Interesting. President Trump abruptly departed the briefing room on Monday moments after starting his coronavirus briefing.
In the middle of a sentence, a Secret Service agent whispered something to the President before he departed the room.
"Sir, we’re just going to have to step outside," the agent can be heard saying.
"Excuse me?" Trump asked.
"Step outside," the agent said.
"Oh," Trump said before departing the room.
CNN reporters at the White House report the complex has been locked down.

No, we don't walk away. But when we're holding on to something precious, we run.

I don't remember hearing about stuff like this with other Presidents. I'm sure it happened though, although maybe not during press briefings so we weren't informed?

Isn't that the conundrum? CNN reports "fake" news... so if it did report this it didn't actually happen? But since it didn't report it - does it mean it did happen??
FWIW: I didn't see any head lines on the news media I read about this... I saw it mentioned here and in passing from a person (phone call) - I have to admit my first thought was "why is trump manufacturing an "attack on his life!" - what is he distracting from now? "
I would think with so very many people with cameras on their phones and all the surveillance cameras around the internet would have been flooded with clips and stills and whatnot.... Maybe I missed that...

From your link: "August 10, 2020 — A person, yet to be identified, was shot by an unidentified person near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, a few blocks away from the White House. The President was holding a press briefing on the Coronavirus pandemic and was temporarily escorted from the briefing room by the Secret Service.[68][69]" So the guy was not on White House grounds. And according to news sources was not armed (though he told the officer who shot him he was).

For a guy who said he would enter a school unarmed during an active school shootings event to take down the shooter, I was surprised trump didn't state upon return to his press conference he went outside and 'wrastled' the bad guy down.

News reports are not clear at all why the officer who shot the guy was hospitalized too. The officer was not shot because there was no firearm on the other guy.

President Trump and members of the Secret Service were commended for their calm response to the shooting that took place near the White House during a press briefing. Several members of the press and other political commentators noted that Trump calmly left the briefing room on Monday while the Secret Service responded to the shooting. They praised his decision to return and continue on with his remarks. "Credit where it is due. @realdonaldtrump is bringing calm to the turmoil," wrote Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Debra Saunders. Several others shared similar remarks praising his response and acknowledging how he dove back into his remarks about the stock market's reaction to his recent executive actions. www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/bringing-calm-to-the-turmoil-trump-and-secret-service-lauded-for-response-to-shooting-near-white-house

He sounds like a random nut (or to be politically correct- a random disturbed person.) He walked to the place where there were armed officers, got their attention, announced he had a weapon, pulled something out of his pocket and got into a shooter's stance. Maybe suicide? Maybe completely delusional as to what his weapon really was and what was going to happen? But it doesn't seem like a clever person who was executing a well thought out plan to assassinate someone.

As he shuffled out of the room like the old befuddled man he was at that time. Note: this was shown during the news and I did not change channels fast enough to avoid seeing him. But he DID appear befuddled when notified that he had to leave, and he DID shuffle out hunch backed. I did hear and see that myself

I watched House of Cards until Trump got elected and then I didn't need to see fake political drama. I don't think we should have any more Oval Office drama shows.

I thought their post 9/11 show, impromptu script, was one of the most brilliant pieces of television drama. It was out the the normal timeline of the show and hit some of the issues right on the head.

I tried, but I would watch the real news and then turn to West Wing, and just couldn't care about fictional politics.

Don’t forget Survivor starring Kiefer.😎 I did not forget it, because I have never heard of it. It is actually entitled Designated Survivor. In the United States, a designated survivor (or designated successor) is a named individual in the presidential line of succession, chosen to stay (at a secure and undisclosed location) away from events such as State of the Union addresses and presidential inaugurations.

That rings a bell. I guess I did forget. I probably consciously decided to not watch a show set in present day with a dystopic political environment. Guess why.....

Guess why.....Because deep down you think Trump is a brilliant leader, and is truly misrepresented by the media and the left, with endless hyperbole on some shallow idiosyncrasy's that don't mean anything ? (jma runs for cover)
