Drama said something that made me wonder how many other people do this. My mom used to buy them for me when we went on vacation to snack on during the 10 hour drive. I still get a bag any time we go on vacation. One of the last stops we made before leaving NY was a stop at Walmart to stock up on candy for the road trip back to WA. The candy varies by mood, but it ALWAYS includes Twizzlers (not Red Vines - BLECH!). Driving across the US, we wound up having to make a pit stop one night to restock. These are my Canada road trip candy. Can't get them in the US that I've found but they're in most of the package stores in BC. Amazon carries them, but $$. www.amazon.com/Dare-REALFRUIT-Gummies-Fruit-Medley/dp/B000FFAK8W/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=dare+fruit+gummies&qid=1595960223&sr=8-2

Always have to had snacks for road trips, especially now with the kids!
For me, I'll always pick gummy bears and sour patch kids as my road trip candy (or anytime candy).

On the way home I've started eating cherry cola gummies that the Old Fashioned Candy Store in Estes Park sells. And I just found out I can get a two pound bag of them off Amazon. Good thing I've already done my blood sugar screening for the year.

Lifesavers. My mom picked up different flavors (not the multi-flavor packs today). My favorite was tangerine. They don't make them any more in single flavor packs. A little off topic, but similar. When my dad passed away a few years ago, I was reflecting on memories. Every saturday morning my dad went to the hardware store and he took us with him in turns. When it was my turn, he always let me pick a pack of Chiclets gum. I always picked orange. ETA: DH's current road trip candy is Good n Plenty, we also do twizzlers, but not the pull and peel ones, and only strawberry.

Good thing I've already done my blood sugar screening for the year. OMG I love cherry coke bottles - but only the ones that are sugary like sour patch kids. I used to find them in a store in Fort Collins (my brother would even mail them to me when he lived there), but they are super hard to find now.

I used to chew Fruit Stripe gum as a kid on road trips. My mom found some recently and I got all excited. Good lord that stuff is nasty! My palate has apparently undergone some changes since I was a kid.

We pack quite a variety of snacks, including candy & chips for long road trips. Gotta have the pull & peel Twizzlers! While on the road, when stopping for gas in small towns, we always look for the hard-to-find Lifesavers flavors. Like Butter Rum.

Peach rings, and not that you asked, but peppered beef jerky is also required for road trips.

Those jellied orange slice things. I don't know what they're called, just jellied orange slice things. And lemon drops and jaw breakers. More "old people" candy.

Lifesaver mints. First thing my sons ask when getting in my car is "where are the mints" and they turned adult many, many moons ago

You know, I must have been doing this wrong. We've always done chips for road trips.

Pull n peel twizzlers and popcorn - both snacks that portion out to keep the kids busy for longer LOL
Bubble tape because it keeps the kids quiet blowing huge bubbles. Each gets their own roll for the way there and a fresh roll for on the way home.
DH likes to bring M&Ms which is a terrible road trip food because they always melt.
We used to pack more snack choices, but the last couple of longer road trips I've given each of us $5 to buy whatever in the gas station. It's clearly more expensive but it's funny to see what ends up back in the car that I would never have bought. Both girls have said that's a new road trip rule because they enjoy the freedom.

I don't snack on roadtrips because I will eat the entire bag of whatever within 30 miles of leaving home.

I remember when their 'mantra' was ...... melts in your mouth, not in your hand. Times have changed
I don't remember any snacks on road trips but that was a very long time ago. Think funds had a lot to do with it.

As a kid, it was always fruit. Now, I always have a bag of pretzels. The salt settles my stomach.
