My package was to be delivered today buy USPS (oh joy). I now have a notice from the post office they tried to deliver it.......really? ! 5:45 PM. just checked the mail box again and nothing is there. We have locked boxes and we are only ones who have a key to each one.
There were 3 semi medications in that box.....I've never had this happen before, and there is nothing about going to PO in the morning (which Im not going to do anyway.

Oh lucky me....I just received an email from Amazon telling my the USPS ran into an issue trying to deliver my package and they will try again. If the UPSP ever did anything right....maybe they do someplace, but not where I live.

Amazon wouldn’t deliver to you without them. Or it would cost you significantly more if they did. And take longer.

DT is doing his best to cripple the post office. We all need to vote and get his sorry arse out of the WH.

I have come to believe those "tried to deliver" messages are simply code for something else. The carrier might have gotten behind on his/her route and would have had to work overtime to complete deliveries (overtime is being curtailed in some areas). He/she might simply have missed the package when delivering mail to your area and didn't have time to circle back and deliver it. Other scenarios come to mind, for which "tried to deliver" appears to be the general cover term, none of which involves the actual loss of your package. Your package will probably arrive tomorrow or the next day. Otherwise, if it's not delivered, let Amazon know and let them deal with it.

IME, Amazon will do nothing about USPS. I have contacted them several times about USPS issues, sometimes I get a credit, but mostly they say there is nothing they can do. USPS would ALWAYS hold my packages for pick-up, and they have been on reduced hours here for several years. Open 10am-1pm & 2pm-5pm - I would have to take a day off of work to make those hours. I called the post office several times to complain, and eventually escalated it to district postmaster. Local office told them that it was deemed dangerous for the carrier to back out of my driveway. I responded with "The county school buses back in and out of the driveway directly across from mine 4 times a day, so it cannot be that dangerous.". My packages started landing on my front porch shortly thereafter.

When looking at the tracking last night, the issue had to be that the package never got put on the truck. The one I picked up for my neighbor was on the truck and delivered though. I'm not doing a darn thing about all this. Deliver this package to me or give me my money back and I'll try it again.
Just read the rest of the "issue"....at 5:45 PM yesterday my driveway was not accessible. Hmmm....my car in 2 car garage, and not even a leaf on the 2 car driveway. In fact, I had just blown the leaves off the front porch and was outside.

I agree with dannylion. They choose a code to cover the fact that something went wrong. Box didn't get on truck, carrier out of time and overtime not authorized or whatever the issue was.

I just had this happen with a package i sent to my sister. Supposed to be delivered Monday. At 7pm got the tracking notice that USPS couldn't deliver b/c there was an obstruction in the driveway/by the front door. What? That's not even a thing where she lives. But it showed up yesterday (so only 1 day late) around 2pm.
I firmly believe that the USPS driver just decided they were done for the day/the post office said come back at a certain time/something and that's just the random code they put in. I'll also add that when they did finally deliver it, they didn't bother to knock on the door (as my sister was home at the time) but she saw the truck driving away, so she went out to check. So just a heads up, in case you are home waiting for it, you may want to check periodically.

I bet they choose those codes on things with guaranteed delivery times. They don't want to have to refund the shipper.

I don't think they just decide they are done for today. They cannot work overtime to get all the mail delivered because that is what the Postmaster General says.
Postal carriers are extremely upset about the "efficiency measures" the Postmaster General has implemented as they can no longer deliver the mail timely.

It's been happening for years, it's just much, much worse now.
A few years ago, when I was still taking care of mom and home every afternoon, I got a sticker on my door saying I wasn't home when they tried to deliver my package-- but I was! I had to go downtown to pick it up, which pissed me off.

I have not had that problem in my small town but I am on a rural route. I do get upset with them for not knocking when they leave packages.
I asked once at the post office if I could pick up packages and was told no because I am on a rural route.

I suspect that this is going to be the new norm with the changes being made to the PO. I heard yesterday that if all packages do not get loaded onto the truck at a certain time, they get left behind because ALL drivers have to leave at the same time.
It is going to get worse....much worse, courtesy of the new head guy.

Where I live now, unless a package is very, very heavy, Amazon dumps it on the USPS and they don't do home delivery. It's a royal pain.
The little post office gets a huge delivery every day that looks like an entire UPS truck worth of packages. It often takes them all morning just to scan them in.
My last house was in the middle of BFE and they would deliver packages there most of the time via UPS.
In the last 2 months, I have had 2 orders on Amazon come up "undeliverable" with no explanation. Both times I had to contact customer service to get the credit on my CC I was due.
Harbor Freight, Lowes, and Home Depot won't deliver here at all, I assume because of the high shipping costs to out-of-the-way locations.
EBay issued a notice to all their sellers last week to avoid using the USPS if possible due to expected long delays in delivery. I don't even know how that's possible, because if you aren't a large seller with a corporate UPS/FedEX account, both of those methods of shipping aren't reasonably priced at all.

LifePart....that is what they do here: all the packages for from the base place, FedEX UPS city to city etc. and at the very end they it off on USPS. It usually adds an additional 2-4 days to transport.

I had two packages delivered today by UPS early. They were coming to deliver a third package that was just UPS so they delivered instead of transferring to the post office.

I'm lucky that unless an Amazon package needs to come by UPS or Fed Ex, they are delivered by Amazon. Sometimes they are here at 7am, sometimes 9pm.
The USPS, on the other hand, routinely fails to deliver and uses bogus excuses for why they couldn't. And I'm almost certain my mail lady refuses to work if it rains.

OK, so what do I do?? I left a note on my mail box telling whoever the dumb-ass is to leave my package that he didn't leave last year., and that my driveway was not blocked. Piss him off? I don't care.
So, if it doesn't get to my house today sometime, how do I get my money back of $18+?? I can order the same thing from WMT and I just may start doing that.

All my packages running through usps have been quite delayed. It's almost been a week since the last update on my package. Yet the last update said it's in my town. Very annoying

I had a recent package get delivered by UPS instead of usps without getting another package at the same time (maybe it was grouped with others in my complex). I'm thinking they might be choosing to deliver some if the cost is minimal to avoid people calling and yelling about show packages.

It isn't just packages. We've been noticing here that we no longer get mailed delivered 6 days a week. We're down to 5 days a week. With the dismantling of sorting machinery in a lot of communities, it's going to be a lot worse before it gets better again. Can you even imagine what deliveries around Christmastime will be like?

I got the same story yesterday about 5:30 PM...."couldn't deliver as driveway in inaccessible." I even left a post it note on the my tiny mail box and it wasn't touched. I've decided I have 2 options today: let this ride 1 more day (today) or call my credit card company and file a complaint. I've had enough with so many of these companies wanting my credit card but fail to follow through with the purchase.
Walmart has the same product, the last time I ordered from them their service was terrific.

I have found any written note I have left the mail carrier does not get read. It's still there when I get my mail.
I have informed daily digest so I do know what mail I am receiving each day. If it's all junk, I do not bring in the mail (box is across the street).
I would call the Postmaster and see what they say. I know I live in a small town, but they have been very helpful when I have called them.
I think your issue is with the Postmaster General's directives on overtime, etc. It has totally screwed up mail delivery.
That is not the fault of Amazon.

I don't care who is at fault....and the last time I returned a package to QVC, I even had the receipt from the PO. It was delivered to the PO on the 10th of July. According to QVC, the PO didn't ship it out until July 29th. This was for a $400 hand bag and I had to pay off the credit card only to discover it was still sitting in the PO. Our local PO is pathetic. It seems the only things that do get delivered are the ones that the carrier deems to be I'mportant. Next up is 2 meds that have been sent from the VA in Dublin Ga.

I'd call the local post office. Its August so there are lots of carriers doing routes that are not theirs because of vacations.

Went to the Post Office and rang that little bell for the post master......so. according to him it was sent to the wrong post office in another town (twice). So, they have never had the package. Fast forward: I guess someone is going to do do something and they should have it tomorrow...then if they don't and don't deliver it to me tomorrow, it means they never had it.
Does any of these make sense? Therefore now that someone has actually complained, I might have it today...and if not tomorrow, and if not tomorrow, I'll call my credit card company and stop the credit card and let Amazon fight it out, I'm done.

It sounds like you should have your package tomorrow (I was going to suggest that they were probably trying to deliver to the wrong house), but to answer your question about what you do with Amazon if you do not get a package delivered:
When you are signed into your account, touch the three lines at the top of the screen so you get the drop down box, then under the list, choose your orders.
your recent order should be displayed, chose the one you have an issue with.
there is a drop down box of reasons why you are returning the item. I would choose missing or defective parts. Then the next screen gives you a box to type in an explanation.
I once ordered a bunch of stuff, and it all came separately. One item we got an envelope with nothing in it, but it appeared the adhesive on the envelope was defective and it had never been sealed. I explained that in my comment, and the item was replaced, with no issues.
USPS regular carrier does not deliver packages to DH's office if he is not there, but I think some substitute carriers will just leave a package on the doorstep. I once had a "delivered" package not arrive. I contacted them and explained that we did not have it, and were assuming it was stolen. It was replaced. That was from Jockey. DH has also arrived at the office on a Monday to find a package there waiting for him. It is frustrating that they don't know to hold until the business is open, but we deal.

So my work shipped me another new replacement laptop. Bad WiFi card in the current one, a known issue with this batch of HPs. It was shipped next day air early with UPS. I've been home all morning. At 9am I check the tracking and it says I wasn't available to sign. Well they didn't bother to ring the doorbell. I yank the slip off the door and go about my business. I got an email that delivery would be attempted again on Friday. Fine I'll be sitting in the living room waiting since I'm off.
At 11am there's a knock at the door with my laptop. I went back into the detailed tracking and it's a mess I can't even follow. Basically it left DC, went up to Philly, came back to BWI then over for delivery. And in between BWI at 6am and to the delivery office, there's something about a late flight from Louisville at 7am and not making the commitment time.
Now I'm thinking the flight caused the truck to be late and that whoever stuck that on my door at 8am didn't even have the laptop. And that they were covering their butt to avoid the refund of guaranteed service.
