CUCCINELLI: Well, in Portland, they have. I wouldn't say this is used anywhere else, but that was done obviously to keep both the officers safe and also, when crowds gathered, to move people to a safe location for questioning. In the one instance I'm familiar with, they were - believed they had identified someone who had assaulted officers or a position - a federal building there, the courthouse. Upon questioning, they determined they were - they did not have the right person, and that person was released. So - but all that questioning took place out of reach of a mob that had been gathering in one point, so that's how that concluded.
that is from an interview with NPR. he is a hideous man. dangerous.

Didn't the police just clear out the area, referred to as 'chop' ? It all sounds crazy to me.

A Navy veteran says he was beaten and pepper sprayed by authorities while attending his first protest in Portland Navy veteran Chris David, 53, told CNN over the phone Sunday that he had never been to a protest, but felt "enraged" when he saw federal officers on the scene and wanted to ask them what they were doing there. Officers from federal agencies have been spotted in the city taking protesters off the street, arresting them and putting them in unmarked vehicles over the past week. When approaching them to talk, David said they pushed him down, and started beating him with their batons and using pepper spray. He says he suffered a broken hand in two places, and plans to have surgery later this week. www.cnn.com/2020/07/20/us/portland-protester-navy-veteran-beaten/index.html

Sounds a lot like the Soviet Union's NKVD. The functions of the OGPU (the secret police organization) were transferred to the NKVD in 1934, giving it a monopoly over law enforcement activities that lasted until the end of World War II.[2] During this period, the NKVD included both ordinary public order activities, as well as secret police activities.[4] The NKVD is known for its role in political repression and for carrying out the Great Purge under Joseph Stalin. It was led by Genrikh Yagoda, Nikolai Yezhov and Lavrentiy Beria. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NKVD

If so, having a laser dot on me in that scenario would be scary as hell!

Maybe, but the protesters have been using green laser pointers directed at the police. The feds are sitting up in the buildings and then relaying info to local cops on the ground.

We have one scope like that and then DH has one he can activate on a hand gun he has too. Sure makes it easier to hit varmints out here in rural areas...like possums & coons, etc.

Wish I'd gotten a link, but I was just scanning headlines early this morning...apparently Meadows said that DT is making plans to send more fed troops to other Democratically run cities too.

The USA is falling apart. He's a happy boy.

Americans used to be very good at uniting against a common enemy. Thanks to Trump, the enemy is other Americans. Your country is beyond fucked and I don't know if it will ever regain its formal glory.

I saw the following on MMM forum's Trump outrage of the day thread:
I'd forgotten my sister mentioning the within 100 miles of the border suspension, until the above reminded me.

Oh he said they are going to Chicago next and probably ... a list but Philadelphia is the only one I remember, for obvious reasons.

"Wall of Moms" joined the Portland protest. "The group of peaceful moms grew over each night as the word spread on their social media groups. By Sunday night, around 200 women joined the Wall of Moms movement" And this is why the mayor and governor don't want the feds: President Trump Has Reenergized Portland’s Protests "The crowds gathering outside downtown courthouses on July 18 and 19 were as large as any Portland has seen in the past month." "Some activists, locked in a war with the Portland Police Bureau, continue seeking confrontations with local cops. (One group marched to police union headquarters Saturday night, and someone set a fire inside the building.) But much of the civic and national ire is now focused on the president's men."

And the “Wall of Moms” (including one very pregnant woman) was tear gassed by trump’s thugs

Will they argue that if you are within 100 miles of an international airport then you are within 100 miles of a border? That would capture everyone in a city.

I feel like I'm watching Hitler take power in Germany or the fall of the Roman Empire. I'm really hoping it"s the fall of an empire.
