I ordered a new blood pressure cuff after a slight heart problem a week ago. The one I chose is the same brand as my neighbor has so I looked for that one, found one with really good reviews on Amazon.
It arrived today, total cost was $88.50.
I opened the box, took out the papers and the machine. Put the batteries in it and wondered where the cuff was.....well, it wasn't......no where to be found. What I did find in the box was a receipt to some guy in California when he ordered that machine from Amazon in 2017. After talking to the mfg. of the machine, I was told it was made in 2015 and was not mfg. anymore and they had no responsibility with Amazon. There was another middle man, but obviously it was originally sold by Amazon and then returned.....and I was the lucky one that got the returned blood pressure cuff with only some of the parts.
I tried to return it to Amazon, told I had to go through the seller (not the mfg). No, I don't have to go through the seller, I called my credit card Co. and disputed the purchase.
I'm just about finished with Amazon.

You did not purchase directly from Amazon. You purchased from a 3rd party selling on Amazon. When you do that, you have to go through the 3rd party for problems.

I'm sorry that happened. It sucks. Amazon stopped being my "1st choice, go to place" about 3 years ago.
I had had enough 'drama' with 3rd party purchases on Amazon (sometimes I wasn't totally aware that I was buying from a 3rd party). I also had drama with what I thought was a purchase from WalMart - but it was from a 3rd party selling on their website.
I've found shopping online to be getting complicated especially when what I want is coming from a 3rd party vendor advertising on a national name's website. 1.) I have to choose from a variety of products - because a search might not have gotten me to the exact thing I was looking for - it gave me things "like" what I wanted OR to find a price I like.
2.) Once I've found what I'm looking for - I have to review/check WHO is selling and shipping it to me.
Shopping online is getting to be as time consuming as running around from store to store looking for what you want.
I guess I'm not buying the same kind of stuff that people who use Amazon as one stop shopping are buying.

FWIW: I think a lot of people have drama with Amazon purchases - but they don't say anything about it in public. They don't want to be the one to point out the Emperor's New Clothes aren't there.

I don't like shopping online because it is so much harder to see why you're getting, and it does seem to take longer to find what you're looking for. However, when I had a problem with a delivery of a used book, I had to contact the seller first, and then when the couple days had passed, I was quickly refunded my money from Amazon. This seller had been getting bad reviews, so it wasn't a total surprise. Dealing with it wasn't too bad, and I hate doing that kind of stuff.

Thanks Chiv...I'll pass for now..I should have followed my original thoughts which was go in person to Walgreens or Walmart when I could buy it in person and if something was wrong I could take it back.
Lesson learned!

Always order rhings that say "free returns". If it does, you can just take it to Kohl's and return it. I've ordered from Amazon a ton and never had a problem. There have been clothes that didn't fit, but I've just returned them and bought the correct size.

I once left a bad review for a 3rd party seller. That got their attention immediately and we negotiated a solution to the problem.
I shop a lot from Amazon. Don't have a lot of choices here. I'd say 95% of my purchases have no problems. For the few that do, I deal with Amazon or the 3rd party seller. It's gets resolved. For Amazon, I have never had to file a credit card dispute.
The 3rd party seller is wrong in your case. Leave an appropriate review so others know what happened.
I am another one who reads reviews both on the product and the shipping.
Amazon is not perfect but it's better for me than driving 90 minutes to shop--which I won't do know in a store.

BG, after a similar problem, I now try to avoid third-party sellers and only buy directly from Amazon. When it happened to me I hadn't even realized I was using a third party, but now I check. Sorry this happened to you.

I check for third party sellers and check reviews on items. They aren't perfect but it helps me out a lot. I have a few addresses saved in my address book for people I send stuff to frequently like my grandma. She's been trained that Amazon will have it on her doorstep in 2 days.
There are not a ton of shopping options around here.

I guess there are 3rd party sellers, but buying then returning and then letting someone buy it again seems a little extreme. In fact, there is enough blame (including me I guess for not paying attention) to go around.Ordering from Walmart would have been better as I could have returned it.

Now some how it was resold by the original company to Amazon and Amazon sold it to me. In turn, I called the credit card company and filed a dispute. Are you sure you brought it from Amazon and not thru Amazon? Because I've NEVER had a problem returning anything to Amazon that was sold by them no matter if it was missing something or not correct or hell even if I didn't want it anymore by the time it showed up. So it seems odd that if it was sold by Amazon that they wouldn't help out. Amazon does very little vetting of their 3rd party sellers - it's similar to sellers on eBay. If they have a ton of problems with a seller they'll get rid of them just to get rid of their headache, but otherwise they don't consider it their problem as they're not sanctioning the seller by having them on their website. If it doesn't get Prime shipping I pretty much don't buy it from Amazon because I don't want to figure out if it's 3rd party or not (it's been long enough that I'm not sure if there's any non-Prime stuff that is Amazon). If it's not sold by Amazon it's similar to buying on eBay - there's a chance Amazon might help you but it's most likely you'll have to deal with the seller directly I filter to Prime only when shopping on Amazon. On Walmart I go down to sold buy and filter to Walmart only. On Target I filter to sold by Target only. There's probably other sites that do that, but those are the only 3 I regularly use that's not me buying direct from manufacturer.

Yes, it clearly says Amazon, just as the order from 2017 when the guy in Calif. bought it and then returned it to Amazon. I really don't think "the 3rd seller" had anything to do with it.....sells faulty heart med necessities, doesn't pull it off the floor since the thing was 5 years old and out of being considered to be new. Even if either of them offer to return it and give me a new one, I don't want one from these companies....they already proved you can't trust them.

We just had this happen with a trash can slider to put into a cabinet. The box was broken up and taped to the hilt. The third party was dragging their feet on responding. Within 24 hours of me complaining about them and giving them 1 star, they responded to me and refunded my money. Don't hesitate to give them a bad rating. That's one thing that is helpful to anyone else thinking of buying from them.

I always filter for Amazon Prime and always read the reviews . The only problems I’ve had lately are a couple of delays in shipping , no big , a day or two . Any other problems I’ve had I’ve just gotten on chat and been helped right away .
Sorry you are are having issues with them .

$88 sounds like a lot of money to me. I bought mine about a year ago at CVS for $30. They are around $60 now.
I wouldn't be surprised if the seller disputes your chargeback. I've never had a problem getting refunds via the sellers/Amazon whenever I've had issues.

I just went to the Amazon website to take another look at what I purchased.....it now states:
Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.
I just wrote a scathing review....if nothing else it made me feel better. So, since it's not available...now what happens, they can't replace it either can they?

Shopping online is getting to be as time consuming as running around from store to store looking for what you want. I agree. I hate the search engines that show you results that skip one of your criteria. I frequently look for "(Item) Made in USA" and get results from vendors who have the item but say nothing about where it was made. I avoid Amazon whenever possible- they've pretty much taken over the world and I don't want to help them. Wal-Mart is mostly Made in China, anyway. I really prefer to buy from local brick-and-mortar or from the manufacturers themselves. I also trust Costco. Unfortunately the selection in brick-and-mortar stores seems to be getting worse. When the case to my 4-year old iPhone broke there were no local places that sold them- they just had a few thousand cases for the last 2 iPhone models. Radio Shack used to be handy for miscellaneous electronic widgets but they're gone. Same with things you could get from camera shops. Sometimes the only option is on-line.

No, when I attempted to, I was directed to contact the seller and only then could I move forward ( I guess). At that point, since I've never had this problem I decided to file a dispute with my CC
I have discovered recently I can get quicker action if I do that.

Why didn't you contact the seller? I've never had a problem getting a refund from sellers. If there's ever a problem with them, contact Amazon. They are always quick to issue refunds, when needed.

I guess you already answered my question why you didn't contact the seller.
I wouldn't expect them to try to exchange it, even if they aren't sold out. I've always gotten refunds. Frequently, they don't even ask me to send the item back.

I didn't contact them because I didn't know what to do.......I've never experienced problems like from from Amazon etc. It is what it is.....I've boxed it up best I could, and made copies of my invoice and that of the guy in Calif. for proof of what they did. Beyond that, I'll wait and see what happens.
And I"m happy for you that you've never had a problem, sometimes of Grandmothers aren't that fortunate. Me...I've learned a lesson, and worst case I'll throw this thing in trash pick up day and drive to Walgreens or Walmart to buy one in person.

Sorry you are having these issues lately. Hundreds of Amazon purchases in the last 5 years, and I have only received 2 items that were incorrect. 1 was a Yeti cup that was not the color that I ordered and the other was damaged in shipment. Easy refunds, and got to keep the items. I have returned several items that did not fit the function that I wanted them for, and those returns were super easy too. I also avoid 3rd party sellers, and go through reviews with a fine tooth comb. Other than groceries, probably 90% of my shopping is online - not many options around here. Though I recently changed phones and my email started linking to my phone calendar, and when I went checking for a certain date last month I was slightly horrified to see that 11 days had been marked "Amazon package delivery".

Amazon has a program called "Fulfilled by Amazon" that's often referred to as FBA. The way FBA works is I can find boxes of Item A on sale in my area for $1. They sell on Amazon for $5. (Item A can be ANYTHING in the world - medical supplies, OTC meds, food, household items, tools, etc....) I take my Item A's, package them in Amazon's required way, and mail them in bulk to Amazon. Amazon then sells those items, ships them out of their warehouse, and I get paid my part of the sale. There are millions of items sold that are FBA and not items Amazon sources themselves. Some of these items are things sold as overstock, shelf pulls, returns people buy elsewhere for pennies on the dollar and ship to Amazon. You will known an item is FBA when it says "sold by X, fulfilled by Amazon" under the "buy now" button. These are all items bought elsewhere and sent to Amazon to sell. Often, they are expired or otherwise have issues and the manufacturers and Amazon won't stand behind them. Some FBA items ship with Prime. So, it's vital to see who the "seller" is and who the shipper is. If you stick to items sold by Amazon, as in the left below, you will have a lot fewer if any problems.

BG, you have every right to be annoyed by this and to expect to receive what you paid for. Please don't feel attacked--I think everyone here is trying to help you navigate these issues in the future. Like mentioned, even walmart and target (and sears) have these 3rd party vendors linked to their websites, so it's good to know exactly what to look for/avoid.

Thanks Lizard Queen. What irritates me the most is when people say " you need to do this etc".......I don't NEED to do anything, I'm not the one who caused the problem....that why my first option was the credit card....they get things done. I am however very disappointed in the company that is the 3rd party.....guess the really thought I wouldn't notice ? And I'm super happy I called the Mfg who gave me the best info as to when it was made, that model isn't made any more..... I'll see what happens.

For future reference - here's an example of an item on Amazon that's 3rd party. www.amazon.com/Stylish-Handmade-facemasks-washable-reusable/dp/B0892SMSHM/ref=sr_1_41?dchild=1&keywords=masks&qid=1599752474&sr=8-41Notice how over by the price it says "Shipped and sold by Hope whatever whatever"? That means that Amazon is pretty much just letting them use their website to sell stuff. The stuff sold by Amazon doesn't have that - it usually just mentions free shipping with Prime, or free returns, or free shipping over $X.
