(If you're aware of what he specifically does for a living, please don't post it right now; that's not what I want to the focus of this thread to be. I want to WHINE!!!)
Today is payday, and it's the first one of this fiscal year. My husband is the CEO of a non-profit. My husband has made sure everyone else in the organization gets a raise for this fiscal year--except him. Yes, I know that's the right thing to do with the economy crashing. yes, I know we don't "need" him to get a raise. But (a) he works his freaking ass off at a high level of productivity, results, and integrity, and he effing deserves a raise; and (b) it's not fair that his employees are going to whine about not getting a bigger raise and I cannot even say anything in public about how he chose not to accept a raise.
Sigh.

(Hugs) as requested. Perhaps be glad your DH is a decent human being and know karma has a way of repaying it in unforeseen ways down the line?

First, I thought this thread was going to be about missing hugs while we keep social distancing. I could totally relate to that sentiment. Second, I thought your husband was in education like you...maybe I just made that up in my head. Third, no raise for him totally stinks! I could sugar coat it with he's doing the right thing, but I won't

((hugs)). From what I read here, you both work your asses off. Some people will never be satisfied.

I’m sorry. This is the closest we can get to hugs these days. Your husband sounds like a generous person. No raise sucks, and it sucks more since he is doing it for a good reason.

Here's a well-deserved hug. Your DH has not made this about him. A rare man. You obviously chose well.

Better person than my boss. She made sure she received a raise in the meanwhile we had to lay off staff and no raise for anyone else. In January it was 5 years since my last raise.

I told my spouse to embrace his/her problems.
He/she came over and gave me a hug 🤪

Wow! I can't believe there are complaints. With the current circumstances I would think people would be grateful for a raise of any amount.
I have already decided I will not take a bonus at the end of the year so hopefully the employees can get one. At this point, I'm not sure we can swing it for anyone (too many unknowns right now), but I will definitely take myself out of the mix if it helps. I make six figures. They certainly need it more than me.

Ugh , I get it but he works 24/7 and his people do not . But I get to hear his people birch and moan about working this event , working a Saturday, whatever .
MORE HUGS TO YOU !!!!

What do his staff earn? Often at non profits the only one paid close to respectably is the CEO. How far are the employees from Market Rate compared to your husband?

For what little comfort it may give, there are other hardworking people who are foregoing their own raises to make sure their staff are taken care of in these times. It’s very good of him.
If his staff go beyond venting and into whining, someone might want to point out that a lot of people in non-profits are getting no raises this year. In fact, a number of us have had our hours cut which effects not only our current take home but also any benefits that are based on annual salaries.
I know if I get this it has to be either a very mild case or I have to die because my STD and LTD won’t be enough to keep us afloat if I can’t work again and we have new costs due to long term health issues.
