Trump cannot delay the election.  Only Congress can, and they won't.  The Constitution is clear about this.  He can do other things to try and screw with the election, though.

DOJ is going to determine whether trump can delay election? WTF? It's not up to DOJ or trump. Only Congress can change that, and even trump's posse isn't going to go along with that.

Makes me wonder if I should tweet a replay. The owner of the location I work at though is a Trump supporter.

 Delaying the election would be an embarrassment and forever proof of corruption in the current administration. While I expect fraud to be on the rise because of who is in office, I nevertheless trust the mail over other Trump sponsored options. Congressional elections occurred in 1918 during the last pandemic, President Trump, do you really propose to do less?

Article [XX] (Amendment 20 - Terms of President, Vice President, Members of Congress: Presidential Vacancy)

1: The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin.

2: The Congress shall assemble at least once in every year, and such meeting shall begin at noon on the 3d day of January, unless they shall by law appoint a different day. 

3: If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.

It clearly states the term shall end. It has a clear process for dealing with not having a qualified person to step in which weakens a claim that the incumbent would stay in office. It clearly indicates that filling a vacancy does not follow the standard line of succession. I don't know if there is currently in place a law passed by Congress for this situation.

It should also be noted that Congressional terms would expire earlier in January.  If no elections were held, that would mean no House and 35 less Senators (23 less Republicans  and 12 less Democrats). That would mean no sitting Speaker of the House.

Here is an idea:

Article II (Article 2 - Executive)Section 1

2: Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

Because one is used by republicans who support him, and the other is used by those damn liberal states. Haven't you gotten with the program yet.

Though in places like Florida, where a large number of elderly vote by absentee ballot, election officials are trying to thread the needle on this, so these voters do not mistrust the system. Just the trials and tribulations of republicans these days.

Mail in voting....like some states do now...every registered voter is sent a ballot.  It's up to them to fill it out & return it.  Some states have it pre-paid postage while others don't.  But as a registered voter, you don't have to do anything.


Absentee ballots are by request only.  That's the difference.  YOU as a registered voter have to request the ballot.  It isn't sent automatically.


For some reason DT & some others think that someone is going to print all the different ballots for every state that mails them so they can be filled in by anyone & mailed.  Do you all realize how many different ballots are printed for each state....think about it....local city elections, local county elections, state elections & national elections.  If there are 10 cities in one county and each city is having an election for local offices...that would be at least 10 different ballots in that one county or at least 10 sections on each ballot...one for each city & none for non-city dwellers.
The reasoning for this makes no sense at all....even to many of us who aren't "highly educated"!

And that doesn't include the different papers that they are printed on, the different security envelopes, the different mailing envelopes. Any discrepancy in any of those would be noted by those processing the ballots.
