Everyone is lying.Yup .......... and emphasize EVERYONEHaven't seen an honest salesperson yet, and I classify politicians as salespeople. Do you include physicians in this. Because that is what Trump is referencing. And I find it insulting to me and my fellow physicians. And you voted for the lying sack of shit. And we are all paying the price; 130k dead, hospitals overrun, medical professionals overworked and stressed beyond belief, the economy shattered, businesses closing, schools closed, everyone needing to wear masks. Satisfied now.

It's just so easy to dismiss everything as everyone is lying, but there are some telling the truth. Only problem is: figuring out who that is takes work. And it takes more work to understand the depth of their knowledge, to understand the nuance involved. That's way too much work for those who want to operate by short, snappy narratives and feels.
And you know what? It is too much work to do this for everything. But, if you find yourself saying everything and everyone sucks in some area, then it's imperative upon yourself to do that work in finding the truth there. Or not, and risk suffering the consequences.

But that requires us to valus expertise, and to listen to sources that are less biased. it would also help if we didn't allow politics to become a cesspool, and instead voted for honorable, honest people who want to make things better. But we respond better to negative advertising, and vilify people for there views if they are not on our"team". Instead we continue to spiral in a worse direction. People need to vote for someone who wants to make things better. Instead, we are feed all these hot button issues, while we are robbed blind.

So, don't listen to the experts ...if they disagree with me they are lying.
Got it.

That requires learning to be able to discern who actually has the expertise. I.e., Fauci vs. some random doctor or nurse creating a YouTube video. You have to educate yourself enough to be able to spot the quack. Should I instead just throw my hands up and say, "everyone's lying, so I'm not listening to anyone"? (And yes, I was aware of why masks were not recommended at first. I guess that makes Fauci a liar to some people, so they're not listening to anything more he's going to say.) That's why we really need to learn some basics on our own, and just not let our opinion blow around with the prevailing winds. It helps to understand the big picture.

True, but it is even more than that. Right now, it seems to be, if someone says something that i like, they are telling the truth. if I do not like t or agree with it, they are lying. We are often in the position where we need to give people news they do not like. They can chose to listen or not. But when all you want is an echo chamber, you will be lead down a bad path. Being willing to consider a contrary viewpoint is important, and n a democracy, necessary, if things are going to improve. We seem to have forgotten that

Cuomo commented on Trump calling Fauci and the CDC liars. He said, (as best I can remember) if you truly believe they are lying then you should fire them. If my (Cuomo's) director of health were lying, I would immediately fire him. Do you (Trump) TRULY believe that? Because SOMEBODY'S obviously lying here.

Have the guts to do it. Fauci will have another position if he wants it in about 15 minutes. He will then be free to say what he really thinks, allow he has too much class to do it. Something Trump and his followers do not understand. Will be fun to watch the s*** storm though. Cuomo, although a bit of a jerk at times, has been a breath of fresh air, and as a NY, knows how to get under Trump's skin. Has been fun to watch.

The man is 79 and has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for over 35 years. If he is fired I don't see him taking a "position" other than occasionally in front a TV cameras as an invited guest.

The day I find a subject in which trump knows more than anyone else (except on how to miss-handle a business which he is a master at) I may actually take his word for it - after intense scrutiny as I would be afraid I missed something when I thought he knew something/anything. I have rarely seen such a total, complete dolt.

And you voted for the lying sack of shit.
As long as you are playing the 'blame game' ....... the dems should have been a lot smarter than they were in 2016. But it's 20-20 hindsight now.
Personally I would like for a dark horse to come out of the woodwork on either side.

But continue to tell yourself you are a moral, upstanding person, even if you voted for trump, because Hilary was worse. I’m sure it is comforting to the 135k who died. I thought Trump would be an awful President but in 2016, I had no idea a pandemic would emerge in the US in 2020. People who voted for Trump in 2016 and disagree with how he's handled the pandemic are likely going to be voting against their preferred interests if they are conservative. Its not going to be easy to do, so I personally do not want to make it any harder.

If you are so blind that you cannot see the incompetence and corruption, there is no hope. They call everyone else names, but get there nose out of joint if they are called out. I am tired of treading lightly because I might hurt their feelings. If they are willing to admit trump is not up to the job, and does not deserve to be re-elected, fine. Everyone makes a mistake

What I can't understand is why people can't be republicans and come right out and say trump is and has been a disaster as a president. It's like having cockroaches--there's no shame in having them; there's shame in doing nothing about them.
I also can't understand why trump supporters insist that we all have to respect him because he's the president. No. We don't. I have all the respect in the world for the office of president. The person who is president has to earn respect. trump has not earned that respect, and anybody who insists that he has is no better than he is.
There is none so blind as he who will not see. Book of Jeremiah, chapter 5, verse 21 “Hear now this, oh foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears and hear not.”

She was not at all an inspiring speaker or leader, but she would have been the most informed, hardest-working person in that office in a very long time, with a great deal of experience both as a senator and Secretary of State, and also as a very involved First Lady. Her biggest flaw for progressive Democrats was that she was not Bernie. Her biggest flaw for Republican voters is that she was married to Bill, who was himself a FAR better president than anyone the Republican Party has put up in decades. It is difficult to excuse those who voted for Trump in 2016. It was obvious to anyone with their eyes open that he would be the worst president in at least a century, if not ever. He reached that mark very early on. It is IMPOSSIBLE to excuse anyone who still supports him. They have to be either mind-numbingly stupid, horribly cynical hyperpartisans, racist/white supremacist, or corrupt. Any combination of those is also possible. No thinking person who puts this country first supports that worthless, vile, dishonest, fat-assed little f***.

It is becoming equally obvious that the greatest contribution most of his followers could make is to follow him again. Right over the ledge.

They share responsibility for the 130,000 plus deaths - many of those who died would still be alive if we’d had competent leadership. Every single person who voted for the incompetent shares responsibility for those deaths. I could give a shit about their excuses. Besides the deaths and misery, this whole shitshow is on every trump voter. This. Did. Not. Have. To. Happen

I wonder often if the US had followed the pandemic playbook, would we have been able to keep it off our land all together? Or how small of a number could of it had been?

It wouldn't have worked Obama helped develop it under his administration. Let the rich white dudes handle it they got it under control. I often wonder the same thing. I learned that there is a massive change shortage right now so many places are going credit or exact change only. I found myself saying in line "If only there was a manual I wonder if it would have covered our banking system?" Guess the world will never know.

I found myself saying in line "If only there was a manual I wonder if it would have covered our banking system?" Guess the world will never know. You don't have to wonder. Look at our curve and the curve for the EU. That should be enough to show that competent leadership matters. Places that are really surging have incompetent or autocratic leaders: US, brazil, Russia, Latin America. Notice a theme.

My county, San Mateo, is doing o.k. but I still see a lot of stupid going on. I hike locally nearly every day. There are a lot of people who are not wearing masks with the highest proportion being youngish men (< 40) maskless and riding mountain bikes. I don't want them breathing on me (who wears a N95) when they blow by! Part of the problem is the mask is "recommended" when exercising outdoors...and no enforcement. I nearly lost it when some unmasked jerk drove his mountain bike through a small group of masked hikers. He looked about 35, not some young kid. Smiling as people yelled at him. Next time I'm taking a picture and posting on Next Door. Social shaming!

Because, even if your governor is responsible, the proportion of people who support the president do not believe this is an issues. So, if there was consensus, and following science, we would not be where we are today.
