How much more debt will the Republicans create with the new stimulus plan? I still think it is quiet telling, the same party that wouldn't spend a dime when the financial meltdown occurred are even talking about a stimulus. Oh wait, it's election year.

Which is why we know they will approve a stimulus package that extends until November.
I don't know how we will afford the taxes we will have to pay to get out from under, but I guess that's for the next administration to worry about.

Republicans? Both sides passed the first round of stimulus and will be involved in passing any further stimulus before the elections since republicans control the senate and democrats the house. Both sides have contributed to the growing national debt and neither cares about fiscal responsibility and doing what's right for the country long term.

I agree neither party seems to care about the deficit enough to try to fix it. Only one party runs on a platform of that says they will fix the deficit, and the other side is tax and spend. They are don't tax and spend.

Cut taxes yet still spend. Three times since 1981. The fiscally responsible have been lying.

The horror, being reasonable is not allowed in this day and age. If the republicans in congress really had a desire to accomplish anything, they could have made trump irrelevant. They just don't have any agenda

Yeah, Republicans....the same bunch that voted NO for the stimulus when the financial meltdown occurred. Not only that but:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell proudly refuses to even attempt to pass meaningful legislation. He calls himself the "Grim Reaper," brags about turning the Senate into a "graveyard" for bills passed by the House, and is content to have the Senate do nothing except confirm Trump's extremist judges and administration appointees.

"The CARES Act provided Kentucky and our nation with the tools to endure the first phase of the coronavirus crisis," McConnell tweeted on Friday. "But America's fight continues, so Congress's support for our people must continue as well. CARES 2 will focus on three things: Kids, jobs, and healthcare." www.newsweek.com/second-stimulus-package-focus-kids-jobs-healthcare-says-mcconnell-1520475Your focus does not add up. The virus escalated under your watch even with throwing 3 trillion bucks at it. That money was to help people during the lockdown all the while your party was calling for the country to open back up. Got your way...any progress been made with the virus? Kids: you have no idea what risk opening up schools will cause...and you don't care! Jobs: haha, there aren't any! healthcare: when did you EVER care about that anyway? But go ahead....send out those checks before the election. I'm sure if the tables turn in November, you all will be screaming about the debt.

provided that the money is going to businesspeople, no amount of spending is too much.

Negotiations over the next stimulus package intended to bolster the economy and help struggling Americans pay their bills have stalled on Capitol Hill with Democrats and Trump administration officials walking away after talks broke down on Friday and devolved into partisan finger-pointing. ... No additional discussions are planned after nearly two weeks of daily meetings, and lead White House negotiators Mark Meadows and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said they were recommending Trump move ahead with a series of executive orders. link "Well Shucky Darns. We couldn't come to an agreement so guess the only thing to do is to have our boss dictate what will happen." How convenient.

The rich are doing very well, always do. Rescind the trillion dollar tax cut that should help get it back in line. They were saying this morning how well they are doing and also doing better and better.
It's kind of let them eat cake, some may lose their heads one day.

The White House has announced Donald Trump will hold a press conference at his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey at 3.30pm ET today.
The president will presumably follow up on his pledge to use executive orders to extend Covid-19 relief measures while Congress remains deadlocked on the measures. link

I hope they take care of the billionaires. Apparently if we don't kiss their asses every minute they will leave to find some other great place to live and absolutely no one else in the US will be able to run companies that employ people.

Anyone here got any links that would enlighten me on what the Cornyn liability protection mentioned earlier entails?
I'm quite terrified as to what it might mean. How broad is it?
