Trump said he may deliver convention speech from White House Trump said, "I will probably do mine live from the White House," adding "If for some reason somebody had difficulty with it, I could go some place else." I would say no problem, if you also allow the Democratic nominee to give an acceptance speech from the same location.

Why does he think the constitution doesn't apply to him?

Why does he think the constitution doesn't apply to him? I don't think there is a "constitutional" or even a legal issue here. It is a glaring example of disregarding traditional norms.

www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-trump-convention/trump-says-he-will-probably-give-republican-nomination-speech-from-white-house-idUSKCN2511T4This article has trump's quote from the OP and alittle further down this gem. I can't decide if he's performing a comedy skit or if he's serious... trump has brought the strategy for how celebrities handle the media to the White House - all smoke and mirrors. I'm guessing his supporters pretty much ignore everything reported by the general media..... after all Trump spent months and months tell us that everything reported was Fake and he's pretty much made sure that any time he releases any thing for general media consumption it's "comedy" or "parody" or something stupid. I guess the thought was to "hoodwink" the general public? Anyone who doesn't have access to the "real" news or the outlets that trump uses to provide actual information is just out of luck?? or just not someone who deserves to know? I'm wondering where they get their "news" about what the current Administration is doing... I assume they aren't just blindly hoping the Administration is doing stuff that's good for them?? I guess I should start reading newspapers from medium cities and smaller in Red States? (cause the big cities are Democratic and probably reporting "fake" news? Isn't that what Trump told America??)

And in that "saving money" theme...
It was announced back in June that trump would give his acceptance speech in Jacksonville, FL. I assume some planning and expenses have been incurred with the preparations to do it in Jacksonville... so making change now means money/planning time lost.
Who is running our country? It sure the heck isn't trump....

Political parties are private organizations which have established their own rules for the nomination process. So on one level, I think the convention delegates could simply vote to suspend the rules regarding binded delegates and free them to vote differently than they have been pledged to vote. I can't imagine it not resulting in an immediate lawsuit. Wouldn't want to try to predict how that would play out.

I don’t care where he does his acceptance speech but as far as slashing security costs can he stop visiting his golf resorts every damn weekend? I’m paying a shit ton of taxes for that.

Cost of his security? This from a guy who has spent over $100 million in government $ traveling to his own resorts...playing go;f his own resorts..having gov't pay top $ for his SS stay at his resorts...now worried about saving gov't $? I believe I saw Pelosi said to give speech from White House was a no, no..not sure why...possible politicizing from the white house is a no no...not sure

As long as Trump is POTUS the WH is his legal/temporary residence. And if the Dem nominee wants to make an acceptance speech from a temporary address, that's OK by me.

Hatch Act. President (and VP) are exempt. curious for your interpretation as to how this personal political benefit is an exemption? Employees are prohibited from ... They are not employees. §7322. Definitions
For the purpose of this subchapter—
(1) “employee” means any individual, other than the President and the Vice President, employed or holding office in—

link interesting, I found similar in some articles. they would need everyone involved in the production to be not a WH employee, then. I have to say, the way he speaks makes me cringe. not just the offensive content he spews, but just in general. for example - there is still a Hatch Act, even if it apparently doesn't apply. it doesn't just go away.

Maybe he should be allowed to do it from his living quarters. Only with people who are paid 100% from his campaign funds.

No use in arguing the rules or the law. Trump cares not for these, and no one will lift a finger to stop him.
