I got my regular flu shot yesterday at CVS. The lady in front of me asked for the senior shot, and they did not have it. Tennesseer I got my first Shingrix shot a couple of weeks ago. My arm was a tiny bit sore, but nothing to really complain about. I get my second the end of October, and am hoping for the same!

Mine was rescheduled from last Sunday to Oct. 4 because they did not have the senior does in. I hope they are keeping doses for those of us who scheduled the same day scheduling became available.

We’re getting senior flu shots at doctor on Tuesday, the higher dose were just received yesterday
Until I was reading here I didn’t know 2 shingle shots were needed. I got one a few years ago at Walgreens. I’ll ask doctor when I get flu shot. Walgreens is very easy don’t need appointment but then your doctor doesn’t have the record. I got the first pneumonia at Walgreens and asked for second newer last doctors visit. Since not in my records couldn’t get the second without getting first. So I was given the first pneumonia then can get the second

I have always waited until October, as those shots "wear off". This year we are so locked down and careful, I am thinking that getting it now would "waste" the good immunity. We might all be running around in February licking each others eyeballs, and that is when I want to be immune.
It sound like my kids will be back in school in late October. That seems like a good deadline for me. But right now they are pushing shots everywhere. Drug store, grocery store, the physical therapy clinic near our house, billboards, signage - it feels like I should get it now while everyone is doing it. Decisions....

This thread made me glad I won't ever have to get the shingles vaccine. I've never had chicken pox.
I don't think I will get the flu shot this year. Wearing a mask all the time should reduce risk, and I'm very rarely ever around people.

If your doctor won't accept that as proof of vaccination, I think he/she has a nice racket going.

Flu is more hard surface transfered than Covid - so make sure you wash your hands in addition to wearing the mask. I think....

You could get varicella pneumonia, respiratory failure, or encephalitis, and possibly die. So you should be vaccinated. It is more likely you had a mild case. An antibody test would show if you did, and if so, you should get the shingles vaccine. Your statement on the flu vaccine is flat out wrong

I received my second dose of shingles shot on Thursday afternoon at Walmart...that was in the left arm. I received the senior flu shot in the right arm. With my 1st shingles shot I had a sore arm for a few days, this time I did have some side affects of headache, & nausea for 2 days. Oh well it was worth it.

(My whole body broke out in hives, I had trouble breathing, and had to go to the ER.) I was tested and told I have not had chicken pox and the one shot of the vaccine did not make me immune. They told me at the time it wasn't safe for me to continue with the immunization series. The one time I was forced by my employer to have the flu shot I also had a very bad reaction and was sick for weeks. I'll pass on both. Thanks.

How are you any different than someone who refuses a covid vaccine? Having multiple negative reactions to vaccines is a pretty good reason to chose not to get vaccinated. Hives are an acute allergic reaction, and I would not give another one of those. The overwhelming majority of so called reactions to the flu vaccine are unrelated. But people will refuse even if we try to discuss this. This is the reason that less than 50% of people take it, and will be the reason that not enough people will be vaccinated, and why this will not be over quickly even with an adequate supply of the vaccine

I'm 53 and have had one flu vaccine. I don't plan on getting another one.
I won't/was advised by a physician not to attempt the chicken pox vaccine again. I was pretty paranoid when my kids were little about getting sick as an adult, but they were vaccinated.
When I worked for the charter school, the parents had a "chicken pox party" and exposed all the kids to a couple who were sick. I was paranoid I would get it, but thankfully, most kept their kids away because one of the teachers was pregnant.
I won't take a magic Trump vaccine for COVID. If they come up with a proven and effective one, I will take it. I never said I wouldn't. I'm high risk for COVID but not interested in being a scientific guinea pig or a pawn in a political game.
It's been reported it will take 2 years to vaccinate the US anyway.
Interestingly, though the US tax payers are paying for the development of the vaccine, the manufacturer the other day claimed they could charge whatever they want for it. I'd be more concerned about that. We all saw the cost of Hep C treatment when it came out...

DH and I took a flu shot this week. I had never had one and DH had only ever had one before. We had no problems afterward, not even a sore arm after. We changed our minds about the flu shot when it was reported that Covid symptoms were reduced in people who had had a flu shot.
DH was in a car accident last year and had a chest tube for two weeks. He is my high risk husband!
