grouse or pheasant, depending on what was available, in it. Really, really good. (Remember that I’m a MN kid. We consider hot dish (casserole) fine dining.)

Our anniversary today. We were going to go hang out at the lake, but didn't make it out in time. We did chores and took a nap. Our kids are here. We will probably make dinner for the 4 of us. Romance is hard.

Happy anniversary! If you are feeling adventurous/culturally-starved, the AZ Opera is showing outside films this weekend. Tickets are only $15.
