Newest...
If the kids aren't going to school, shouldn't we get our tax money back.
WTF is wrong with people?
That is what you are concerned about?
And, you don't think there are any expenses? Did the schools suddenly stop paying teachers and they are teaching for free online for shits and grins? Did they sell off all those buildings in the past 4 months? I am really beginning to hate people.

It'll be all over. Saw a graphic that flashed on the news saying something like if school start dates are pushed back will teachers still get paid for that time?

Shut up and pay 'your' taxes.

Also, my Mom said this would all be over by Christmas, so they should return full time in January. No fucking idea where she got that one. Lol.

Shut up and pay 'your' taxes. Actually, I am changing my mind on this one. We should give everyone their tax money back. But, it is too hard to refund local sales taxes and property taxes. So, let's just give every adult $1,000 per month until Covid is eradicated. #yanggang #humanityfirst

My kid's schools said they would do online only until the start date. So, they better pay our teachers! I think it was delaying all instruction. Florida has very early start dates so they were talking waiting until end of August. So in this case it was no pay for no work, but I wasn't paying too much attention.

It is possible schools will delay their start. If they delay, won't they have to go longer at the end of the year?

I believe I heard the response was they're delaying to Aug 21 and not Aug 31 because they don't have to extend if it's 21st? π€·π»ββοΈ Not sure how hurricanes would impact if school is closed for that.

Also parents have to decide by this Saturday if their children will attend school in person or attend on-line school.

To be honest, that's the least of my concerns right now. It looks like the preferred start date by parents and teachers for us is 9/8/20. 2nd best is continuing with the original dual start dates. My system is trying to move all schools to the early start calendar. I'm currently in the worst of both worlds with 1 kid who usually starts in mid August and 1 who starts after Labor Day. So I've got one bored and moping from mid May to mid June until her brother is available to torment. And the reverse in August.

Remember the recession in 2008/9?
As a public sector worker, way back then law makers in my state have absolutely told us that we are lucky to get paid. You see, I really don't deserve the money that I earn working (in higher ed). It's only because the taxpayers are so generous to share. (Nevermind that I'm a taxpayer, too).
We have been accused of being lower than those that are on safety nets. State workers are really the ones that are sucking off of govt's teat. ETA: These are also the same people that would blow a gasket if I said to them "Well, you know you really lucky you get paid. It's only because the business/clients that you work for are so very generous to share their money with you." ETAA: We send our kids to private school....there's money and catholic, so a fairly conservative parental body. My oldest was like 7 or 8 when one of his classmates came up to him and said all state workers were lazy....
