LeBron James reacts to Lori Loughlin selecting prison of her choiceLebron James has weighed in on actress Lori Loughlin getting to choose the prison where she will serve her two-month sentence for her role in the college admissions scandal. The Los Angeles Lakers star took to Instagram Friday (Sept. 18) to share a screengrab of a Vanity Fair article about the latest update in Loughlin’s legal case. “I’m laughing cause sometimes you have to, just to stop from crying! Don’t make no damn sense to me. We just want the same treatment if committed of [the] same crime that’s all,” James wrote. He went on to say, “We’ll just keep pushing forward and not expecting the handouts! STRONG, BLACK & POWERFUL! link

There were posts going around on FB comparing Lori Laughlin’s sentencing to a homeless Black woman who was sentenced to 5 years in prison for using someone else’s address to enroll her child in school. I’ve forgotten the Black woman’s name and what city this happened in. This was before she was allowed to choose where she would serve her little 2 month sentence.

A lot of unequal treatment out there.

It has happened several times over the years since I moved to Memphis of Memphis women stating they lived in Olive Branch/Desoto County, Mississippi registering their child in the Olive Branch school system even though they all lived in Memphis. The women were caught by authorities but I am not sure they were charged with a crime. Just their kid(s) taken out of Mississippi schools.

Tenn, your link puts me to your OP. Fixed. I read the link and I disagree a little bit. It doesn't sound abut white, it sounds about rich white. Rules are different for rich people.

I have a coworker that wanted her child to go to a certain high school, so she sold her house that she loved, and bought one in the district where she wanted her child to go to school. Unfortunately, the lady I mentioned earlier didn’t have a home or address at all, but she wanted her child to go to school. So she used someone else’s address. And went to prison for it.

Here's a white 21 year old guy sentenced to 12 months home confinement. I have no idea if his parents are rich. Memphis federal judge kicked off case for not sending man convicted of child porn to prisonMEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis federal court judge has been kicked of a child pornography case after refusing to send the defendant to prison and giving him a light sentence. According to court records, Dane Schrank visited the "dark web" and downloaded nearly 1,000 images of babies and toddlers being forcibly and violently penetrated. Schrank confessed and pled guilty to possession of child pornography. The sentencing guidelines called for a sentence of 97 to 120 months in prison. Judge Sheryl Lipman sentenced Schrank to 12 months home confinement, ignoring the sentencing guidelines, not once, but twice. The 12-month home confinement sentence was appealed to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. In the first 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling, judges found the light sentence was unreasonable and remanded the case back to Lipman's court for resentencing. Lipman ignored the sentencing guidelines again, and sentenced Schrank for the second time to 12 months home confinement. The 6th Circuit once again vacated the sentence and sent it back to the lower court for resentencing, but this time ordered the case reassigned to a different judge. link

Tenn, that one sounds more like a judge who likes child porn himself than a rich kid. Unless of course he got a bribe to rule that way.
