If her seat becomes vacant tomorrow, it can't be filled until after the election, and if there is a new president, that president should be the one to appoint. Not according to Mitch McConnell! We'll see.

Not according to Mitch McConnell! which Mitch McConnell? 2016 or 2020? 2020 McConnell will fill that seat if he has to have hearings for 72 hours straight through the day and night to get it done. He is a huge danger to the constitution and a big reason our country is broken. Thanks Kentucky.

Anybody who believed such stupid sh** is too stupid to be allowed to vote. Neither would have taken the job even if she wanted them to. There are times I really wish we had to pass an intelligence and common sense test to be allowed to vote. We have to prove we are qualified to drive. Voting is more important than that. My parents also want an intelligence test to be allowed to vote, but they are convinced it will block out most of the democrats. If Trump approval ratings are to be believed, it would actually knock out 90% of Republicans. The inability to either see or acknowledge the incredible damage being wrought on this country by this president is startling.

Not only for his stance on the 2nd Amendment, my main reason for voting for Trump in 2016, was his position on judge appointments.
I voted for him to keep Hillary away from the Supreme Court .......... and in the same circumstances would do it again This has got to be the most ridiculous excuse to vote for Trump I have ever heard. If Hillary was President, exactly HOW could she also be a Supreme Court justice? President is a full time job, so is a SC judge. The day still has 24 hours. These rationalizations are crazy! It’s as good as your excuse that she would seat her disbarred husband on it.

I think the contention is that it would keep Hillary Clinton away from nominating Supreme Court justices because she would have put Bill and Obama on there. Still ridiculously stupid, of course, but not that Hillary would have been a Supreme Court Justice while president.

She would have made the A word into a constitutional law and forced you to share a bathroom with transpeople by putting judges on there that agreed with her. That's only OK if it's a conservative agenda. Then stock the courts with all the biased judges you want. Still waiting for someone to tell me exactly what was wrong with Merrick outside if the fact a black guy nominated him for office.

Considering that NONE of these people have never been a judge, why exactly would they tap a person with utterly no experience with being a judge for the highest court in the land.
Whoops! I guess the rationalization is consistent when she voted for someone who has had several bankruptcies (so much for being a fiscal conservative) and absolutely NO experience or concern in looking out for anyone other than himself.

The real question is why they would pick someone in their 70's. Gotta find someone 40-ish so they can spend 4 or 5 decades making sure the country tilts the right way. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh are like 52 and 54 or something. They got 30+ years in them. Bill is 74, and he has already had a heart attack. Lucky if he's got another good 10 in him. Why risk turning that seat so soon? I'm surprised the Republicans didn't convince Thomas he wants to retire, to bring the age of the conservatives down even further.

www.supremecourt.gov/about/faq_general.aspx"The Constitution does not specify qualifications for Justices such as age, education, profession, or native-born citizenship. A Justice does not have to be a lawyer or a law school graduate, but all Justices have been trained in the law." it’s as good as your excuse that she would seat her disbarred husband on it.
There are NO Constitutional requirements to be a Supreme Court Judge. Just having studied law. What a feather in the cap of hubby Bill to retire as a SC judge ......... also a feather in the cap of Obama. No thanks

What is it with conservatives that makes them so willing and even happy to continually broadcast their ignorance and belief in ridiculous and inane theories? I will never understand that. I have come across some thoughtful conservatives on occasion, but damn, they are rare!

Good to know there was zero constitutional reason he had to be appointed. Still waiting to hear why Garland was unqualified.

Have you ever heard him say anything about this? He has no need to work. He has retired from the presidency and has a nice pension, that is supplemented with speaking fees, WHEN HE WANTS TO WORK. Why do you think that he would want to take a job that would take up all his retirement time, and pay him less than he is currently making? For what purpose? This makes absolutely NO sense. You can’t pretzel it to make sense in anything but your own brain as it is totally illogical.

Your belief is one of the most effective anti-Hillary campaign tools ever. I'm not sure why it works on you or others, because logically a fish riding a bicycle makes infinitely more sense. Its a deep seated emotional blindness that has been fanned so long its almost Pavlovian. Grrrr conservative propaganda. While you think it would be a feather in their caps for these two former Presidents, they disagree with you and have no interest in the job. Fun facts though - Associate Justice James F. Byrnes, whose short tenure lasted from June 1941 to October 1942, was the last Justice without a law degree to be appointed; Stanley Forman Reed, who served on the Court from 1938 to 1957, was the last sitting Justice from such a background. William Howard Taft, the 27th president of the United States, fulfilled a lifelong dream when he was appointed chief justice of the Supreme Court, becoming the only person to have served as both a U.S. chief justice and president.

I wonder if we can scare swing voters with conservative type propaganda?
If Trump is re-elected he's going to appoint Eric Trump to the Supreme Court!
If Trump is re-elected he plans to follow in Jerry Falwell's footsteps. I'm not sure we can hope he won't televise it.

For the record (not that anyone asked), I think Garland would have made a good justice. Maybe he still will?

For the record (not that anyone asked), I think Garland would have made a good justice. Maybe he still will? Apparently he was going to reign down evil on the earth or something because there must have been a reason why he wasn't put on the bench in spite of his qualifications. It couldn't possibly be because was nominated by a black guy and the rich which Kentucky senator wanted to make sure the man knew his place before he left office. Couldn't possibly be that Garland must have been a sinister deep state liberal plant. Mitch McConnell saved us all! Only accused rapist Brett Kavanaugh could save the Supreme Court from turning into a hive of scum and villany.

But I'd be OK with Obama, he was a professor of consititutional law, more than can be said for several of Trump's other judicial appointments.

The inability to either see or acknowledge the incredible damage being wrought on this country by this president is startling. I guess the apology tour is over when Obama left office ? Haven't forgotten... Quote; If mismanaging an economic recovery were an Olympic event, President Obama would be standing on the middle platform right now, accepting the gold medal.
Deep recessions are supposed to be followed by strong recoveries, but, under Obama, the worst recession since the 1930s has been followed by the slowest economic recovery in the history of the republic. In a very real sense, there has been no recovery at all—things are still getting worse.www.forbes.com/sites/louiswoodhill/2012/08/01/obama-wins-the-gold-for-worst-economic-recovery-ever/

That's just more stereotyping. Not even believable stereotyping. More of a story to fit the situation, in the trends of voting habits of different age groups.

Well, we know Trump could vote....person, woman, man, camera, tv. He can also find the elephant. The bar is low.
