Unless you have activities outside work hours with coworkers, you're not really friends so yeah - a loose attachment that fades. I do kind of miss my "work sibling". I didn't have a "work spouse". But one of the guys and I were a little like 'fighting siblings' which was fun - we both were on the same page with this. We still poke at each other before (or after) a conference call about something NOT work related. We're all business during the call and when we have to work on a project together. this is the relationship I have with one coworker, and funny enough he was in my sister's HS class. we check in multiple times daily via text or IM, actually we are chatting about my injured dog as I post this. I get along well enough with everyone else, except this one person in a particular role. the WFH thing has probably saved my job a few times b/c I've got distance and no visibility as I flip off my phone when this person speaks.

I actually miss a bunch of people. The person that hired me 20+ years ago passed away almost a year ago. His picture is on our fridge.
One person has been like a surrogate mom to me. We haven't kept up because I've been busy. She's also the god parent of one of the kids. There are two coworkers that I miss dearly. One I'm talking with weekly and the other only as needed, due to work schedules. Both know me AND understand me. I'm the same person at home as I am at work. They also are privvy to some of the crap I deal with personally.
