We have Ting, and are quite happy with them. Ting works well with how we use our cell phones.
With TMobile buying Sprint, and since Ting is owned by Sprint, we are wondering what TMobile is planning on doing with Ting. I would guess that things are not going to change for awhile, but we would like to have some alternatives.
I know a few on here have Ting, has anyone researched a Plan B?

I had Ting but switched to Xfinity mobile. If you have Comcast cable or internet service, it's worth a look. The service has been very reliable, and setup was quick and easy.

Ting was never owned by Sprint. It just contracted with them to use their towers.

I use Mint Mobile. It runs on the TMobile network. I prepay for a year, which works out to $15 per month for unlimited talk and text, and 3 gigs of fast data. The data is unlimited but the speed is slower after the first three gigs.

I have Verizon. I pay dearly for the service but it has never failed me no matter where I travel. Three dropped calls in over 10 years. I'm willing to pay to stay connected.

We have Ting. I heart Ting. No time to research Plan b.

They cut their contract with T-Mobile end of last year after hearing rumors of the merger with Sprint and are moving to be exclusive with Verizon. Monday Dish Network bought Ting. I'd worry more about that!

DH and I both have Verizon. We have spotty service where we live and Verizon is the most reliable.

We have AT&T and get excellent service. We’ve had great coverage except for a few areas with no cell towers and seldom have dropped calls. Yes, we pay a lot for it, but it’s worth it to us.

We are with Sprint. We get a corporate discount which offsets their Sh!tty service, and we got a sweatheart deal on new phones for DH and Me, so I just renewed with them in December. I am hoping the merger brings us better service.

Our data usage has been going up with Ting and now I'm often paying in the range of $60-$80/month for the 3 lines...plus Carrot uses a lot of minutes talking to his friends.

Another very happy Ting customer here, NOT looking forward to the possibility of having to switch if things go bad with them. I'd be more inclined to go with one of the "no-name" services like Mint- been burned too many times with the ever-increasing costs on cable/internet packages so I don't want to go with AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, etc. (or whatever is left after the latest mergers- didn't AT&T merge with Dish?).

Dish apparently wants to start their own line of mobile phone service and be a major player and took on Ting to get them up and going, but there are a lot of wary folks out there.

I liked Ting when we were using it, but we had the same issue; the longer we had the phones, the more our usage went up. At this point I have switched my phone, my husband's phone, and my parents' phone to Mint. If you want I can mail you a 1 week free trial sim card to see if the service is decent in your area. It was in the package that I got when I set up the phone for my parents.

Its in a credit card size, with perforations to punch out three different sizes.

Switched to Xfinity Mobile this year, they are on Verizon’s network at half the cost in my situation.

I looked at the coverage map and was first all excited because MN was mostly green, but there is a big no coverage area right by where I'm located on the WI side that would be an issue.

I believe you buy the starter kit for $5 and then if you decide to sign up they will take $5 off your first purchase.

I totally dig the once a year cell phone payment option with Mint.

It’s not to bad as long as we stay on the I5 corridor. Not much east of us. No Canadian service?
Ting does work in Canada, we pay a little more but still have access.

Close. They merged with Directv.

When we went to Quebec I bought some international time from Mint and I had phone service but the data didn't work. Supposedly the data will work if I set up my phone properly, but I did my best and couldn't figure out how to make the data work. I was very unhappy about the lack of data, I am reasonably intelligent and their process should have been simple enough for me to figure out.

Ting has some International Roaming capability and I've used it in India, Nepal and Bolivia but for me the cheapest and most seamless process was to buy a local SIM card, which I've done in Iceland and Europe. Getting a SIM card required major paperwork in India at the time and I never could find the place at the airport where you were supposed to be able to get one. I think the Ting rates were cheap enough in Bolivia that I didn't bother with a SIM card.

We use Ting in Canada, the rates are not horrible but both of us realize that they’re higher and don’t use it indiscriminately. When we were Europe and Turkey, it is was easy to buy a SIM card and phone plan on our way out of the airport. We really didn’t bother in South America as we weren’t on our own long enough to need one. Our 2 days in Chile, we hired a guide to take us to the vineyards one day and our 4 days in Argentina, 3 of them were in Iguazu on a tour.
