At first I was like I am not sure how to feel about this www.google.com/amp/s/www.kiro7.com/news/trending/police-las-vegas-man-refused-let-anyone-break-window-rescue-daughter-hot-car/LGNIZTK74VHH5OQCG7MWUZAUOA/%3foutputType=ampBut that is not true, I do. You break that damn car window. I have been broke, I have been really broke, I have been ashamed of my brokenness, bills past due, but I don’t care how broke I am: I will be broke and driving with garbage bags instead of glass window before I risk my daughter’s life. My car window was broken in Newark, NJ so they could steal the radio from the car, most likely a crackhead and I remember being pissed because Replacing the car window would cost me more money than the damn radio they stole. I drove in the dead of winter for ~3 months with just black plastic bag instead of a glass window. How do you let an hour pass by then 2... With the child inside the car. And he thought the AC was in, so she did not cry? The heat? That poor baby.... And the mother of the child? How did a whole neighborhood + police stood by for ~2 hours while a child died in a heated car?

There has to be more to this story. I don't think the police could not not break the windows. This makes me so sad.

This is a sad story. I wish the brother would have said broken window or locksmith now. Or something. My guess is he was so upset about the argument he really didn't remember consciously what he did or did not do. He wasn't thinking clearly. I doubt replacing a window is cheaper than a locksmith, but I don't know.

That is a very sad story. And I too think there is more to the story than is in the story. My family has a genetic quirk that causes us all to lock our keys in our cars... often. So, I'm pretty familiar with getting into locked cars without any help. That said, the newer cars aren't as friendly so sometimes you need help to get into it. www.thumbtack.com/p/locksmiths-prices#:~:text=In%20general%2C%20having%20a%20locksmith,or%20scratching%20your%20car's%20paint. Of course, maybe the newest of cars don't have a "key"?? I remember my friend's dad's Cadillac had some sort of keyless entry - and if you couldn't get into the car you could call a special number and they could unlock your car for you... All of this, makes me wonder if there is more to this story... if the car was a high end model with keyless entry - wasn't there a number a call? The brother (or mother or girlfriend or neighbor) nor anyone else couldn't scrape up the $$ for a locksmith? Maybe my "privilege" is showing - I could turn to a list of people for help if I was in a situation like this. TBH: I know for a fact I would have broken a window (if I couldn't come up with a way to get into that vehicle within a 15 minutes or so - assuming the engine was running and I knew the AC was on... sooner if the car was off...like I wouldn't have waited at all... ) I'm with TheHaitian - I would have driven around with a plastic bag/cardboard/ducttape over the window for how ever long it took to get it replaced.

This is so wrong in every way. I'm very sad for this needless death. Among all of the grownups there was not a single adult. That poor child.

As a mom, I am completely disgusted by not only the dad's actions, but the mother's. Who in the hell worries about the cost of a window when your child's life is at risk? It was 98 damn degrees! I have been dirt poor before and I still would have smashed one of the windows to get my baby out to safety. These are horrible people. I had my window smashed a few years ago when it was parked in a parking lot. It cost me $100 from Safelight auto. And Safelight actually came to my work and fixed it without me having to do anything. I'm sorry, but if the "father" could afford a new car he sure as hell could have afforded the $100 to fix a window.
I'm also disgusted with the police. I think they are so afraid to do anything that could potentially get them accused of harming innocent citizens, that they stood down when this man told them too. I am not up on the laws but I would think the police would have the right to smash a window to save a life. I can assure you that if I saw a child in a car in the dead of summer that I would be breaking the window.
I just can't imagine a world where anything came above the life of my child.

This is so sad. I would have picked up a brick and thrown it ........ and spent time in jail if need be. So heart breaking And after I broke the window and got the kid out, I would have used it to knock the parents out cold. A car window worth more than the life of a child? How do you ever figure the math on this? What schooling teaches you this equation? I did it once to rescue a dog in a hot car. The owner of the car was mad. The cops wrote the car owner a citation, took the dog and thanked me.
If I did it four a four-legged creature, you better believe I would tell every person standing around that car to back or or prepare to meet a fate worse than death, and the next sound you would hear is breaking glass.
I'd hope that every adult involved in this incident is arrested. You could have done something and didn't? That's criminal.

There has to be more to this story. I don't think the police could not not break the windows. This makes me so sad. It says that by the time they broke the window rigor mortis had already set in. How long does it take after dead for that to happen? I would think more than just a few minutes. So unless the story was incorrect on that point something is really off here....

Granted I only have experience with a few, but all the keyless models I know won't lock the doors if the key fob is inside. Kind of a dumbass you don't have your keys thing.

It just seems so odd that the police just stood by. Fire fighters will smash your windows if you're parked in front of a fire hydrant to run hoses through your car. If they can do that to save a building, how did none of the cops just go fuck you and smash the window?
Plus the air conditioner only runs if the car is running. Really easy to find out unless it was a 100% electric car.

Riger Mortis sets in from 2 to 6 hours depending on body part.
These people need to be charged with murder and accessory to murder.

These people need to be charged with murder and accessory to murder. which might mean the child was dead when the police arrived.... which may have effected their actions. I do think there is more to the story than was reported.

I was thinking the same thing. My 2015 and 2018 cars have key FOBs that won't let you lock the keys in the car. My husband's 2009 (?) car - I am not sure how you would lovk it without the key FOB. I don't think you can push down the lock and hold the handle like you could in the 90's. I think my 2003 was the same way. I can't quite recall. I guess there are insurance policies that don't have full glass coverage? I thought that was standard now, but I live in a different world than someone who is worried about a $50 charge for a locksmith or whatever.
