Vertigo can also be something so stupid as crystals in your inner ear. It can truly do a job on you, but it really is pretty easy to deal with. There is a move that you can do to dislodge the crystal.
I get it a few times a year. The first time it happened, I was under the care of a dozen doctors.....so quickly diagnosed. It really is a bizarre feeling. The last time it happened, I got so dizzy I thought I would hurl......and I never hurl.

I have essential tremors. My brother and a good friend have Parkinson's. The shakes have their downside, for sure. My dad and one of my sisters also have/had severe tremors. All of us have been fully functioning, living with our issues for at least the last 30-40 years.
Hang in there. Although not ideal, you'll manage it. It will likely be helpful just to know what you have.
May good thoughts and mo-jo be yours. ♡

One of the problems for me is that when these things happen while in the sanctuary, simple things like turning to wash hands at the preparation of gifts becomes difficult. Probably pride in the way because I should just sit on a stool throughout it all, but I'm only 57 so think I shouldn't.

On a serious note, it is good to see everyone has needs that differ. It might behoove your flock to know you as well need a bit of 'lifting'.

Irishpad - back when I was a kid and attending Sunday Catholic mass, the church rule was fasting before receiving holy communion. Is that rule still in place especially for you and other priests? Could it maybe be your blood sugar are off due to not eating breakfast or other meals before serving mass?

The last 6 weeks I've had instances where I shake almost uncontrollably especially in the last 1/2 of the day. Almost collapsed because of this during a recent Mass. Have a priest friend who has Parkinson's and has tried to give some clue to the symptoms......I think there is not a test for it, but more like MS where they try to negate other possibilities. Any advice is appreciated. Have regular "wellness visit" in a couple of days Padre I do hope they figure it out and that it is something mild that is easily remedied! Sending you good thoughts!

Could it maybe be your blood sugar are off due to not eating breakfast or other meals before serving mass? The old rule was fasting from Midnight until you received communion. Thus all those early morning Masses and morning weddings. Now it is just 1 hour before receiving communion so can eat up until about 30 minutes before Mass, so not much of a hardship. However any need to not do the fast due to health reasons is perfectly acceptable.

When I had an attack of vertigo recently, my doctor sent me a youtube video on the Epley maneuver:

My Dr is a DO (doctor of Osteopathy). She has put me through those moves and then sent me a similar video. It works great!

Being 63, it has been difficult to accept that I can no longer do certain things without great difficulty and time. Luckily, I am still able to do most things. They just require more time a perservierence/patience. Sometimes the comments made by others is tough to deal with. But I try to remember that they don't mean to be unkind. Good luck. Stay safe and well. ♡
